Ten Thousand Dragons Technique-Chapter 19: Living Off a Woman
"Lin Xuan, so it really is you." Sun Tian had arrived at a pavilion to find two figures waiting there, one of whom was indeed Lin Xuan.
He walked over, frowning at Bai Qianqian. "Miss Bai, our invitations do not permit outsiders. Why did you bring someone from the Lin Family?"
"I didn’t bring him," Bai Qianqian replied coldly. She had no favorable impression of Sun Tian. The only reason she had come was to see the legendary, peerless genius—the Young Pill King.
"You didn’t bring him?" Sun Tian sneered. "If it wasn’t you, how could he have possibly gotten in?"
"I walked in through the front door, fair and square," Lin Xuan stated.
"Impossible," Liu Ruyue, who was standing beside Sun Tian, said in disbelief. "You don’t have an invitation. How could you have just walked in?"
Lin Xuan laughed. "And who told you I don’t have one?"
Liu Ruyue froze. Could Lin Xuan really have an invitation?
Sun Tian shook his head and sneered, "Impossible. Our Sun Family might give an invitation to anyone else, but we would absolutely never give one to the Lin Family."
"Then open your eyes and take a good look at this." As he spoke, Lin Xuan produced an item.
Sun Tian glanced at it and was stunned. Liu Ruyue also gasped, "An invitation!"
"How is that possible?" Sun Tian roared, "It’s a fake!" He snatched the invitation to examine it carefully, but his expression quickly turned incredibly sour. The invitation was genuine.
He snapped his head up, stared daggers at Lin Xuan, and growled through gritted teeth, "How did you get this?"
"Your father gave it to me," Lin Xuan replied, his words stunning them.
Sun Tian was stupefied. What? My father?
"Nonsense!" Sun Tian refused to believe it. He roared, "Guards! Throw him out!"
Lin Xuan snorted. "If I leave, your father will beat you to death. Believe it or not?"
"I’d like to see who dares," Bai Qianqian declared coldly, stepping forward.
Sun Tian glared at Bai Qianqian. "Don’t get cocky, you woman of the Bai family. After today, our Sun Family will be on a completely different level. I’ll tell you the truth. The Young Pill King is our invited guest, and he will soon become our backer. At that time, the Sun Family will soar to new heights! So you just wait and see."
After leaving this threat, Sun Tian turned and left, no longer bothering with Lin Xuan. In his eyes, Lin Xuan was merely a buffoon, unworthy of concern. So what if he got in? All he would be able to do was watch helplessly as the Sun Family’s fortunes skyrocketed.
Bai Qianqian frowned. "This is not good. The Sun Family might actually be on the rise."
"Don’t worry, the Sun Family won’t be rising anywhere," Lin Xuan said. He sat down in the pavilion, picked up an apple, and took a bite, completely calm and unworried.
"What makes you so confident?" Bai Qianqian asked, her expression full of doubt.
"Because that Young Pill King you’re talking about... is me. Why would I ever associate with the Sun Family, much less help them rise to power?"
Bai Qianqian stared at him, stunned for a moment, before bursting into laughter. She laughed so hard she had to bend over. She was breathtakingly beautiful, and her laughter seemed to make the surrounding flowers lose their luster.
"What are you laughing about? I’m telling the truth," Lin Xuan insisted.
"Oh, Lin Xuan," she said, catching her breath. "I think you’re great in so many ways—your talent, your strength—but you have one tiny flaw: you’re an incorrigible braggart. You, the Young Pill King? Please, could you be any more ridiculous? You’re not even an Alchemy Master, let alone the Young Pill King!"
With that, Bai Qianqian rolled her eyes, clearly unconvinced.
Lin Xuan was about to explain further, but just then, a booming voice echoed from outside the manor. "The City Lord has arrived!"
The entire manor fell silent, and everyone surged toward the entrance. A tall, imposing middle-aged man walked in. He was none other than the City Lord of Cloud Sea City.
"Greetings, City Lord!" the crowd chorused, bowing in unison.
"There’s no need for such ceremony," the Cloud Sea City Lord said with a hearty laugh. He was the true overlord of Cloud Sea City.
"This way, City Lord." Clan Leader Sun escorted the City Lord to the seat of honor. He then summoned Sun Tian. "Tian, quickly greet the City Lord!"
"Greetings, City Lord," Sun Tian said, clasping his fists in a formal bow.
"So, this is Nephew Sun? Excellent, excellent," the Cloud Sea City Lord said, nodding with a smile. "I’ve heard that Nephew Sun has become a Grade One Alchemy Master. Congratulations are in order! A seventeen-year-old Alchemy Master has limitless potential. I have a congratulatory gift for you, Nephew Sun."
With a wave of his hand, he produced an Alchemy Furnace from his Storage Ring.
"A top-grade Yellow-rank Alchemy Furnace!" someone in the crowd exclaimed. That’s far too valuable!
Sun Tian’s eyes lit up at the sight of it. Every Alchemy Master needed an Alchemy Furnace. The quality of the furnace determined the success rate of alchemy; the better the grade, the higher the rate of success. Even his own father only used a top-grade Yellow-rank furnace. He never expected the City Lord to gift him one of his own. What a pleasant surprise!
"Thank you, City Lord!" Sun Tian said, his voice filled with excitement.
The Cloud Sea City Lord announced loudly, "No need to thank me. This is my gift to you. In fact, it’s not just for you. Any youth in Cloud Sea City who becomes a Grade One Alchemy Master before the age of eighteen will receive a top-grade Alchemy Furnace from me!"
Hearing this, the crowd erupted into a clamor. The younger members clenched their fists, their hearts pounding with motivation. They wished they could start learning the Alchemy Technique immediately.
The elders, however, merely shook their heads with wry smiles. Becoming a Grade One Alchemy Master before eighteen was simply too difficult. In all of Cloud Sea City, Sun Tian was likely the only one capable of such a feat; it was beyond the reach of anyone else.
「In the distant pavilion.」
Bai Qianqian sighed as she watched the scene unfold. Even though Sun Tian is insufferable, I have to admit, his talent is truly exceptional.
As she was lost in thought, Bai Qianqian was startled to see Lin Xuan get to his feet and start walking forward. "Hey, what are you doing?"
Without looking back, Lin Xuan replied, "I’m going to claim my Alchemy Furnace. I’m an Alchemy Master too, so I can also get a top-grade one."
Lin Xuan had only come to watch the excitement, not expecting such a pleasant surprise. He couldn’t possibly miss this opportunity, especially since he didn’t actually own a decent Alchemy Furnace.
"Get back here! What Alchemy Furnace are you talking about? Stop fooling around!" Bai Qianqian stomped her foot in frustration. Does he really think he’s an Alchemy Master?
Lin Xuan walked up to the City Lord and asked, "Does the City Lord stand by his word?"
At his words, everyone looked over. They were all stunned to see it was Lin Xuan. The City Lord was taken aback as well, his eyes narrowing as he focused on Lin Xuan.
Seeing this, the Lin Family’s Grand Elder quickly rushed over. "This is a disciple from my Lin Family, Lin Xuan. He placed first in the Heavenly Dao Institute’s assessment."
"Oh, so you are Lin Xuan!" The City Lord’s expression softened as he nodded. "I’ve heard of you. Your talent is also quite exceptional. My word is my bond, of course. Why, young man, are you also interested in alchemy?"
"Since your word is your bond, then please bring out another Alchemy Furnace for me," Lin Xuan stated.
A hush fell over the crowd, then absolute shock. Everyone was dumbfounded. Even the City Lord was momentarily stupefied.
Sun Tian exploded in anger. "Give one to you? On what grounds? Who do you think you are?"
"Because I am also an Alchemy Master," Lin Xuan replied calmly. "Didn’t the City Lord just say that any youth under the age of eighteen who becomes an Alchemy Master can receive a top-grade Alchemy Furnace? I meet the criteria, so naturally, I can receive one as well." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
What? He’s an Alchemy Master?
Hearing this, everyone was utterly stunned.
