Ten Thousand Dragons Technique-Chapter 382: Profound Ice Cold Pool!
Song Yan, Lu Xiu, and the others were worried. After all, the previous commander had been killed with no witnesses, and they weren’t sure if the Blackwater Snake was truly under Lin Xuan’s control. Could he really do it? Everyone was tense. Only Lin Xuan remained exceptionally calm.
Lin Xuan snapped his fingers. A Blackwater Snake immediately slithered out from the ruins. Everyone tensed up, their eyes fixed on the creature. The Blackwater Snake approached Lin Xuan and prostrated itself at his feet, appearing completely subservient.
Lin Xuan waved a hand. "We need to enter the passage. You will lead the way."
The Blackwater Snake seemed to understand, nodding at Lin Xuan before turning and darting into the tunnel. Lin Xuan’s form flickered as he followed it inside.
The onlookers were in an uproar.
"My god, the Blackwater Snake is actually leading the way!"
"No way! It’s really taking orders from the Marquis?"
"Heavens, am I dreaming?"
"What am I seeing? Is this something out of a myth?"
Everyone was going wild. They hadn’t believed Lin Xuan when he claimed he could control the Blackwater Snake, but now they had seen it with their own eyes. Now they believed. The Marquis’s abilities were truly godlike!
Elder Chen, flush with excitement, grabbed a torch and hurried in after them. Song Yan and Lu Xiu also let out cries of astonishment and followed suit.
Duan Lingtian stood frozen in place, completely stunned. Lin Xuan actually did it! This is unbelievable! He had been thoroughly put in his place.
Inside the passage, Lin Xuan followed behind the Blackwater Snake with a leisurely gait. He held a torch in his right hand, its light illuminating the path. Not far behind him, Elder Chen, Song Yan, and the others followed quickly. A total of twenty people had descended, leaving ten on the surface to guard against any surprise attacks.
Lin Xuan’s group continued their descent. After about the time it takes for half an incense stick to burn, they finally reached the bottom of the passage. Ahead of them, dozens of new tunnels branched out in different directions, each one dark, winding, and twisting.
Lin Xuan spoke to the Blackwater Snake. "This must be your Snake Cave. Lead me to your clan’s Treasure."
Hearing this, the Blackwater Snake coiled for a moment, hesitating before several of the tunnels. Then, it plunged into one of them.
A smile touched Lin Xuan’s lips. He waved to the men behind him. "Keep up."
Behind him, Lu Xiu, Elder Chen, and the others held torches in one hand and gripped the hilts of their swords with the other. They followed cautiously, entering the pitch-black passage.
Elder Chen was very experienced. He had his men take out some Fire Spirit Stones, placing one every ten meters to serve as a marker and to provide some light. This way, if they encountered danger ahead, they could use the faint glow of the Fire Spirit Stones to retreat in an orderly fashion.
The passage was extremely long. They walked for what felt like an eternity but still didn’t reach the end. No one spoke, and the atmosphere grew oppressive. Elder Chen’s brow was furrowed. He had explored many Ancient Relics but had never encountered a tunnel this long. Moreover, it wound steadily downward, as if leading into the very depths of the earth.
The further they went, the colder the air became. Eventually, the hair on their bodies stood on end, as if they had entered a ten-thousand-year-old ice cavern. This chill was remarkably similar to the one that emanated from the Blackwater Snake.
Song Yan whispered, "Could there really be a Blackwater Snake’s Treasure here?"
A flicker of anticipation appeared in Lin Xuan’s eyes. I hope it’s the legendary Candle Dragon Key. Getting that key would be like holding the very key to the Dragon Vein.
The group pressed onward. They encountered no dangers along the way, but the frigid air grew increasingly dreadful. Finally, just as they were about to reach their limit, they arrived at the end of the passage. Standing at the threshold, they stared at the scene before them, their faces etched with shock.
The passage opened into a massive cavern. In its center lay a giant pool of water. The water was black and radiated an intense, cold aura. The ground around the pool was covered in thick frost, and the entire cavern felt like an eternal ice grotto, cold enough to freeze anything solid. Lin Xuan and his men stood at the end of the passage, gazing at the ice world before them in stunned silence.
Lu Xiu gasped. He never imagined such a hidden wonder existed deep beneath the earth. As he spoke, he circulated his Spiritual Power, enveloping his body in a protective layer of Spiritual Qi that resembled armor to ward off the biting cold. Song Yan, Elder Chen, and the other Warriors quickly did the same.
Only Lin Xuan seemed unaffected. His Physique was extraordinarily strong, and this level of cold could not bother him.
Once they had shielded themselves from the chill, they began to carefully examine the cavern. It didn’t seem to contain any treasure.
Lin Xuan turned his gaze back to the Blackwater Snake. "Is there Treasure here? Where is it?"
The Blackwater Snake slithered toward the pool, but it stopped a short distance away and prostrated itself on the ground. Everyone’s attention shifted to the pool.
"Let’s go take a look." Lin Xuan was the first to enter the cavern and walk toward the water. Elder Chen and the others followed suit.
When they reached the edge of the pool, the cold became even more terrifying. They had to circulate their Spiritual Power at full capacity just to resist it.
Song Yan peered over the edge and saw that the pool was pitch-black and seemed to be a bottomless abyss. He had no idea what lay within. He quickly drew his head back with a sharp intake of breath. Just from those few seconds of looking, a layer of frost had already formed on his face. He shivered and cursed under his breath, "Damn, it’s so cold."
Lin Xuan narrowed his eyes. "According to the Blackwater Snake, the Treasure should be in this pool. I’m going in to take a look."
"What?" Song Yan cried out. "You’re going in? Are you insane?"
Elder Chen added, "Marquis, don’t be reckless! The cold from this pool is astonishing. Even with your strong Physique, you won’t be able to stay inside for long. Your Spirit Veins could even be damaged!"
Lu Xiu was more decisive. He drew the longsword from his waist and tossed it into the pool. The moment it hit the water, the sword was instantly encased in ice.
"Marquis, you absolutely cannot go in," Lu Xiu urged.
"It’s fine," Lin Xuan said calmly. "I can handle a little cold like this. It can’t hurt me."
A little cold like this? You can handle it? It can’t hurt you?
Lu Xiu’s eyes went wide. Even a Treasure Sword was frozen solid. How could his Physique possibly withstand that?
"Marquis, this is no time for jokes," Lu Xiu pleaded. If the Marquis gets frozen solid, we’ll be in huge trouble!
"Exactly," Song Yan agreed. "You can’t act on impulse." Lin Xuan might have miraculous means of controlling the Blackwater Snake, but even he couldn’t possibly resist such intense cold. Diving in would be suicide! Only a true Dragon Warrior could possibly withstand such a chill. No one else could.
