That Time My Anime Life Got Cursed by Outer Gods-Chapter 37 - 36: Geto Suguru: Who Would Win, You or Him?
Chapter 37 - 36: Geto Suguru: Who Would Win, You or Him?
"Wow, was that a thunder-based spell?" Gojo Satoru's tone was as playful as ever, but his eyes betrayed a rare seriousness.
The power in that thunderstrike had been terrifying. While his Limitless technique could block it, he knew better than anyone—no defense was truly perfect. Everything could be broken under enough force.
Looking at Shiro Sakamaki's calm demeanor and the ease with which he'd cast that devastating spell, Gojo realized—he hadn't even used his full strength.
And those shadows... the ones that moved like predators. Gojo didn't need to guess: if Shiro ever became his opponent, it wouldn't be a pleasant fight.
Meanwhile, Geto Suguru, far more contemplative, remained silent. But when that thunder descended, he had clearly felt the raw, primal fear radiating from the Curse Spirits he controlled. It came from the soul—the fear of divine retribution. Thunder, after all, had always been the bane of evil.
Fortunately, the threat was now gone. The tent that had cloaked the battlefield dissipated with the blast, revealing the outside world and those who had been waiting anxiously.
When they saw everyone alive and well—then glanced at the charred earth and gaping craters—they finally let out a breath of relief.
"Haruno, how long are you planning to cling onto him?" Hiratsuka Shizuka teased when she noticed Yukinoshita Haruno still buried in Shiro's arms like a scared kitten.
But Haruno didn't even respond. She only burrowed in deeper, her silence louder than any words.
Hiratsuka rolled her eyes. "Tch. Useless."
Shiro just gave her a wry, innocent smile, offering no defense.
After the family confirmed nothing had been overlooked at the scene, everyone started to part ways.

On the way back, Shoko Ieiri's curiosity got the better of her. The thunder strike... it had come out of nowhere. She knew Gojo and Geto inside out, and that wasn't their style. Yukinoshita Haruno was just an ordinary girl, so that only left one candidate.

But before she could ask, it was Geto who brought it up first. The look in his eyes made it clear—he hadn't stopped thinking about that spell.
"Satoru, that guy... he's strong, isn't he?"
Gojo, casually munching on sweets, paused for a moment before smiling. "Heh, didn't you see it for yourself?"
Then, in an unusual moment of honesty, he dropped the smirk.
"He's very strong. Even I'm not confident I could beat him."
That answer made Shoko Ieiri stiffen.
"So that thunder really was his... terrifying." She recalled the sight again—like a divine punishment crashing down from the heavens. Had that struck a person instead of a tent, they'd be charcoal. No second outcome.
"Well, you two can write up the report. The Supernatural Administration needs full documentation," she said, snapping back into work mode.
"Ah! I just remembered—I forgot something back at the shop!" Gojo suddenly cried out, eyes wide. "You can handle the report, right, Shoko? Thanks!"
Before either of them could stop him, he bolted, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake.
"Ugh. Every time," Shoko muttered.
Geto simply shrugged, unfazed. "Eh, just mark it as a Sukuna Finger recovery. Let him go."
The family sighed. With so few people in Jujutsu High, she had no choice but to tolerate these two misfits.

Meanwhile, back with Shiro and Haruno...
There was a strange silence between them as Hiratsuka Shizuka watched from a distance, a sly grin forming on her face.
"Alright, you two lovebirds, the matter's settled. How long are you going to keep cuddling?"
"Hehe... it's been a long time since I felt safe like this," Haruno admitted, clinging tighter to Shiro's side.
Though still a little pale from the encounter, she seemed to be back to her old self. Only now, a subtle gleam flickered in her eyes every time she looked at Shiro.
"Well, I've got reports to file and a sorority party to attend tonight, so I'll leave you two to it," Hiratsuka said, turning toward her car.
"We don't need to come with you?"
"Nope. The higher-ups will get the Curse Spirit details directly. No need to drag you along."
"Good. I don't want a repeat of last time. You guys made me register at the office, and then I had to find my way back alone. What kind of system is that?"
"But hey," Shiro asked curiously, "if the Supernatural Administration is so tightly tied with Jujutsu Sorcerers, why are your people so... weak?"
Hiratsuka's expression turned grim. "It's complicated. Those geezers up top treat us like pawns. Nothing more."
Shiro immediately understood, sharing a knowing glance with her.
"Ah, the joys of bureaucracy and power-hungry families. No wonder Gojo wants to shake things up."
It was the same old problem. Power consolidated by ancient bloodlines, leaving civilians who awakened powers with little to no say. Even if they made it to Jujutsu High, most ended up forgotten. And if you were talented but defiant?
Accidents happened.
Everyone knew. No one dared challenge it—because strength was the only truth in the Jujutsu world.
"Well, I've wasted enough time. I've got mingling to do," Hiratsuka said as she hopped in her car and tore off into the distance, the roar of her engine fading fast.
---
"So... what now?" Shiro asked.
He was officially on leave, and Haruno definitely wasn't in any shape for school.
"My company?" she offered with a sly smile.
"No thanks. I skipped school to avoid work."
"Then let's go relax."
"Sure, but where?"
"You'll see," she said mysteriously.
---
Two hours later... Glorious Amusement Park.
Sitting on the Ferris wheel, Shiro stared out at the scenery, face devoid of joy.
When Haruno had insisted on secrecy, he'd expected something special. A hidden location, maybe a quiet, scenic retreat.
Instead, she dragged him to an amusement park.
Not just any amusement park... Glorious Amusement Park.
If they were here to play, fine—he could at least appreciate the company of a beautiful woman. But Glorious Amusement Park? Really?
He sighed. There were some things even thunder couldn't save him from.
