In the early dawn, before the sun had cast its first rays, Ulan stirred from his slumber.

While each day typically commenced with the same routine, today held a distinct significance. Perhaps because it was the day his suspension was lifted.

[Grrrr, Grrr].

The resonant growls of Bai Lang, still nestled in peaceful repose, accompanied Ulan as he concluded his customary cold shower. Following suit, he flung the window open wide.

"Bye, then."

Leaving behind a brief farewell, he leaped out

Boom!

and felt the resonating vibrations beneath him.

Stretching his body, he embraced the chilling breeze that blew in.

The weather was conducive to a light jog, and so, with thoughts of a brisk run and a visit to the forest, he headed in that direction when

"Hmm?"

he suddenly heard a voice; footsteps coming from the front door of the dormitory.

Before he could discern the visitor's identity, the owner of the footsteps revealed herself.

"Ah, Ulan!"

A girl with a flushed complexion upon seeing him it was Ibella. Ulan cocked his head at the unexpected appearance.

"Why are you here......."

"Just came out to get some fresh air. Woke up early today for some reason," She replied with a sheepish smile.

However, Ulan still looked puzzled, "Dressed like that?"

Ibellas clothing was neat, suitable even for attending lectures immediately. It was surprisingly too neat for someone out on a casual stroll.

At that moment, Ibella, visibly flustered, explained, "No! I didn't want to go back into the room and come out again, too much trouble! Yeah! So, I got ready to go straight to the classroom."

"Hmm, I see."

It made sense. Ulan also intended to circle the forest and head straight to class.

He nodded in understanding, and Ibella heaved a small sigh. A sigh of relief. Then she turned back to Ulan and asked, "Why are you out already?"

"For the same reason as you," he replied.

"Really?" Ibella's turquoise eyes narrowed, registering a hint of surprise. But she didn't seem genuinely surprised. It was as if she had anticipated Ulan's answer.

"Shall we walk together, then?" she suggested, twirling her hair casually and casting a subtle glance at him; as if she wanted to say something.

However, Ulan appeared oblivious to any implied message. "No, I'm running," he declared.

"......what?"

Was that an unexpected answer? Ibella asked, dumbfounded. However, there was no reply. Ulan had already started jogging.

"Hey, wait up!" Ibella called after him, but he showed no sign of slowing down.

The impromptu race through the forest continued until, quite some time later, it finally came to a halt. Ulan abruptly stopped in his tracks.

"Ah."

Ulan's eyes widened; as if remembering something he'd forgotten.

"So it's today."

"Ha, ha, what, what?" Ibella asked, following closely behind.

As Ulan caught his breath, he answered somewhat indifferently, "The day Count Deorg leaves."

Istan el Deorg.

Three days earlier, he had visited the Dean's office of the Military Studies Department and submitted Himmel's withdrawal form.

A withdrawal after only a month of enrollment.

This unprecedented decision prompted an immediate committee session convened by Dean Berge. After more than a day of discussion, the professors approved Istan's decision.

Though it went against the rules, Istan's insistence made it impossible to intervene. And there was one more thing. Istan revealed a shocking truth the truth concerning Ibella.

Ibella Elearde is my daughter.

In front of the professors of each department, he made his relationship with her clear. Then, while exuding the aura of a master, he bowed his head politely.

"I entrust her to your care."

On the surface, it seemed like a simple greeting, but it was more of a warning; a stern warning that if he discriminated against her or treated her poorly after today, he would not stand idly by.

Was that why? After the committee meeting was over, the professors' gazes at Ibella had changed significantly from before.

After recounting Istan's actions, Ulan looked back at her.

"Do you want to go to see him off?"

"......No. I don't really want to see him," Ibella nodded, her face slightly stiff.

Still, compared to three days ago, her anger had subsided significantly. She had been glaring at Istan as if he were her mortal enemy at that time.

After a moment of silence

"Ulan."

Ibella spoke first; changing the subject, "There's something I wanted to ask you."

"What is it?"

"About your Outing Pass, have you decided when you're going to use it?"

"Outing Pass?" He blurted out.

Ulan looked at her questioningly, and Ibella realized her mistake.

"Oh, I forgot you probably didn't hear it, because you were suspended at that time......."

She trailed off and then began to explain.

An Outing Pass. This was a privilege given to all freshmen after the midterm exam period; an opportunity to leave the Academy and explore the capital of the empire or the surrounding cities for a day.

After a brief explanation, Ibella cleared her throat, "Ahem! So, if you don't have any plans, would you like to go out together?"

"With you?"

"Yeah, just the two of us."

After answering, Ibella closed her mouth; her eyes and expression tense. As she waited anxiously for an answer, Ulan nodded without much thought, "Okay. I'll do it."

"You really mean it? Really?"

"Yeah, I don't have any plans, so," he casually affirmed, readily accepting the offer since he had no particular destination in mind.

"Hehe, thank goodness," she smiled happily.

It was one of the brightest smiles she'd shown in a long time, and she resumed her walk, her face lighter.

How much time had passed?

The sun had risen, and morning had arrived.

It was time to head to class.

As they walked and chatted in the forest, the two headed towards the direction of the lion's mane-shaped building.

Later, as they completely emerged from the forest and passed near the Military Department's building

"What?"

there was a sudden sight that caught their attention.

The headquarters of the Military Studies Department stood before them, and the ash-colored haired girl, Sylphie, was in front of it. Yet, it wasn't her that held their attention, but the man engaged in conversation with Sylphie.

It was Istan.
