Chapter 202: Nothing But My Scent (Ch.202)

A quiet gasp escaped Zariah as Askel’s tongue grazed over the skin of her neck, he moved so he now lay over her, holding up his weight with his hands so she did not feel any pressure on her wounds.

Zariah felt a warmth in her heart, knowing that Askel still prioritized her well being to his desires, and his desire was quite apparent, if the bulge visible in his pants was any indication.

Askel’s eyes had darkened visibly, and his breaths were more audible, slower, sounding almost drawn out. Like he was barely holding himself back from Zariah.

The scent of his arousal was thick enough in the air that Zariah could still pick up on it, despite her much dimmer senses and Zariah had to wonder, if her senses were at their sharpest, just how potent would it be?

It was hard not to find it maddening, how much and how visible his desire for her was, he made no attempts to hide it too.

Zariah was certain she was the only one Askel never attempted to conceal his truest thoughts from. He always let her see him...in all that he was, and all that he felt.

"I missed you, Mhijani, I missed this heady scent of yours that sends my head spinning..." Askel confessed,

As he spoke, he nuzzled into Zariah’s neck, inhaling deeply before he let out a slow exhale that ended in a possessive growl.

Zariah could tell Askel was agitated even before he spoke.

"His scent...is on you..." Askel muttered quietly, his gaze moving to meet Zariah’s eyes.

Zariah bit down on her lip, diverting her gaze from Askel’s as she could not deny it. Caedmon had been around her constantly, it was not unexpected that his scent traces were left behind, especially to the heightened senses of werewolves.

"You tried to get rid of it too..." Askel added slowly, his tone deep and meaningful.

Zariah’s eyes widened slightly as Askel figured her out accurately. She had tried to wash Caedmon’s scent off of her with Eloneth’s help, insisting on washing up despite her wounds even when Nile dissuaded her from getting her bandages wet.

It was because even the barest traces of Caedmon’s scent was distasteful to her. But Zariah had not expected she had not been successful at all, instead, she had given Askel reasons to be suspicious of all she had been up to.

"You do not desire him, Mhijani. Not even in the slightest, I know you enough to know that, I see it in your eyes...look me in the eyes and tell me it is untrue." Askel dared Zariah.

Those orbs like a liquid pool of molten gold were deep and intense and Zariah could not tear her gaze away if she tried.

Zariah gulped audibly, staring up at Askel, and those eyes of his that demanded an honest response from Zariah.

And even if she wished she could follow through with her determination and claim otherwise, the words were too bitter on her tongue.

"I... you already know it well enough..." Zariah stuttered out quietly.

Askel’s brows furrowed slightly, his gaze reflected his relief and elation, but the confusion in his eyes had gotten even more potent.

"Then why are you even with him? Why would you go to him?" Askel asked in confusion.

"I have my reasons, but I... cannot give you the answers you seek right now." Zariah said quietly.

Askel did not press for Zariah to explain her reasons to him since she clearly did not wish to speak of them.

"These reasons, for how long will they be in effect...? Just this one month?" Askel asked Zariah.

"I do not know..." Zariah admitted, leaving her words hanging knowing they were already hurtful enough.

Truthfully, Zariah did not know...how long till Caedmon would lead her to the mastermind. What she did know was that she would not let go of this chance to track down the mastermind, regardless of how long it would take.

"And these reasons, are more important to you than I am?" Askel asked a different question.

Zariah winced visibly, it was a difficult question, she did not have a way to answer his question.

"Do not answer that." Askel decided after a moment.

"Seeing you with someone else, it has been a greater torture than anything I have ever faced. I do not know for how much longer I can bear it...but what I do know is that at this moment, I just want to be with you." Askel admitted quietly.

"Be with me, then..." Zariah whispered in the same manner.

Askel’s already hooded eyes darkened even more, he nuzzled his head into the crook of Zariah’s neck once again.

"I will show you, the proper way to get rid of a scent..." Askel murmured and with that, he claimed Zariah’s lips once again.

Zariah gasped quietly as Askel’s hands ripped off her robes from her body with barely any effort, not pulling away even for a moment while he did.

It was only when her robes fell off her shoulders, it was then Askel leaned back slightly.

He stared into Zariah’s eyes for a moment and then his gaze moved down to the bandages strapped around her shoulder and down to her torso.

His brows furrowed slightly, his eyes reflecting his pain, pain so potent like he was the one who had been hurt and not Zariah.

And then he leaned down and placed a lingering kiss on Zariah’s shoulder, right where the bandage began.

Askel’s lips followed that trail, slowly, without haste, his lips met every inch of Zariah’s heated skin, stirring her most intimate desires, whilst Zariah could only shiver and gasp beneath him.

As his lips moved, Askel’s hands found their way down to Zariah’s inner thighs, trailing slowly and teasingly along her thighs but never actually touching where she needed him to.

Zariah was not certain if Askel was punishing her in some way, or making it clear to her without words that it was he whom she desired.

"Askel..." Zariah whispered in a husky, pleading tone.

"Wait...till the scent that is all over you...is nothing but mine." Askel replied quietly...
