The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 122
"I don’t know," Kalis was the first to answer, shrugging. "I’ve never met one before."
Augustus seemed unbothered. "I’ve met one before when I once left the pack. I wouldn’t say they are bad, at least not the one I met."
Lorcan nodded in agreement and asked, "So...how do you feel about them, then?"
"As long as they are not trouble, I don’t have a problem. I don’t have an issue with the good ones."
His gaze shifted to Alexis, expecting an answer from her too. Alexis shrugged, pointing at Augustus. "The same thing Augustus said. I’ve never met one before but as long as they’re not trouble, I don’t have a problem."
"Good, good." Lorcan nodded and looked at both Amora and Koena.
Both were frowning.
"Oh, common, sweethearts, don’t tell me you hate them."
Amora glared at him. "Call us sweethearts one more time, red eyes, and I’m going to have your mouth sewed up."
He didn’t seem offended but instead pulled up a smile as if he were head over heels. His eyes shifted to Koena. "What about you, doll?"
Koena gave him murderous eyes and that made him smile even further. Unlike Keelion, he was not in any way stingy with his smiles. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"I’m not a fan of them," Keona said.
"Why?" Alexis glanced at her. "Have you met them before?"
This time, it was Amora who answered, "Do you know who their maker is? Vlad? I don’t think you do. He’s an asshole, and he’s...they’re so filthy, okay?"
Even their mother, the moon goddess, disliked him.
"Filthy in what way?" Augustus inquired.
Keona responded, "They live off human blood."
He raised a brow. "Don’t the humans give it to them willingly through something called a blood bank?"
"Does it matter? That doesn’t make them less filthy."
"Well they don’t have a choice do they?" Alexis asked. "It’s their source of living and it isn’t as if they are taking it by force or killing any of the humans. I think they’re fine."
Amora sighed heavily at her. "They have corrupted you even more."
"What do you mean?" She was confused.
Koena shot Lorcan with a suspecting look.
"Hey, why are you asking how we feel about vampires? What are you planning?"
"Nothing bad, doll." Lorcan chuckled. "The thing is, I needed all your opinions first because Alexis’s mentor is going to be uh...ahem, a dear old friend of mine."
"And...who is he?" Kaelis inquired.
Before he could respond, Augustus said, "The dear old friend is a vampire."
Silence fell within the entire room, the sounds of the chirping birds from out the window could be heard.
Everyone blinked and Keona instantly rose to her feet.
"No, no, no, that is not. happening."
"Sit down, doll—"
"Don’t ask me to sit down, okay?" She glared. "You are not having a vampire mentor, my sister, I won’t allow it."
Alexis screwed her brows together in confusion and lifted her gaze to Koena. "Sister...? What do you mean?"
How was she a sister to her? She didn’t even know her until recently.
Koena rapidly blinked awkwardly, darting her eyes around the room. She stuttered, "You’re...like a sister to me. That’s it."
They held eye contact for a few seconds before Alexis slowly nodded and looked away.
Lorcan stroked his stubble and slightly slanted his head to the side. "Come to think of it, you two do sort of look alike. No, the three of you actually. Are you three sisters?"
Alexis made a face at him.
Koena and Amora cackled awkwardly. "Sisters? How would that even be possible?"
"I mean, the three of you are the same height, the same type of curly hair. Sweetheart, the color of your hair is even the very same shade as Alexis’s. And doll," he glanced at Koena. "Even if your shade is more silver, it is still the very same type of curls. Not to mention the way you two care about her. Isn’t it kind of weird?"
"Stop making stupid assumptions, Mr." Amora rolled her eyes, letting the lie slip off her tongue, "We are not sisters or anything of that sort. Alexis doesn’t even know us."
Koen nodded. "True." She was unable to look away from Alexis who was staring at her with a scrutinizing silent stare.
Alexis didn’t say a word but averted her gaze. She asked, "When will he come?"
Lorcan glanced at her. "I don’t know. He wasn’t willing to tell me, and said he would come at his own time."
Amora rolled her eyes. "Typical."
"Okay, I’ll wait then." Alexis stood to her feet. "I’ll be going now. See you guys in the morning."
They nodded at her. "Goodnight."
She left the dining room and the first to ask a question was Kaelis, "I don’t think Alexis is okay."
"Why?" Lorcan cocked a brow.
"I don’t think you knew what Alexis was like before, but she used to be so cheerful. Now, she’s just...closed off and cold. I can count on my fingers how many times I’ve seen her smile and it’s just once."
He shrugged. "I don’t know what you expected but anyone who’d been taken away from their mate and then had to bury their mother would be exactly like this. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine. This...will all wear off, hopefully."
All eyes fell on the door that she’d left through.
"I’m going to get going too," Augustus said and stood up from the chair. He left the dining and instead of heading to his room, he made his way over to Alexis’s room.
The man knocked.
"Who?" Alexis inquired.
"Augustus. Can I come in?"
"Yes."
He stepped inside and closed the door behind him, then he made his way over to the loveseat in the room to take a seat.
Alexis was curled up in the bed under the duvet, her eyes peering at the ceiling.
"Why are you here?" she asked.
The man shook his head. "Nothing. Just...wanted to keep an eye on you is all."
A soft puff of laugh fell from her. "What? You’re worried I may be drowning in sadness?"
