The orb flickered at intervals before going off entirely. That was when Buji and Instructor Jean noticed the sound.

Arrows with different speeds whacked at them but ended up falling off after coming in contact with the barrier.

The barrier had been their protector.

Instructor Jean smiled on seeing what had happened.

"She used the gift."

"What gift?" Buji asked

Buji was answered with the change in energy in the chamber. The air was dense, and it pressed on his chest making it hard for him to breathe. His hand tightened on the hilt of his sword, and he saw it.

The bat, as small as it was possessed this energy.

They were distracted by what had happened outside the barrier, now, Instructor Jean is lifted off the floor, with the claws of the bat pierced into his stomach from the back.

"Urgh," Instructor Jean growled in pain.

"Buj-i-i…" Instructor Jean called out, showcasing his bloody teeth.

Buji stood with the swords by his side.

Here he was, with aetherfang, nothing to do came to his mind. But then, he reasoned, from the way Instructor Jean had called the sword’s name in shock, it means there was an ability it has. But he is ignorant of that fact.

"Whatever," Buji growled. "I will end it now."

The system had allotted him some skills, and he didn’t think about it if not now.

"Activate skills!" he shouted in anger, sprinting forward.

[Skills activated.]

Buji didn’t waste any time. He unknowingly jumped to the bat, hovering in the air, with Instructor Jean in its claws. His blade glowed with energy as he activated on the skill, ’Swordsman’.

In a blur of motion, he delivered a series of rapid, powerful slashes that left the claws of the bats flying off in the air. Instructor Jean was finally released from the grip, landing on the floor with a loud thud, with shock in his eyes.

The bat’s high-pitched screams filled the chamber as Buji’s strikes left an indelible mark on the bat.

But, it wasn’t over yet.

As if trying to free itself from the pain sent to it by the strikes of the glowing sword, the bat thrashed violently. Now free, it burst with the mana emanating from its body. The force sent Buji flying.

Buji hit his body hard on the ground, the wind knocked out of him. He coughed and staggered to his feet, blood dripping from a fresh cut on his forehead.

Instructor Jean wasn’t faring better either. He had been stabbed in the back and was also severely injured. Yet, he forced himself to stand.

"This thing isn’t just fast," Instructor Jean said. "It has ranges of attack."

"What are you doing?" Buji asked with concern. "You need to rest a bit."

"I can’t leave this up to you. It’s too much for you to handle."

"What do you think?" Buji asked.

"What do you mean?" Instructor Jean returned the question.

"Let’s go all in then," Buji said, wiping the blood from his face.

Affront, the bat hovered in the air with its crimson eyes glowing brighter than before. It has managed to sustain severe wound but appeared far from defeated.

Instructor Jean gathered all his strength, flipping his spear in a circular motion before bringing it diagonally to his side. He staggered a few steps before standing firm. He was pouring all he had into this battle.

"Buji, distract it!" he instructed. "I will target the core."

"Where is the core?"

"Beside its chest."

Buji’s eyes widened. If Instructor Jean was going to strike the bat’s core, then it would mean the boss was killed by Instructor Jean.

Not like there’s anything wrong with it, but, he will be losing the rewards of a completed quest. He wanted to see what it felt like to complete the system’s quest.

Yet, he still needed to be the attacker.

Without hesitation, Buji charged at the bat with unpredictable movements, zigzagging across the chamber.

The bat lashed out with its wings and claws, but Buji dodged with a combination of flips, rolls, and well-timed counters.

"Woah," he gasped. "Is this me just now?"

But there was no time. He doubted if they had barely ten minutes to complete the raid. So, he needed to be superfast, even though he lacked speed.

When the bat lunged at him, he became the bait, leading it closer to Instructor Jean.

"Now!" he shouted.

Instructor Jean hurled the spear with all his might. The spear crackled as it soared through the air, aimed directly at the bat’s chest.

The bat tried to dodge, but Buji anticipated its movement. With a powerful leap from the ground, he struck the bat with a spinning slash, forcing it back into the path of the spear.

The spear pierced through the bat, pinning it to the cave wall. It struggled to get loose of the spear’s grip but the force with which the spear struck into the wall was great.

With a final urge to send the bat to its ancestral land, Buji flung his aetherfang horizontally, directing it to the bat’s neck.

With the head off, the creature still let out a final, earsplitting screech before ceasing breath.

"Odd," Buji muttered. "Even without the body."

The boss was down but the battle was still on.

Where?

It was a joke.

The barrier was down with the death of the dungeon boss, allowing the hunters entry.

Instructor Gib rushed to Instructor Jean and clamped onto his injury. His clothes were already soaked in blood.

"Rose! Over here," Instructor Gib called out.

The other hunters have assembled around Buji, who knelt with one knee, supporting his body with his aetherfang sword clicked to the ground. Their facial expressions were clearly not good and Buji sensed that something had happened.

"What?"

"She’s dead."

Buji searched the group immediately and noticed there were seven instead of the supposed eight.

"We lost her," a male voice said.

Buji staggered to his feet and with the help of Lobby, who took him by the shoulders, went to the dead body that lay on the cavern floor a few meters apart.

Instructor Gib also assisted Jean, who was getting better from the Rose’s healing magic to the dead body.

Not that his wounds had closed completely, they were going to close but gradually. At that moment, the pain he felt had drastically reduced.

Buji stood over the fallen body of their team member. Disgustingly, it was a female, and the body was without a head.

Looking by his side, he saw the head.

It was Doris.

"She lost to the claws of one of the bats," Kira said, with a low tone.

Buji didn’t know what to feel. Or how to feel.

He wasn’t feeling any sympathy or so to say, but the sight… just the sight.

"Brace up guys," Instructor Jean muttered, clutching his chest. "…cause we need to get out of here."

Outside the dungeon, the treasure miners were already there with their trucks.

’So, there are people who mine the treasures of the dungeon?’ Buji wondered.

On their way out, Buji noticed the dead bodies of the bats, had all turned to glowing crystals. The returns from that of the massive bats were more in size, while the dungeon boss… there was a whole stack of purple glowing crystals.

He was almost tempted to pick one of the crystals but he was warned by Lobby not to do so. On second thought, he didn’t know how much the crystals were worth, so, it might be useless if he collected any.

Still, on their way out, the hunter’s system had notified them of a completed raid.

Time is up.

Congratulations: Raid completed.

Rewards will be allotted shortly.

As if that was not enough, he received the monster’s system notification.

Another notification popped up.

Buji was intrigued by the system’s notification. He couldn’t wait to see the rewards, but he didn’t want to rush it either.

He wanted to settle while going through the rewards when it came.

In the meantime, he, with his teammates was distracted by the continuous "congratulations" from the crowd outside the raided dungeon.
