The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 1233: Life After Calamity
Tianhuang City.
With the conclusion of the Tianlan Sea Token Tournament, the many cultivators who had lingered in Tianhuang City gradually began to disperse. Those fortunate enough to obtain a Tianlan Sea Token gathered instead at the Murong Mansion.
Yang Huanzhi had once again altered his appearance. Using the Tianlan Sea Token he acquired, he quietly mixed in with the Murong clan's gathering.
Originally, including the ten Tianlan Sea Tokens distributed earlier by the Venerable of the Desolate Sea, there should have been fifteen people qualified to enter the Sea of Miracles. However, since two of the tokens were in Ling Feng's possession, only thirteen martial practitioners had gathered at the Murong household.
Yang Huanzhi swept his gaze through the hall. Aside from the four cultivators who had participated in the tournament, every other person who held a token was a top-tier inheritor of the Inner Sea's great powers, most of them at the peak of the Spiritual Sea Realm.
Clearly, they had come seeking the opportunity to break through to the Human Emperor within the Sea of Miracles.
Di Xuan still stood among them, his expression cold and detached, as if nothing in the world concerned him.
Yang Huanzhi sighed quietly. It was a pity Ling Feng was not here. He had no one to talk to, let alone anyone reliable enough to depend on.
That day, the Murong clan suddenly summoned all who possessed Tianlan Sea Tokens, claiming they would enter the Sea of Miracles ahead of schedule. The departure time, which had already been moved forward several times, stirred faint suspicion in many hearts.
Even so, no one objected. The chance to enter the Sea of Miracles to seek a fortuitous opportunity was far too precious to question.
Inside the grand hall, all the Inner Sea martial practitioners who held the tokens were already gathered.
Among the familiar faces, Yang Huanzhi unexpectedly spotted two others he recognized. Jian Liang, the Second Elder of Heaven's Illusion Island, and his son, Jian Xibai.
Ever since Ling Feng had slain Jian Chen in the Hall of Heroes, that father and son had pursued him relentlessly. Yet, despite all their efforts, they never found him. Eventually, they learned that the infamous "Fat Lord" Long Fei who had caused such a stir in Tianhuang City was none other than Ling Feng himself. They immediately went to find the Venerable of the Desolate Sea.
Unfortunately, by the time they did, the information they received confirmed that Ling Feng had already fled Tianhuang City.
The father and son once again missed their chance to confront Ling Feng.
Their resentment had been simmering ever since, with nowhere to release it.
The Venerable of the Desolate Sea, however, gave them a lead. He told them that Ling Feng would most likely also enter the Sea of Miracles.
The secret of Misty Sea Volcano Island might have been kept well by wandering cultivators, but hiding such a thing from the great powers of the Inner Sea or Tianhuang City was nearly impossible.
The Venerable of the Desolate Sea knew that many wandering cultivators would rely on that ancient array to enter the Sea of Miracles. Yet the stability of the array was uncertain, and he had no interest in testing it himself.
Still, if Ling Feng was willing to conceal his identity, change his appearance, and compete in the Tianlan Sea Token Tournament just to enter the Sea of Miracles, then he would certainly find another way to get inside.
That ancient array on Misty Sea Volcano Island was clearly his final option.
The Venerable of the Desolate Sea could not be completely sure, but he estimated a seventy to eighty percent chance that they would encounter Ling Feng again within the Sea of Miracles.
After a discussion with Jian Liang and his son, the Venerable of the Desolate Sea decided to give them the two remaining spots and bring them into the Sea of Miracles as well. The condition was that they would sever all ties with Heaven's Illusion Island and join Tianhuang City.
The two agreed without hesitation. They could enter the Sea of Miracles in search of treasures, avenge their son, and become part of the most powerful force in the Inner Sea. There was no reason to refuse.
Thus, the fifteen member expedition was finalized. Including the Venerable of the Desolate Sea and Murong Zining as guides, the group numbered seventeen in total. Following their plan, they began their journey toward the Sea of Miracles.
...
Beneath a pitch-black sky, a man with flowing crimson hair and a towering physique sat atop a mountain of corpses and a sea of bones. His gaze was sharp enough to pierce the heavens, and his eyes gleamed with a terrifying light.
The corners of his mouth curled into a cruel smile as he let out a thunderous laugh that shook heaven and earth. "The time has come. I, at long last, shall return to the mortal world!"
"Old fool, when I emerge from seclusion, it will be the day of your death. I will repay the strike you dealt me ten years ago with a hundredfold!"
His wild laughter rolled through the void...
...
Meanwhile, Ling Feng and his companions were swallowed by the dark space-time portal. The long transmission began.
Ling Feng had never experienced a journey through a space-time portal that lasted so long. The portal was unstable and shifted violently, turning the world upside down until everyone felt dizzy. Even those at the Human Emperor level were overwhelmed by nausea.
No one knew how much time passed. Perhaps a day, perhaps two.
Inside the portal, the cultivators had to constantly resist the unpredictable surges of the space-time tides while also guarding themselves against one another.
The physical and mental exhaustion was unbearable.
"Damn it all!"
Lou Qianzhong gasped for breath, his face pale and covered in cold sweat. Bloodshot veins crawled through his eyes, a clear sign that his mind was nearing collapse.
He had already consumed most of his elemental force strengthening the ancient array that suppressed the magma beast. And within this space-time tunnel, there was no trace of spiritual energy, which meant he could not replenish his elemental force.
After enduring this torment for so long, even Ling Feng felt his breathing grow heavy and his head start to spin.
"Ugh!"
President Fang, the man Lin Mu had saved on the Bridge of Life and Death, was the first to lose control and vomit.
Once the first did, the rest followed. The cultivators, their spirits stretched thin, could no longer maintain their dignity as Human Emperors. One after another, they doubled over, vomiting until even bile came up.
Lin Mu pinched his nose and avoided looking at them. If he saw too much of that scene, he might start vomiting himself.
After that ordeal, even he was left speechless. Were it not for his talkative nature, he would have surely mocked the vomiting Human Emperors around him.
Among everyone present, only Ling Feng, Lin Mu, and Lou Qianzhong managed to remain somewhat steady. Even Zong Lian lay half-unconscious, his eyes rolling back as if he might die at any moment.
Lan Yuhuang fared even worse. Her head pounded with pain until she lost consciousness entirely and collapsed into Ling Feng's arms, her face pale as snow. At that point, she no longer had the strength to care about embarrassment.
Tuoba Yan, however, was in comparatively good condition. As a member of the Tiance Clan, her soul essence source was far stronger than that of ordinary cultivators, which allowed her to endure the ordeal better than most.
No one knew how much longer they drifted. Their minds began to blur, and a dreadful illusion settled in. It felt as if they had been lost in this endless corridor of time and space forever, trapped in an infinite cycle with no escape.
A growing panic took hold of them. Could the ancient array have collapsed? Were they doomed to wander this endless portal for eternity?
Just as despair was about to take root, a light appeared ahead of them.
In the next instant, everyone felt their bodies grow lighter. The spinning and distortion vanished, and the sensation of solid ground beneath their feet filled them with renewed energy.
Even Lan Yuhuang stirred. She pushed herself up from Ling Feng's embrace, drew in a deep breath of fresh air, and smiled faintly.
"We're finally out!"
