The Art of Chaotic Divinity-Chapter 1297: Thunder Rule
"Thanks for your guidance, Master!"
Mo Qingfeng drew a deep breath and knelt before Ling Feng.
A hundred years of effort had finally paid off. His chest was filled with a rush of indescribable emotion.
"Senior, you are being far too serious!"
Ling Feng hurriedly supported him. He was genuinely happy for Mo Qingfeng's breakthrough, and he had also gained much insight from the man's sword dao. The two of them benefited each other, and their exchange felt more like mutual learning rather than one guiding the other.
"If not for your guidance, Master Ling, I would have remained trapped for another sixty years without ever reaching this level. I was already lost in my own dead end."
Mo Qingfeng sheathed his sword and looked at Ling Feng with steady eyes. "You helped me break through. It's time for me to fulfill my promise."
"Forget it. This is the inheritance of your Moxue Mountain Manor. I am only an outsider."
Ling Feng waved his hand and was about to refuse, but Mo Qingfeng cut him off before he could finish.
"Master Ling, do you want me to break my word? What I promised cannot be taken back. Since I agreed, I ask that you do not decline."
Ling Feng saw how earnest Mo Qingfeng looked and could only answer with a helpless smile. "Very well. If Senior insists, then I will accept."
"This is how it should be!"
Mo Qingfeng straightened his posture and gestured for Ling Feng to follow. "Master, come with me."
Before long, he brought Ling Feng back to Moxue Mountain Manor and went directly to find Mo Qiuhua to ask her to open the inheritance cavern.
Mo Qiuhua saw the change in his aura at a glance. "Qingfeng, you... did you break through?"
"Mhmm." Mo Qingfeng nodded slightly. "My Vast Horizon Sword Will rose into Ethereal Sword Will and breakthrough straight into great perfection."
"Hiss!"
Mo Qiuhua drew a sharp breath. She had never heard of a sword will advancing in tier after being comprehended. She could not imagine what kind of miraculous secret Ling Feng possessed to make such a thing possible.
"Save your shock for later, it's time to fulfill our promise."
Mo Qingfeng urged her to move.
"Fine, fine." Mo Qiuhua sighed and led Ling Feng and Mo Qingfeng into a hidden passage beneath the manor.
The narrow passage stretched deep underground. At the end stood a bronze door.
Mo Qiuhua removed the Manor Master's command ring and placed it into a groove beside the door. A deep humming echoed as the massive door slowly opened, revealing something like an empty world behind it.
"This is the inheritance cavern of Moxue Mountain Manor. The space inside is independent and is often called a small cave heaven."
Mo Qiuhua explained slowly. "Inside, there are three inheritances. Each Manor Master can only comprehend one of them. Which one resonates with you depends entirely on fate."
Ling Feng nodded lightly. The Tianbai Emperor's spiritual manifestation also left behind such an inheritance cavern, so this structure felt familiar. He wondered what surprises awaited him inside.
"Go in. Whether you succeed or not, you will be sent out automatically after three days."
Mo Qiuhua continued, "Since you are not the Manor Master, you only have one chance. If you fail, you cannot enter again."
Mo Qingfeng frowned as soon as he heard this. Ling Feng, however, smiled and waved the concern away. "It is fine. Three days are enough."
With a small sense of anticipation in his chest, Ling Feng stepped through the bronze door. A void of space-time swallowed him, and when he opened his eyes, he was already standing in a valley.
"Interesting place."
Ling Feng touched the bridge of his nose as he looked around. The valley was ringed by mountains, and three of those mountains each held a massive stone statue carved into the rock.
The stone statues were ancient and carried an aura from ages long past. Time seemed to flow differently here. Each statue felt alive, and a small trace of Ling Feng's soul stirred uneasily, as if something was watching him.
"Moxue Mountain Manor managed to survive for thousands of years under Dongling Immortal Pool. It truly is remarkable!"
Ling Feng raised a brow and smiled. The divine skill they mentioned was clearly hidden within one of these ancient statues.
He considered for a moment and chose the statue to the east. Gathering his spiritual consciousness, he attempted to merge it with the stone carving.
An unfamiliar, cold stream of information surfaced in his sea of mind. It carried no hostility and felt rather gentle.
A heavy "boom" struck his consciousness, followed by a desolate vision flooding into his mind.
A towering figure stood at the peak of a cliff, overlooking the world as if nothing could rival it. The painting-like scene radiated a lonely power that seemed to suppress all of heaven and earth.
Black clouds darkened the sky beneath a veiled moon, and lightning flashed with crashing thunder. Nine Thunder Dragons, as thick as human bodies, roared across the horizon, their angry shouts shaking the heavens and the earth.
Thunder exploded as the nine Thunder Dragons descended. Their fury was unstoppable, and the sky tore open under the force of their fall.
The solitary figure lifted a hand. Lightning coiled between its fingers and took the shape of a sword that shot upward. Thunder clashed against thunder. The nine Thunder Dragons twisted and were swept apart. Storm and cloud shattered and vanished without a trace.
The sky cleared in an instant. The world returned to calm as if nothing had ever happened.
A turn of the hand changed the weather!
A flip of the palm silenced heavenly thunder!
Such power was terrifying!
A trace of comprehension lit Ling Feng's eyes.
"Is this the thunder rule?"
Thunder governed destruction. Thunder energy was the most devastating force between heaven and earth.
One who mastered the thunder rule possessed strength that could resist heaven and earth themselves. Yet this rule was too violent. Out of tens of thousands of Human Emperor experts, not even one might control it.
Ling Feng shook his head after a moment. "For me to master the thunder rule directly is unrealistic. However, comprehending the thunder conscious realm is more than possible."
The conscious realm was the path required before touching rule-based power.
For example, a thunder attribute martial skill used by someone with thunder attribute spirit infusion would have far greater force than an ordinary practitioner.
Someone who comprehended the thunder conscious realm would be even stronger. Beyond that realm lay the thunder rule.
With a conscious realm infused into a technique, even an ordinary move could gain divine might and become astonishing.
With his goal set, Ling Feng closed his eyes and stood before the statue as he replayed the scene where heavenly thunder scattered before that figure. The will that faced the heavens alone began to form in his mind.
Slowly, Ling Feng slipped into a mysterious realm. His thoughts remained his own, but his body moved on its own. As he lifted his hand, a faint hint of thunder murmured through the windless valley and disappeared as quickly as it came.
