The Art of Pursuing: The Unyielding Ex-wife-Chapter 529: That will probably take at least three years
"Hello Aunt Zhang, it’s been a long time." She politely greeted Zhang Yuanyuan who walked into the hospital room.
"It has been a long time. How are you feeling, Munni?"
"Hmm, much better. Please have a seat."
"Hmm."
Zhang Yuanyuan nodded and sat down on a single armchair on one side.
She looked up apologetically at Qin Muni and, after hesitating for two seconds, finally spoke, "Munni, Auntie wants to apologize to you on behalf of Siting."
Qin Muni knew well that Zhang Yuanyuan came to plead for Bai Sitong, hoping that she could persuade Xu Yisen not to hold a grudge against Bai Sitong and get her out of the police station.
"Thank you for visiting me. I’m sorry to trouble you to come in person."
Qin Muni raised a gentle smile towards Zhang Yuanyuan, but her words avoided the plea Zhang Yuanyuan made for Bai Sitong.
In truth, her attitude was already clear; she did not accept Zhang Yuanyuan’s apology.
However, Zhang Yuanyuan had only one daughter, Bai Sitong, and naturally could not bear to see her actually go to prison. So even though she felt somewhat awkward, she had to persist in trying to persuade Qin Muni.
"Munni, it’s Auntie’s fault for not disciplining Siting well enough, which led her to make such a huge mistake. If you must, blame Auntie, but please forgive Siting, okay?"
"Auntie, I heard Uncle fell unconscious last night. Is he doing better? Please convey my regards to him."
Qin Muni once again steered clear of Zhang Yuanyuan’s topic.
The reason Zhang Yuanyuan provided for Bai Sitong was indeed far-fetched. She was a grown-up and had her own independent thinking ability, so if she made a mistake it was naturally her own fault, and Zhang Yuanyuan should not be blamed for something unrelated to her.
Her continuous change of subject made Zhang Yuanyuan anxious, "Munni, Auntie is begging you to help Siting! Auntie only has one daughter, you can’t just watch her go to jail like that, Munni!"
"Auntie, my father also has only one daughter—me. He raised me, loved me, spoiled me all these years, not to see me strangled to death by others."
Qin Muni’s attitude was resolute, leaving no room for compromise or retreat.
Zhang Yuanyuan, because of her outright refusal, looked dazed, her makeup-covered face full of worry.
Both fell into silence, and the hospital room was engulfed in an awkward quiet.
The door of the room suddenly opened, and both Qin Muni and Zhang Yuanyuan looked towards the door simultaneously.
They saw Xu Yisen walking in with an elegant demeanor. After closing the door, he gracefully walked towards Qin Muni, completely ignoring Zhang Yuanyuan sitting on the armchair.
"Chairman Xu."
It wasn’t until Zhang Yuanyuan called out to Xu Yisen that he turned his eyes slightly towards her.
"Hmm, Mrs. Bai."
"Chairman Xu, I have an unreasonable request."
Regarding the request that Zhang Yuanyuan was about to make, Xu Yisen was already fully aware.
He didn’t answer Zhang Yuanyuan. Instead, after glancing at his wristwatch to check the time, he lowered his hand and calmly reminded, "Mrs. Bai, the doctor advised Munni needs to rest now. It’s getting late, please leave."
Xu Yisen’s intention to dismiss was made so obvious that Zhang Yuanyuan knew she couldn’t stay any longer.
As she stood up, she still voiced her request, "Chairman Xu, please help Siting. The child has a good heart, she was just momentarily led astray. Once she’s out, I will make sure she formally apologizes to Munni."
"I’m afraid that will have to wait at least three years."
