The Art of Pursuing: The Unyielding Ex-wife-Chapter 547: Okay, I’ll deal with you tonight
When he wanted to deepen the kiss, Munni subtly pushed him away, then whispered softly in his ear, "Restrain yourself in public."
Xu Yisen was somewhat amused by her teasing actions and then calling for a stop.
He had to reply softly in her ear, "Alright, I’ll deal with you tonight."
His ambiguous yet slightly threatening words made Munni blink innocently.
She obviously caught the hint in Xu Yisen’s words and guessed how he might deal with her tonight.
She pouted and sat quietly, no longer causing trouble.
Munni’s obedient reaction thoroughly amused Xu Yisen, and he habitually reached out, gently stroking her head.
The movie continued for another half an hour before it ended, and the lights in the theater came back on. Xu Yisen held Munni’s hand as they left the theater.
"There’s an arcade near the theater. Do you want to go play for a bit?"
"Hmm."
Xu Yisen nodded, letting Munni lead him out of the theater, heading towards the arcade just a five-minute walk away.
As they reached the entrance of the arcade, the phone in Xu Yisen’s pocket suddenly started buzzing.
He stopped to check the caller ID—it was a call from Tang Haoliang.
Tang Haoliang usually wouldn’t call during the holidays unless it was something important.
Suspecting it might be a company matter, he didn’t answer the call right away. Instead, he gently said to Munni, "You go ahead and play first, Secretary Tang might have something important to tell me."
"Okay, that’s fine." Munni nodded, released Xu Yisen’s hand, waved lightly as she headed into the arcade.
The automatic doors opened slowly as they sensed someone outside, and after watching her enter the arcade, Xu Yisen refocused his attention on the phone.
By then, Tang Haoliang’s call had already ended, so he called back.
The phone only rang twice before Tang Haoliang picked up.
"Chairman, Xia Weifu was bailed today."
Tang Haoliang’s words undoubtedly surprised Xu Yisen, because Xia Weifu’s bail was supposed to be a week later, why was it advanced?
With his pressure, the police couldn’t have released him early without reason.
"Did something happen?"
"Yes, it’s said that Xia Weifu fainted in prison at noon yesterday and was taken to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor diagnosed... late-stage lung cancer."
"What?"
"I heard he might not live for two more months, so the police had to contact his aunt first to bail him out."
For some reason, Xu Yisen felt that Xia Weifu’s early release wasn’t that simple, and he had a vague bad premonition.
"Is the doctor reliable?"
His implication was subtly asking Tang Haoliang whether the test results were credible and if Xia Yuge or the mafia might have bribed the doctor to get him out early.
"Yes, one of Xia Weifu’s uncles died of lung cancer years ago, it might be a hereditary lung disease."
Xu Yisen pursed his lips, silent for a few seconds before responding, "Alright, keep a close eye on him."
"Yes, Chairman."
After hanging up, Xu Yisen put the phone back in his pocket, his face losing the heaviness from the call with Tang Haoliang. Then he headed into the arcade to find Munni.
