Chapter 500: Chapter 501: Old Age Doesn’t Diminish Lust

"Adrian, this is a challenge to my character! I don’t appreciate it. I married you and have always kept myself pure, adhered to the duties of a wife, and been loyal to you. The way you talked tonight, it’s as if I had an affair."

"Then you shouldn’t have met Kenneth Brown!"

This petty man just wouldn’t let it go. Sienna Johnson saw a confrontation up ahead and really didn’t want to argue with him, so she cajoled, "Fine! Next time I go out, I’ll dress all in black, wear a black veil, and look like a Dhidiyya woman, with only my eyes exposed."

"Mmm, that works."

Sienna Johnson was speechless.

The sound of the quarrel up ahead grew louder. Sienna opened the car window and could hear clearly what they were saying.

"Jonas, haven’t I treated you well? Why do you want to leave me?" Yvette Harris asked.

Yvette was old enough to be Jonas’s mother, yet she still harbored thoughts of a May-December romance. Is this old cow still able to graze on tender grass? Sienna mused.

Sienna sighed. Old age certainly doesn’t dull one’s lust, she thought.

"I don’t want to be with you anymore," Russell Austin said, his face stern.

Yvette Harris looked arrogantly at Russell, her fierce gaze sweeping across Neve Harris’s face. When Yvette had first seen Neve, Neve was still a child, so Yvette didn’t recognize the grown-up Neve, only registering her as a beautiful young girl whose youthfulness sparked Yvette’s jealousy.

"Is it because of this young slip of a girl?" Yvette demanded, her sharp gaze scrutinizing Neve, making Neve feel a sting where her eyes landed.

Neve kept her head down, desperately trying to control herself, afraid that if she gave in to impulse, she wouldn’t be able to resist rushing forward to kill Yvette.

Russell had told her that while they wanted revenge, they also wanted a happy future. They couldn’t destroy themselves for the sake of vengeance.

It wasn’t worth risking their happiness for a woman like Yvette.

Yvette looked at Neve disdainfully. "Every woman has her youth. When I was young, I was even more beautiful than her."

Auntie, you’re old now, though, Sienna added mentally.

"Russell, let’s go," Neve tugged at Russell’s sleeve and whispered.

"Yes. Let’s go." Russell took Neve’s hand and walked to their toppled electric bike. He righted it, while Neve picked up the scattered fruits and vegetables from the ground.

Seeing that no one was paying attention to her, Yvette’s anger flared, and she lashed out, "Russell, I’m talking to you! Are you deaf? Look at this woman, so poorly raised. Besides being young and pretty, what else does she have?

Are you stupid?

How could you give up on me to be with this pauper?

What can she give you? 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

She can’t give you anything! If you two stay together, you’ll only become poorer. You’ll remain at the bottom of society, living a destitute life without dignity, your self-respect trampled upon at will by those with power and influence.

Is this the life you want?"

Russell stopped, his gaze cold and emotionless as he stated, "Yes, this is the life I want!"

"Besides," Russell continued, "I don’t believe Neve and I will always be poor. We have hands and feet; we’re capable. Whatever you possess now, by the time we reach your age, we’ll possess it too!"

"You’ve lost your mind to say such things!

Do you have any idea how expensive real estate in Sileria City is? Even if you two starved yourselves your entire lives, you still couldn’t afford a house!

Reach my age and be as wealthy as me?"

Yvette cackled. "Keep dreaming, you two paupers! When you’re old, you’ll be so poor you won’t even be able to get into a nursing home!"

"Say whatever you want!"

Russell knew he couldn’t reason with the woman before him and decided to push the electric bike away. It was broken and looked unrideable.

This Yvette was truly a persistent pest.

In fact, Yvette had sought him out privately several times, but he hadn’t expected her to corner him on the road like this.

Seeing that there was no reasoning with Russell, Yvette turned her sights on Neve.

The affections of young couples are often fragile; a slight misunderstanding can doom the relationship, Yvette thought.

Yvette said to Neve, "Did you know that this man was once my lover?"

Neve remained silent, her head still lowered.

"For money, this man let me keep him for many years. We’ve slept together countless times. He’s good in bed, has a handsome face, and I quite like him.

Do you really trust a man who willingly slept with me for money enough to marry him?"

If they were an ordinary couple, they would have started arguing long ago upon hearing such words.

But they were Russell and Neve.

Neve believed Russell, unconditionally.

"Russell, let’s go home early. You have to get up early for work tomorrow," Neve said gently.

"Mhm."

As they completely ignored Yvette, she became utterly enraged. "So, you refuse my kindness and choose the hard way! Fine, then I won’t be polite anymore!

You two," she barked at her men, "go over there and teach them a harsh lesson!"

Yvette stared at their young, beautiful faces, envy coiling inside her like a venomous snake. "I hate the sight of their faces. Ruin them for me," Yvette ordered maliciously.

Sienna Johnson, hearing this from a distance, felt a chill run down her spine. How can this woman be so vicious? she thought.

"Yvette, aren’t you afraid of retribution?" Neve suddenly yelled.

Yvette scoffed. "Retribution? Do you believe in that nonsense? Let me tell you, all that talk about ’what goes around comes around, retribution is certain’—that’s just what powerless poor people tell themselves to stomach harsh realities. It’s nothing but self-comfort. Only creatures like you, insignificant as ants, would believe in such things."

Yvette recalled that time years ago when Neve’s mother had taken Neve and left the Harris Family. Yvette, however, hadn’t let them off the hook. She had found some hooligans to intercept them, rob them of everything, and even try to humiliate Neve. Fortunately, Neve had managed to escape, but her mother had died. Those thugs were never caught, even to this day.

"Beat them! Beat them hard!" Yvette shrieked.

"These two paupers are a waste of food just by existing in this world!" Yvette’s expression twisted, her eyes fixed on Russell as if he were a mortal enemy.

Since this pretty boy wouldn’t obey, she might as well destroy him.

She was rich and powerful; pretty boys like him were a dime a dozen!

The two bodyguards, having received their orders, advanced, preparing to teach these two disrespectful people a harsh lesson. Sienna saw this and said to Adrian Desmond, "This is too much! Forcing good people into such situations, and then retaliating with violence when they refuse.

Adrian, you go and teach those two thugs a lesson!

No need to show mercy. Unleash your usual ruthlessness. If you cripple them, I’ll pay their medical bills!"

Adrian Desmond, a prestigious Boss, was being ordered around like a common underling by Sienna!

Wasn’t it overkill for the Sixth Master to personally handle a scuffle of this level?

Brett Jacobs couldn’t listen anymore and volunteered, "Madam, allow me."

"Both of you, go!"

"Madam, don’t worry. Never mind just those two; even if there were a dozen or twenty more, I could handle them."
