Chapter 502: Chapter 503: 520, Who Sent a House Full of Roses

The car sped down the highway, the scenery on both sides swiftly passing by. Halfway there, Sienna Johnson suddenly had a flash of inspiration—a cunning plan to deal with Yvette Harris.

Sienna said to Adrian Desmond, "I have a great idea on how to handle Yvette."

"Mhmm," Adrian responded coolly.

"Well, isn’t Yvette fond of pretty boys? I’ll send her a few more. These days, there are so many con artists cheating people out of both money and love. She likes money a lot, doesn’t she? So, I’m going to let her be swindled completely, leaving her penniless and loveless!"

Having said that, Sienna looked at him excitedly and asked, "This method might be a little vicious, but for someone like Yvette, I don’t need to worry about moral boundaries."

...

"What do you think about this idea?"

Adrian, indifferent to such matters, coldly replied, "Whatever you want."

Sienna started calculating in her mind, pondering where to find attractive men... Yvette liked men of Russell Austin’s type, so she would find someone who looked just like him. That’s what they call catering to someone’s preferences.

As the car drove onto Leigh Avenue, they saw several flower stalls along the road. Adrian thought about the date: May 19th. It wasn’t a special day. He remembered that vendors usually only sold flowers on the streets for Valentine’s Day, and today definitely wasn’t Valentine’s Day.

"Sienna, have you noticed there are a lot of flower sellers out today?"

"Mhmm."

"Is today some special occasion?"

"Not today. Tomorrow is."

"Tomorrow? What’s special about tomorrow?"

After Adrian arrived in Orienta, he learned that besides the Western Valentine’s Day, Orienta also had its own, known as the "Double Seventh Festival." Legend had it that the Queen Mother’s daughter fell in love with a mortal man, violating heavenly law. The couple was separated by the Milky Way, allowed to meet only once a year. The day they met became Orienta’s "Valentine’s Day."

"Tomorrow is May 20th. 520 sounds like ’I love you’ in Chinese!"

Adrian looked at Sienna in surprise. "May 20th is also Valentine’s Day?"

"Sort of."

"Tell me, just how many Valentine’s Days are there in Orienta?"

Sienna gazed out the car window at the flower stalls lining the road. They were doing good business, with many couples buying flowers. She chuckled. "For a couple in love, every day is Valentine’s Day."

"Does that mean I have to give you flowers every day?"

...

"Stop the car!" Adrian said abruptly.

The driver pulled over. As Adrian opened the door to get out, Sienna asked, "Where are you going?"

"Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, of course, I need to get you flowers. That’s how it always happens in TV shows. I’m going to buy you flowers."

"There’s no need; the flowers are especially expensive today. And another thing, can you, a grown man, please stop watching romance and idol dramas? That stuff will seriously rot your brain."

Ever since Sienna had once told him he didn’t understand women at all and wasn’t the least bit gentle, the Sixth Master, thoroughly provoked, had gone off the deep end—no, rather, he’d simply developed a fondness for romantic movies. The sappier the romance movie, the more he loved it, and he’d even drag Sienna to watch with him. Sienna felt she was long past the age for such sentimental fluff and truly couldn’t stand watching them. What was worse, he would pull her onto the bed to watch, analyzing characters’ personalities as they did, which even dampened their enthusiasm for intimacy.

"I think they’re quite good. You can learn a lot from watching romance movies."

"Alright, suit yourself."

"You women just don’t understand romance at all."

"I may not understand romance, but the Sixth Master does. Happy now?"

How amusing, Sienna thought. He thinks watching a few romance films makes him a romance expert, a true romantic. He probably doesn’t even know that many screenwriters these days have no romantic experience themselves, like the famous Leanne Andrews, for example.

Despite her words, Adrian still got out of the car. Romantic movies always said: Women are often insincere; when they say they don’t want something, they actually do. So, you should always do the opposite of what a woman says.

Sparing no expense, Adrian bought all the flowers from several nearby stalls. The back seat was soon piled high with roses, so much so that Sienna didn’t dare put her feet down for fear of crushing them.

"Oh dear, what a waste. One flower would have been enough."

"How could one be enough? My love for you requires many, many roses."

Sienna touched her cheek, feeling it grow warm. "Thank you! It’s a bit wasteful, but I really like them."

When Adrian presented the huge bouquet of roses to Sienna, he indeed saw a sweet, happy smile light up her face. Smiling while holding the flowers, she looked like a happy fool.

Women really do say one thing and mean another; their words should indeed be taken in reverse. See? Watching romance films and rom-coms has its benefits. At least, it’s very useful for men like him who haven’t interacted with women much before.

"You clearly like flowers, so why did you tell me not to buy them?"

"Wasn’t I just trying to save your money? See, that’s the difference between a wife and a mistress. A wife will save her husband’s money, while a mistress will do her best to squander it."

...

"So, Sixth Master, you must remain self-disciplined. Otherwise, no matter how much money you have, it won’t be enough for a mistress to spend."

"Just how insecure are you to keep instilling these thoughts in me? Besides, do you really think I’m that kind of person?"

"Isn’t it just a little preventative warning?"

"I really love the flowers, thank you. But next time, please don’t send so many. Even one would make me happy." Sienna gave him a peck on the cheek, holding the large bouquet tightly and refusing to let go.

Seeing how much she liked them, Adrian decided he would send her flowers more often in the future. Though, she liked lotus flowers, and those weren’t easy to buy.

"In our home in Abyanabad, I’ve planted many lotus flowers for you. When we get back to our house in Abyanabad, I’ll pick lotus flowers for you every day and put them in your bedroom, okay?"

"We’ll pick them together."

"Okay."

When they arrived back at the Johnson residence, Sienna and Adrian, each carrying a large bouquet of roses, headed inside.

"When you see Curly later, tell her the flowers in your arms are for her," Sienna instructed Adrian, knowing her daughter’s temper all too well. "She has quite a temper. If she finds out you only gave flowers to me and not her, she’ll throw a fit."

"Got it. I’m genuinely scared of your daughter," Adrian admitted, also quite troubled by the prospect. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Like father, like daughter."

"Are you implying I’m a bad seed?"

"The Sixth Master said that, not me."

Sienna quickened her pace and went inside.

Just as she stepped in, Sienna was stunned by the sight of roses filling the room. The living room was packed with red roses, their rich aroma permeating the air.

Sienna asked, "Adrian, is this your surprise for me?"

Seeing all these roses, Adrian was also surprised. These flowers were certainly not from him. So, which man courting death sent these? A murderous glint flashed in Adrian’s eyes.
