The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 576 - 617: I Just Like the Way You Get Jealous
"You’re going to deal with the Night Owl?" Walter Klein scoffed derisively.
"You’re belittling me?" This was a direct challenge to his abilities, an insult Jule couldn’t bear.
Walter Klein said seriously, "Your power is on par with Yan Wang’s, but Yan Wang was wiped out easily. Do you think rushing in recklessly gives you any chance of winning? Furthermore, do you even know where the Night Owl is?"
Jule was left speechless.
"Enough, everyone stop arguing," Adrian Desmond interjected.
"Sixth Master, what should we do now?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"He and I share a vendetta over my father’s murder; he’s here for me. You all need to be careful. I know Night Owl... he’s petty, vindictive, and psychologically twisted. He’ll target those close to me, slowly, like a cat playing with a mouse, before finally trying to destroy me." Adrian chuckled as he spoke. "However, it’s not certain yet who is the cat and who is the mouse."
"Sixth Master, are you confident about dealing with the Night Owl?"
"Not at the moment."
Adrian was in the open, while Night Owl remained in the shadows. Over the past ten years, Adrian had gradually transitioned towards being a legitimate businessman. He didn’t know to what extent Night Owl’s influence had grown during this decade.
Besides, compared to ten years ago, he now had a weakness! A fatal one!
"Sixth Master, does this mean we just sit here and wait for our doom?"
"Yes!"
"Then aren’t we in a very passive position?"
Adrian fiddled with the wedding ring on his ring finger, staring at it vacant-eyed for a long moment before he slowly replied, "Night Owl’s target is me, but he won’t confront me directly. He’ll start with the people and things around me. So, if anything unusual happens, none of you must let your guard down."
"..."
"No matter how cunning a fox is, it will eventually show its tail, especially one that fancies itself clever."
「...」
"Sienna, time to get up. We should eat."
Sienna Johnson opened her eyes to see Adrian Desmond and glared at him. Her glare left Adrian completely baffled. What on earth had he done to anger her this time?
"Are you unhappy?"
Sienna turned away. She realized she was on the bed, though she remembered dozing off while leaning against the sofa.
"Come on, tell me, who upset you?"
When he tried to touch her, she dodged. He tried again; she dodged again. They were acting like two petulant children.
"What’s wrong? Why are you giving me the cold shoulder again?" Adrian coaxed her in a gentle voice.
Sienna, too, felt that sulking like this was pointless. She sat up and stared at Adrian. "Why are you still keeping that photo of you and Melanie Carpenter?"
"What photo?"
"Still playing dumb!" Sienna got out of bed, went to the living room to retrieve the photo frame, and hurled it at Adrian. He caught it deftly, glanced at the photo, and understood.
Adrian burst out laughing—a laugh that, in Sienna’s eyes, sounded utterly brazen, shameless, and infuriating. Everything about him seemed wrong to her.
"Hmph!" With that, she spun around, throwing a small tantrum.
This didn’t anger Adrian at all; in fact, it pleased him. He loved seeing her jealous on his account.
This meant she truly cared about him.
"It’s just one photo. Is it worth getting this angry over?"
"Fine, Adrian. In that case, I’ll put my wedding photo with Kenneth Brown in my room too."
Adrian’s face darkened. "You dare!" he warned.
"If you dare, then so do I!"
Adrian sighed, removed the photograph from the frame, and tore the image, separating himself from Melanie Carpenter.
"Satisfied now?"
Are all pregnant women this capricious? Adrian wondered. Sienna seemed less and less like her usual self.
"Sixth Master, why so reluctant? I didn’t ask you to tear it. If you can’t bear to part with it, just tape it back together," she shot him a sidelong glance, her tone laced with a biting sarcasm.
"Such a jealous little thing..." He firmly pulled her onto his lap, held her close, and kissed her. "But I just love it when you’re jealous for me..."
"Who’s jealous of you?"
"Still denying it?"
"Yes, I’ll deny it!"
At first, she resisted, but as the kissing continued, her body softened.
Sienna, straddling him, cupped his face and declared possessively, "You are mine! Your eyes, your heart, they can only have me in them!"
"Who else could be in my eyes or my heart but you?"
"How would I know?"
Adrian pressed her down onto the bed, saying passionately, "Since you don’t know, let me show you who’s in my eyes and in my heart."
"Adrian!" she stopped him. She really didn’t know what to make of his tendency to get worked up anytime, anywhere.
"Don’t worry, this is my room. No one will disturb us."
"We just paid respects to your parents today. Doing this now... it’s not appropriate."
"Carrying on the family line, what’s inappropriate about that?"
"Stop trying to make it sound so noble. Aren’t you just trying to satisfy your own urges? I’m already pregnant; I don’t really need you for *that* right now."
Adrian continued to nuzzle her affectionately. "Mrs. Desmond, is this what they call ’kicking out the donkey once the grinding’s done’?"
She pinched his chin, playfully mimicking him. "Don’t worry, I still have uses for you. We’re not just having one or two kids; we should aim for at least eight or ten."
"You might as well kill me!"
Eight or ten? He’d have two at most. Even if this pregnancy resulted in another daughter, he would accept it. Two children, one for the Johnson family and one for the Desmond family, would be a good account to give the elders of both sides.
"Kill you? Why would I do that? You still have your uses."
"’What use? To provide you with sperm? For making babies?’ he grumbled.
"Exactly."
"You women always say one thing and mean another. You claim you don’t want it, but look how wet you are... I’m about to drown in it."
"Have you no shame?"
"Well, I’m not the one who’s all wet..."
Sienna was about to get angry again, but Adrian knew when to stop. He got off her and didn’t tease her further. Sienna finally let out a sigh of relief.
With all those men outside, she really didn’t want to be intimate with Adrian in a place where she felt no sense of privacy or safety.
"My sister will be staying with us for a few days. You should try to talk to her, offer some guidance."
Sienna looked at Adrian in surprise. "What happened to your sister?"
"She wants a divorce!"
"A divorce from the Prince of Abyanabad?"
"Yes."
Sienna felt a headache coming on. "Didn’t you say that divorce isn’t really a thing for men in Abyanabad? Can the royal family just get divorced so easily? Even if they do, your sister wouldn’t be able to take Dylan with her, would she?"
"Try to persuade her. If divorce can be avoided, it should be."
Although Adrian had married only one woman for Sienna’s sake, deep down, as a traditional Abyanabad man, he genuinely didn’t see anything wrong with a man having multiple wives. Thus, even though it concerned his own sister, he didn’t think there was any issue with Kiya marrying the Princess of Pelindi, as long as Kiya could guarantee that Paige Desmond’s status remained superior to that of the Pelindi princess.
