Chapter 595: Chapter 636: Xavier Young Changes

"Do you hate Adrian Desmond?"

"Yes!"

"It was my fault back then; it had nothing to do with him. If you want to hate someone, hate me... Really... I’m sorry!"

Xavier Young gazed at the increasingly beautiful woman with fascinated eyes. She had changed too. Her temperament was gentler and more charming, attracting him even more.

"I love you! Even if you kill me, I won’t resent you."

Sienna Johnson stared in shock at the man before her, panicking at his sudden confession. "No! No! Don’t love me. I’m not good enough, and I don’t love you. I love Adrian Desmond."

"You fell in love with Adrian Desmond?"

"Yes!"

"I remember you used to hate him so much. What happened? What made you change your mind and fall in love with such a cold and ruthless man?"

Sienna defended Adrian Desmond, saying, "Sixth Master is a good person. He may be cold and cruel to others, but he treats me well."

"So, you no longer plan to escape from Adrian Desmond, do you?"

"Yes!"

The man opposite her let out a cold snort and chuckled. To Sienna, however, his laughter sounded more like mockery.

Sienna remained silent, unsure of what she was feeling.

Back then, I had no qualms about using Xavier. In my eyes, Adrian Desmond and his subordinates were not good people. As long as I could escape, I was willing to use any means necessary. But now my status has changed—from being Adrian Desmond’s lover to his wife. My perspective and approach to those past events have altered, and my previous behavior seems inappropriate.

They both fell silent. After all, so many years had passed, and they didn’t have much to talk about.

Xavier Young, for some reason, remained seated across from her, showing no signs of leaving. At Sienna’s feet were numerous packages, all Madam Johnson’s spoils from shopping. She couldn’t carry them all by herself, so even if she wanted to find an opportunity to slip away, it was impossible.

The man opposite her kept staring, as if he expected a flower to bloom on her face. Sienna felt compelled to find a topic of conversation to break the awkward silence.

"Do you own this store?" she asked, noticing Xavier wore the custom black apron of the store’s staff.

"It belongs to my sister-in-law. My brother got married. The store was busy today, so I came to help. My brother... do you still remember him? Maxwell Young."

"Of course, I remember."

The Young brothers, Xavier and Maxwell, had once worked under Adrian Desmond. Maxwell, in particular, had been highly valued by him.

Later, after that incident, Maxwell Young left, taking Xavier with him.

"What are you doing now?"

"Working for someone else."

"Oh."

Xavier took out a cigarette, about to smoke. Sienna frowned. "Sorry, I’m pregnant. Could you please not smoke in front of me?"

His gaze moved downwards, as if trying to see her stomach, but he couldn’t from across the table.

He kept the unlit cigarette between his lips, a silver lighter flipping open and shut in his hand.

The constant CLICK, CLICK of the lighter filled Sienna’s ears. She glanced at her watch. I hope Mother and the others get back soon.

"Whose child is it?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

Sienna found his question odd. "Of course, it’s Adrian Desmond’s child. We’re married."

His gaze darkened, becoming like a black, winter night. I can’t find any of the warmth he once had in his eyes.

"I remember you didn’t like Adrian Desmond at all back then. You even wanted me to help you escape from him."

"At first, I didn’t understand him well. But after getting to know him, Adrian Desmond is actually quite nice."

"He forced you, didn’t he?"

Sienna said nothing.

"You weren’t willing, were you?"

Again, silence.

"Do you still want to escape from Adrian Desmond?"

"Adrian Desmond and I..."

Xavier interrupted Sienna, continuing as if talking to himself, "...Back then, I didn’t have the ability to help you. Now, if you want to leave Adrian Desmond, I can help you..."

Sienna didn’t let him continue. She cut him off, making her stance clear.

"Adrian Desmond is a great person, and I love him. I married him willingly. We also have a daughter who looks a lot like Sixth Master. We’re very happy now."

Their gazes met. Sienna no longer avoided his, allowing Xavier to look at her directly. She didn’t want anyone to misunderstand her relationship with Adrian Desmond. Nor did she want Xavier to entertain inappropriate thoughts and make another mistake.

I love Adrian Desmond, and we’re very happy together. I want things to stay this way.

"Mommy..."

Curly, dressed in a red skirt, rushed in energetically, nearly bumping into Sienna’s stomach. Rosie Cooper managed to stop the reckless child just in time.

"Who told you to run like that? This place is full of people. What if you’d bumped into someone?"

Curly stuck out her tongue. "Sorry, Mommy, I won’t run around anymore."

As if anyone would believe that, Sienna thought. Curly always apologized with such sincerity, but then she’d go right back to making the same mistakes.

Sienna took out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from her daughter’s forehead. "Are we done shopping? Can we go home now?"

Curly grabbed the pulled tea from the table and gulped it down with gusto, showing no signs of ladylike behavior. Sienna didn’t stop her, just watched as she finished the entire drink and even let out a satisfied burp.

"I was so thirsty!" Curly exclaimed, having drunk with abandon.

Only Curly had returned; Pauline Briggs and Samara hadn’t come back with her. Sienna asked Rosie Cooper, who was nearby, "Why is only Curly back? Where are my mom and my sister?"

"Curly got tired of shopping and didn’t want to anymore, so I brought her back."

"Mommy, I’m exhausted! Rub my legs and massage my shoulders," Curly ordered her mother.

"Go on now," Sienna said. "Wait until we get home, and your father can dote on you."

"Mommy, you don’t love me at all!"

"That’s right, I don’t love you."

"Humph! Daddy loves me!"

Curly sat beside her mother, swinging her little legs and playing by herself. Sienna instructed Rosie Cooper, "Could you go get my mom and my sister? Tell them it’s time for us to go home."

"Yes, Madam."

Adrian Desmond had surrounded Sienna and Curly with many unseen bodyguards, so Rosie wasn’t worried about leaving the two of them alone in the milk tea shop.

"Is this your daughter?"

Sienna had almost forgotten about the man sitting across from her. She gently patted her daughter’s head, her gaze soft as she looked at the child’s profile. "Yes, she’s so mischievous. Her father and I are often at our wits’ end with her."

In truth, Adrian Desmond was the one who had spoiled Curly to this extent. Sienna often warned him that he would spoil their daughter, but he continued to indulge her, citing that he had missed out on her growth in the past.

"Curly, say ’Uncle’."

Around people she knew well, Curly was wild. In front of strangers, however, she put on a remarkably polite act. Her deceptive appearance often led others to believe she was a well-behaved, obedient, and pretty little girl.
