The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 642 - 683: Your Highness Searching for a Wife
So much valuable jewelry. Sienna Johnson couldn’t understand what was going on.
She looked at Adrian Desmond and asked, "Dan Taylor, is there something he needs from you, so he’s using Deanne to give me this jewelry?"
In the country, many corrupt government officials couldn’t operate without their families fanning the flames.
"If Dan Taylor really needs something from me, he would talk to me directly and not use such an obscure method." Adrian paused, then added, "Besides, even though we’re always roughhousing, Dan Taylor and I are actually good friends. If we weren’t, he would have been furious long ago when I kicked him."
"Then I’ll return it to her."
Adrian Desmond stopped her. "Forget it. Since it’s a gift for you, just accept it. We’ll have dealings with the Taylor family anyway. In the future, you can give her a gift of equal value."
"Alright." Indeed, although these jewels were valuable, they were a gift. If she returned them now, it would be awkward for Deanne.
Adrian Desmond took the slightly heavy jewelry box for Sienna Johnson, and they walked out. Just as he was about to get into the car, a man approached them.
"Mr. Desmond, our Highness invites you."
Adrian Desmond squinted at the man before him. It was Kiya’s Chief Guard, Lance.
"I don’t have time!"
Lance was exasperated. Their great Highness himself had extended the invitation, and Adrian Desmond had just refused so bluntly! Where was their Highness supposed to put his face after this?
"Mr. Desmond, our Highness wants to talk to you about the matter concerning the Princess Consort and the Little Prince..." Adrian let Sienna get into the car first. Just as he was about to get in himself, Lance stopped him, "Mr. Desmond, it won’t take much of your time..."
Adrian disregarded him and got into the car. As he was about to close the door, a man blocked it. Adrian looked up at the person who dared to block his car and saw it was Kiya.
He was actually willing to condescend and personally come looking for him; it seemed he finally understood the seriousness of the situation.
Kiya had lost weight. Under the bright streetlights, his dark circles were apparent, and his eyes were red and bloodshot. It seemed Kiya hadn’t been living well recently.
Was it because his wife had run away, or because of state affairs?
"Your Highness, what can I do for you?"
Feigning ignorance, Kiya replied, "I’m here for my Princess Consort and son."
"Your Highness, I will tell you everything. Please let go!" Adrian said, his tone already quite polite.
"Where have you hidden the Princess Consort and my son?"
"I didn’t hide them. If they wanted to go back to you, they could at any time. But... they don’t want to go back at all. Let go!"
Kiya had endured a miserable month, with sleepless nights and days spent forcing smiles to deal with government dignitaries, princes, and nobles. He was exhausted, physically and mentally.
In the past, when he was away for longer periods, Paige would call every night. Though it sometimes felt like she was checking up on him, it made him feel at ease. Now, forget phone calls or text messages; she would turn off her phone whenever he called. For the entire month he was away, her phone hadn’t been turned on once.
This wasn’t just a matter of face; Kiya loved Paige. How could they possibly get a divorce? Since Kiya was the one asking for a favor, he didn’t dare put on his usual royal airs, especially since his brother-in-law had no regard for the royal family whatsoever.
When he and Paige had decided to get married, Adrian found out and beat him up severely, accusing him of abducting his beloved sister. To think, he was a dignified prince, and countless women were lining up to marry him.
"Brother, Sister-in-law also left with Curly before, so you must understand how I feel right now. If you have any dissatisfaction with me, you can tell me, and I can change. You don’t want me and Paige to really get a divorce, do you?"
Calling him ’Brother’ didn’t soften Adrian’s attitude. "I will always stand on my sister’s side. If my sister wants to divorce you, I will naturally agree."
"How can we divorce? What about Dylan?"
"Can’t our Desmond family raise a child?"
Kiya also became angry, threatening, "Dylan is my Little Prince! It’s not your family’s turn to raise him! Tell me where you hid my Princess Consort and son. Quickly! Otherwise, I’ll take back all the privileges I gave you!"
This man really doesn’t know how to talk, Sienna thought. Perhaps they don’t usually interact much, so Kiya doesn’t understand Adrian’s personality. Adrian would never fall for such words anyway.
Sure enough, Adrian replied coldly, "Whatever! Worst case scenario, I’ll emigrate!" The subtext was clear: You’ll never see your wife and son again in this lifetime!
Kiya’s expression turned grim. He was used to being in a superior position and constantly flattered; he found it hard to humble himself now.
Adrian wanted to leave, but Kiya blocked the car door, refusing to let them go. The two grown men were in a standoff.
Finally, it was Sienna who spoke. "Your Highness, why don’t we talk in the car?"
Sienna gave everyone a way out. Kiya, as if afraid Adrian would object, immediately got into the car.
The luxurious van was very spacious inside. A small table held fruit and snacks, prepared for Sienna in case she got hungry.
Seeing that Sienna was more approachable, Kiya asked, "Do you know where my Princess Consort and son went?"
Sienna wasn’t stupid and naturally wouldn’t reveal Paige and Dylan’s whereabouts. She could see that Paige and Dylan were very happy on the island. Even Dylan had become more cheerful; he had tanned and grown stronger.
Dylan might have been born frail, but his frequent illnesses were mostly because he was coddled. Now, on the island with Curly, roughhousing and playing, he had become much stronger.
"They’re doing very well now," Sienna said.
Kiya looked hurt and asked, "Has Dylan been asking for me?"
"To be honest, no."
Kiya was very hurt, deeply hurt.
"If you don’t want to divorce Paige, you need to show some sincerity." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"What sincerity?"
"Why did Paige leave? Why does she insist on divorcing you? Don’t you still understand why, even now?"
If this man still didn’t understand why Paige insisted on a divorce, then she wouldn’t bother saying any more.
Kiya’s face was filled with gloom and conflict. "My mother, the Queen, initially wanted me to marry her niece. But I married Paige instead, so my mother hasn’t treated Paige well all these years."
Adrian glared at him. "Is it ’not very well,’ or *very* badly?"
"I’m sorry. I promised you before that I would make Paige happy."
"She’s not happy now!"
Adrian was clearly ready to lay blame, and it looked like the discussion was about to break down again. Sienna interjected, "And you? What’s your stance in all this?"
