The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 646 - 687: The Two Mothers Who Started Quarreling
Sienna Johnson remained calm and composed, knowing that every word she spoke would undoubtedly irritate Aria Harris, which was precisely her intention.
"You haven’t forgotten that your son is still with the Desmond Family, have you? It costs money for him to eat, drink, and sleep there, and George isn’t an orphan. How can you not contribute a single dollar?"
"Are you cursing us to die?" Aria Harris threw the box of chocolates on the floor, assuming a defensive posture.
Sienna slightly furrowed her brows but maintained a delicate smile. In contrast to Aria’s frustration, Sienna appeared utterly calm and collected.
"Mrs. Hunter, I’m just stating a fact!"
Adrian Desmond stood by silently. Owen Hunter looked at the nonchalant man beside him, feeling envious. He couldn’t let the two women argue in public; ultimately, he would be the one to lose face.
"Why are you both arguing over such a trivial matter?" Owen tried to play the peacemaker, but his intervention had little effect; no one paid him any attention.
Both women turned their ire to Owen. Sienna said, "Mr. Hunter, are you planning to dump your son on us and not care about him?"
"Owen, I’m your wife! Who are you helping?" Aria screamed.
Owen glanced at the composed Adrian Desmond and finally understood why he hadn’t said a word. Getting involved would only bring trouble upon himself. It was none of his business; he was innocent!
"Fine, I’ll pay you. Isn’t that enough?"
Owen dared to offer, and Sienna didn’t hesitate to accept. "Give me three times the standard kindergarten fee here."
"Why don’t you just rob us?" Aria yelled.
"Mrs. Hunter, besides room and board, your son is also being taught martial arts by the best close quarter combat master on the island. I have to charge something for this training."
"..."
Sienna said to Owen, "Mr. Hunter, Mrs. Hunter is extremely stingy."
"What do you mean, stingy? Explain yourself!"
"The price I just quoted you is already a discount. Why are you acting like I’ve taken huge advantage of you? If you’re not happy, take your son home. But don’t give me attitude..."
"When have I ever given you attitude? Aren’t you the one being unreasonable?"
"You’re giving me attitude right now, acting as if I owe you the world."
"..."
"Aria, you know, whenever you see my daughter, you have that same look in your eyes... Why do you treat her like she owes you something? She doesn’t owe you anything..."
Sienna bluntly exposed Aria’s dark thoughts with a calm yet cold tone.
"..."
"Can’t you see one thing clearly? It’s your son who’s always pestering my daughter. If you were constantly being followed by someone you didn’t like, wouldn’t you get annoyed?"
Sienna was also getting angry. Aria had given her daughter the cold shoulder, with a look that implied Curly had lured George. In reality, it was George who constantly followed Curly. During their trip to the island, he had insisted on tagging along, and no one could dissuade him.
"...And as George’s mother, you actually blame my daughter for all this? On what grounds? Curly owes you nothing."
"What’s so wrong with my son that your daughter always bullies him? Do you know he’s my only son? Our whole family treasures him! But to Curly, it’s as if I gave birth to a pile of shit..."
Aria completely exploded. Owen couldn’t even get a word in now. If he had known it would come to this, he definitely would have taken a detour.
"Your son is a treasure, so my daughter has to like him? Ha! That’s laughable. Who do you think your son is? Dollar bills? Does the whole world have to love him, and it’s a mistake not to?"
"..."
"Please don’t give my daughter such looks in the future. She’s done nothing wrong. Curly has already been more than accommodating. If you still think it’s my daughter’s fault, then manage your George better and keep him away from her."
"..."
"Mrs. Hunter, please don’t treat my daughter this way again! Otherwise, as her mother, I’ll have to resort to drastic measures." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Aria’s face turned red with anger. "Sienna Johnson, what did I do to your daughter?"
"With your eyes, you told her that Curly is bad, a bad child!"
"..."
"My daughter is not a bad child, but I can be a bad woman!"
Sienna said to Owen, "You and Adrian are friends, so we’ll waive the living expenses. We’ll send George back to the Hunter Family in the next couple of days. Please, when he returns, teach him a lesson: distance makes the heart grow fonder!"
Owen said seriously, "We’ll pick up the child tomorrow!"
"Alright, fine."
The atmosphere was tense, and the four of them stood in silence.
Before leaving, Adrian glanced at Owen, his lips pressed tightly together, then followed Sienna into the car. Oh no, Owen thought, Adrian’s clearly unhappy.
After Adrian and Sienna left, Owen approached his sobbing wife and tried to console her. "What on earth were you thinking today?"
Aria glared at her husband. "What did I do? What did I do wrong? She was clearly bullying me, and you didn’t even help me."
"How could I help you? If I stepped in, Adrian would definitely help Sienna. Do you want me to fight Adrian? You’ve seen how ruthless he can be. Would you prefer I lose an arm or a leg?"
Aria fell silent.
Owen sighed. "Our George is indeed too thick-skinned... Let’s just bring him back tomorrow. I’ll hire more bodyguards to watch him and keep him away from Curly."
"You know George’s temperament. Do you think he’ll accept that?" Aria was also at her wit’s end with her son.
"Whether he likes it or not, he’ll have to. Before, it was just Curly who didn’t like George. Now, even Sienna is unhappy, and you’re full of resentment towards Curly. If this continues, the relationship between our two families will inevitably be ruined. I don’t want our potential marriage alliance to fail and end up losing Adrian as a friend."
"Alright, bring him back. Keep a close eye on him. He’s still young; he’ll forget about it when he’s older."
Aria knew her attitude was wrong. She resented Curly—resented her for not liking George, resented her for not appreciating him... If this went on, she’d need to see a psychiatrist.
"Let’s go. We’ll go to the shop and see if the custom-made cake is ready."
Owen looked at his wife’s desolate expression, his heart aching with pity. He gently took her hand, and they walked into the chocolate shop.
Aria had initially opened the chocolate shop out of boredom, just for fun. Unexpectedly, the business had flourished, becoming a well-known chocolate store in Abyanabad.
