The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 748 - 789: Mrs. Quan Receives a Marriage Proposal
"This car isn’t cheap, is it?"
"Not expensive!"
Sienna Johnson was silent for a moment.
"If you like it, I’ll give you one."
Sienna Johnson’s clear eyes swept towards Xavier Young as she chuckled. "Xavier, you’ve really changed a lot. A car worth tens of millions, you buy it just like that and even say it’s not expensive. No wonder you were just trying to persuade Brett Jacobs to leave Sixth Master and strike out on his own. It seems that after leaving Sixth Master, you’ve indeed done quite well for yourself."
The long-unheard nickname "Xavier" made Xavier Young pause.
Time seemed to rewind. She was still that cunning, ruthless woman who knew he disliked her calling him ’Xavier’ yet deliberately did so, watching him jump in anger before bursting into laughter. She was a beautiful, cunning woman, vibrant with life like a little wildcat.
Once, he had seen Sienna Johnson by the sea, whistling as she walked. When she reached the end of the pier, she coolly flipped her hair, turned, and walked back, still whistling. Her movements were nimble, her spirits high. In that instant, Xavier Young’s heart had skipped a beat.
For the first time, his heart held a woman, and thereafter, there was no room for anyone else.
"Say it again. I like it when you call me ’Xavier’."
"Xavier Young!" She would no longer call him "Xavier" with such intimacy.
"Get in." His eyes betrayed a hint of disappointment, but he gentlemanly opened the car door for her, inviting her in.
Sienna Johnson glanced at him and asked, "Can you release Elliot Carpenter?"
"Get in the car!"
Sienna Johnson entered the car. Xavier Young walked around the back of the vehicle and got in from the other side, the two of them sitting side-by-side in the rear seat.
Himakati was hotter than Abyanabad. As soon as she was in the car, the strong air conditioning made her sneeze. Xavier Young thoughtfully asked the driver to raise the AC temperature.
"I remember you’re not exactly a kind woman. That Elliot Carpenter is your rival’s father. Are you really willing to save him?"
Xavier Young hadn’t answered earlier, leading Sienna Johnson to believe he didn’t want to discuss the topic. She hadn’t expected him to bring it up again.
"I’m saving Elliot Carpenter not because he’s Melanie Carpenter’s father, but because he’s Adrian Desmond’s uncle."
Xavier Young sneered. "You really do love him... To think, back then, you seduced me just to escape Adrian. Now, for his sake, you’re willing to swallow your pride and save Elliot Carpenter."
"Women are often moved by a man’s persistence and subsequently fall in love."
"Then, will my persistence move you?"
Sienna Johnson touched her belly. "Not anymore. I’m a mother of two now. In my heart, no one is more important than my children."
"Not even Adrian Desmond is as important as your two children?"
"Correct!" Sienna Johnson replied without hesitation.
"Haha... If Sixth Master found out, he’d probably get jealous again."
"His own children? Why would he be jealous? His love for our two children is no less than mine."
This was Sienna Johnson’s second visit to Himakati. The first time, she had been trafficked here by Charlie Parker. Back then, terrified and disoriented, she’d had no inclination to learn about the country. Now, looking around properly, she realized just how impoverished it truly was.
There were no soaring skyscrapers, only low-rise multi-story buildings. Few cars were on the roads, and the pedestrians’ faces were etched with the weariness of their struggles.
The drug trade hadn’t enriched this nation; instead, it had plunged it deeper into poverty.
"...Actually, I’ve been searching for you all these years too," Xavier Young said suddenly.
"Oh, really?" Her disinterest was palpable, her tone dismissive.
"I never imagined you were Orienta and that even your name was false... Adrian Desmond is quite pitiful, really; you’ve been deceiving him from the very start... Just as you deceived me initially..."
"I’m sorry for using you back then." She apologized sincerely. She shouldn’t have toyed with a man’s affections merely to escape, especially when that man had been genuine.
"An apology, huh? Easy for you to say."
"I never thought you’d take it seriously."
"And why would you assume I wouldn’t be serious?"
Sienna Johnson scoffed. "In a country that practices polygamy, how could we believe any of you truly understand love?"
"Then let me tell you, there *is* such a thing as love in my heart. I love you! Marry me!"
Sienna Johnson hadn’t expected him to propose under such circumstances.
"If Adrian Desmond and I didn’t have children, I might have considered it. But now that we have children, it’s impossible!"
Sienna Johnson stated her position unequivocally, leaving no room for misinterpretation.
"He can give you children, and so can I!"
Sienna Johnson frowned at him. "You were by Adrian Desmond’s side for several years. Don’t you understand his nature? If I were to betray him, forget about me ever seeing my children again—you wouldn’t survive either."
"Do you think I’m afraid of him?" A fierce glint appeared in Xavier Young’s eyes.
Sienna Johnson said nothing.
"At the hospital earlier, I could have killed him at any moment!" Murderous intent flashed in Xavier Young’s eyes.
"If you killed Adrian Desmond, you wouldn’t get away either!"
"You certainly have a lot of faith in Adrian Desmond! Too bad for him, look, he’s half-dead now. He might just slip away in his sleep and never wake up."
He took out a cigar, intending to smoke. He lit it and had taken only a single puff when Sienna Johnson stopped him.
"I’m pregnant. Please don’t smoke in my presence." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"So, Adrian Desmond can’t smoke in front of you either?"
"Correct."
"You truly have him wrapped around your finger." The emotion in Xavier Young’s voice was unreadable.
Ultimately, Xavier Young refrained from smoking. There was an aura about Sienna Johnson that compelled compliance.
The car drove into the mountains. After navigating a winding mountain road for a while, vast expanses of dazzling red came into view, as vibrant as blood, as fierce as fire.
In stark contrast to the brilliant poppies were emaciated farmers, resembling refugees from Goldland, stooped over their arduous labor in the poppy fields.
"Are those all poppies?" Sienna Johnson asked, shocked.
"Yes. Beautiful, aren’t they?" he whispered beside her ear. "To me, they’re exquisite—just like you. Beautiful, alluring, and deadly..."
"You’re a major drug lord now."
"Correct."
She knew that in this region, poppies were cultivated by farmers like any other crop. Yet, hearing about it and witnessing it firsthand evoked entirely different feelings within her.
Facing the immense fields of poppies, their flowers as seductive as flames, as wicked as sin, her heart quivered, and a profound unease settled over her that took a long time to subside.
"What’s wrong? Why do you look so pale?"
"In Orienta, cultivating poppies is illegal."
"Sienna, this isn’t Orienta! This is Himakati—the lawless Himakati!"
