Chapter 802: Madam, I’m Sorry.

[Anteca: Prime Group]

"What are you still doing?!" Penny shouted as she slammed her hands on the desk, an earpiece in her ear. "My husband, my brothers, and my dad are all in there! Find a way to regain communication with them!"

"Mark! Mark!" she kept shouting, knowing her chief bodyguard was with her father. "God damn it! I’m going to kill all of you! There’s not much time! They need to get out of there! NOW!"

There was only a minute left before the bomb would detonate, and with how powerful it was, the group needed to be far away. The blast would take not just the entire buildings, but the entire holy grounds. That was why many of them were already moving toward safer points.

However, she hadn’t seen a shadow of her husband, her brothers, her father, or even those who went with them.

"Are they all crazy!?" she roared, almost breathing fire in distress. "Are they all planning to leave the women in this family widows?! Is forming a widow club their agenda tonight?!"

Yugi, who was trying to focus on the team, paused and glanced at Penny. The latter was starting to morph into a real dragon, crying curses that weren’t helpful at this point.

Earlier, Penny was still calm. But now that the timer had hit the last-minute mark and there were still no signs of the Bennet men and her husband, she began to spiral. Then again, if Penny had been there herself, she would’ve been the first to run to where Atlas was.

It was just that since she already had children, she had to stay back and provide support. Now, it was clear she regretted not going and was losing her mind.

"Sir Yugi," the man seated next to him said worriedly, "I think you should stop Miss Penny. She’s going to start breathing fire and bomb us all here."

Yugi knocked on the table. "Just focus on that. Haven’t you heard from the analyst we contacted about the bomb?"

"We did. They said there’s no point."

Yugi breathed out heavily, glancing at the countless monitors before them, which were behind Penny. From one of them, he finally spotted his sister, Yuri, running away from one of the buildings with an entire team.

Yet, Yugi didn’t feel any relief. He didn’t feel like he deserved to when Penny was beginning to lose her mind.

"Keep working with the other team, everyone!" he shouted. "Make sure everyone gets out of the danger zone! Find a way to contact them! Hack anything in that place to form any kind of communication!"

His voice echoed — not as loud as Penny’s, but enough for everyone to focus on him instead. After all, if they spent even a second listening to Penny, the pressure would overwhelm them.

"We’ve found one!" Suddenly, one man shouted, his hands flying over two keyboards. Both he and the others beside him worked at high speed.

"Sending the data to Pika!"

"Pika receiving it!" someone from across the room shouted. "Come on, guys!"

"Keep working!"

"Buy them time!"

With this breakthrough, everyone became fired up, working ten times faster than before. None of them had taken a break. Some even forgot to take a leak as lives were on the line.

Not to mention — their big boss’s family was on the line.

If they died...

Penny would kill them all.

She was the ticking time bomb they got in this place.

Penny stopped when she heard the shouting. She marched toward the nearest desk, checking the monitors to understand the situation. But before she could process anything with her overstimulated mind, something flashed in the corner of her vision.

Her breath hitched, her eyes dilated as she turned toward the front monitors and saw one building explode.

Then another.

Then the one beside it.

Finally, the explosion erupted at the very place she had been watching closely — where all her loved ones were.

"No," she breathed out, staggering back before falling onto the floor with a thud.

Everyone else also stopped working, collectively looking up at the large flames captured by the aerial cameras.

Penny’s mouth quivered as her eyes trembled.

"...no."

[Holy Grounds: Lola]

"HAHAHA!"

Melissa’s maniacal laughter echoed through the air along with gunfire as she kept pulling the trigger without hesitation. Meanwhile, Lola stayed hidden behind the wall and checked the time.

"Shit," Lola ground her teeth. She didn’t have much time left.

She had heard the timer stop briefly and slow down, but with everything happening, it was hard to keep track.

From what she knew, they had gained just enough time.

Bitterness swelled in her chest as she glanced back — bullets striking the pillar while Melissa laughed.

"You..." she breathed out, a glint flashing across her eyes. "...just because..."

A second later, just as a sniper rifle appeared behind Melissa, the latter pulled the trigger.

Clack.

"Huh?" Melissa paused, pulling the trigger again.

Clack.

"This stupid thing—"

Before she could finish blaming the abused rifle, a loud bang rang out. Then right away, pain exploded in her leg.

"Ahhh!"

Her knees buckled — and before she knew it, Lola leaped from behind the pillar and delivered a kick across her jaw.

Melissa’s head snapped to the side as her body rolled across the ground, screaming from both her leg and jaw.

"Ahh!!" She clutched her thigh, only to feel her jaw throb as well.

BANG!

"Ahh!"

Her hand flew to her ear. When she pulled it away, all she saw was blood.

Then...

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Lola approached Melissa, each bullet striking non-fatal points. Unlike Melissa, who had wasted two rifles on the pillar and blamed the weapon, Lola didn’t waste a single shot.

When Lola stopped, she stood over Melissa, whose body was slipping into shock — yet whatever she was on still gave her enough strength to look up.

Enough to feel fear.

Lola stared down at her coldly, her pistol steady in her hands. This woman wasn’t worth a breath, and if she got plenty of time, she would take her time. After all, Melissa had already shown everything she had to Lola when the latter was paralyzed, and Lola was certain that this woman’s time in Ravah — or wherever Melissa was trained — was not enough.

"Just because someone handed you power and weapons... doesn’t make you better," Lola whispered. "You are... still the same, Melissa."

BANG!

Melissa flinched, but the bullet struck the ground an inch from her face.

"Even if you survive this, those bullets hit places that won’t kill you," Lola muttered. "But you will never be the same again. You’ll be paralyzed for the rest of your life."

She lowered the rifle slightly.

"So... hope you die tonight."

Lola turned to leave, only to see Izu running back toward her.

"Madam, we have to go!" Izu panted as he grabbed her arm and dragged her along. "NOW!"

"Wait—!" Lola shouted, stumbling as she followed. "What about Atlas?!" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"I don’t know, but I was told we have to go!"

"What?!" Lola shouted as she pressed her earpiece. "Allen! Scarlet! What about Atlas?! Hey! Talk to me!"

All she heard was silence. Then, a second later...

"Madam... I’m sorry," Allen said.

Lola barely processed it before an explosion erupted behind them, sending both her and Izu flying forward from the impact.
