The Billionaire's New Wife in Chief-Chapter 275 - 168 Perhaps He Just Didn’t Want to See Her
Chapter 275: Chapter 168 Perhaps He Just Didn’t Want to See Her
Raising his hand, he turned the originally warm water instantly cold, allowing the gradually chilling water to cascade down his head and spread over his entire body. Even though the weather was a bit hot, not everyone is accustomed to taking cold showers. Anyone else would have shivered uncontrollably, yet the man seemed unaffected. Eyes closed, hand braced against the wall, the overpowering heat within him made him gasp for air. Despite the steady stream of cold water drenching him, his body still felt ablaze.
Ten minutes later, Lu Jingchen walked out of the bathroom in his bathrobe, his eyes blurry with confusion. Water was still dripping from his hair, running down his neck and onto his bathrobe.
His gaze first fell upon the large bed in the bedroom, yet the woman who should have been there was nowhere to be seen. His expression darkened, and suddenly he remembered the barely perceptible hurt he had seen on her face just a moment ago. His Adam’s apple bobbed, but without any hesitation, he headed straight for the door.
Just as he reached the door, ready to open it, he hadn’t even touched the handle when the door swung open from the outside. First, he was greeted by the unmistakably familiar scent of his usual shower gel, followed by the sight of a woman wearing a spaghetti-strap dress and an overcoat.
Song Qiao was startled when she saw him, and then asked, "Do you... need to go out again?"
Lu Jingchen’s gaze moved from her face and slowly settled on the bowl of steaming hangover soup in her hand.
Seeing that Lu Jingchen’s attention was on the bowl of hangover soup, Song Qiao quickly explained, "I smelled the alcohol on you earlier and guessed you must have drunk quite a bit, so I made you some hangover soup. Would you like some?"
The exquisitely beautiful ceramic bowl had been picked out by them when they were shopping for furniture; they were all matching and very attractive, and Song Qiao liked them very much.
Lu Jingchen remained silent, shifting his intense and penetrating gaze back to her face, standing motionless in front of her as if casting an impenetrable net around her.
Perhaps it was the man’s intense scrutiny that made Song Qiao utterly uncomfortable. She looked up to meet his eyes and asked, "Do you want to drink it? If not, I will let..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the hangover soup was already taken from her hand by him, and he finished it in one gulp.
"Let’s go to sleep," he said in a low, husky voice, which held a seductive quality that was hard to ignore.
After finishing the soup, Lu Jingchen placed the bowl aside and casually closed the door behind her.
Song Qiao wanted to say something else, but upon seeing Lu Jingchen’s resolute back as he turned around, the words died on her lips, unable to be voiced.
Song Qiao washed her hands in the bathroom before returning to the bedside. Lu Jingchen was already lying on his side of the bed, with his eyes closed – it was unclear whether he was asleep.
But Song Qiao was certain that he hadn’t fallen asleep yet; perhaps he just did not wish to see her.
This thought surfaced in her mind, suddenly making her feel an aching discomfort in her heart; but she didn’t dwell on it, instead crawling into bed and curling up into a small ball under the covers.
