The Black Necromancer-Chapter 299 A Night Of Tears
"Oh, by the way. Who is this, and why does he look just like you?" Michael suddenly paused and looked to Eugene.
"This is Eugene Cromwell, my 'supposed' father." Leon introduced the man.
"Hello, a pleasure to meet you." Eugene extended a hand for a handshake. But Michael simple narrowed his eyes without taking the hand.
"Not even your son has gotten a handshake from me. I do not see you getting one anytime soon either." Michael snorted.
"Ah... I see?" He was confused and looked to Leon for an explanation, but Leon did not even bother with him. So, he turned to Leon's summons again. This time, Kaladin chose to answer the man.
"Michael is a God." The A rank Obsidian Skeleton Royal Caster answered in a low tone. "He is only here to make sure nothing goes out of hand on our visit here."
"A... God???" Eugene's confusion had never been greater than this before in his life. Perhaps the last time he felt so confused was when he was a baby.
"You will not understand. Your mind is still so small. How can you ever understand the greatness of our master, not to mention that of a God, which he will soon become." Kaladin tutted and shook his head before straightening up and looking ahead.
'What madness is this? Is my mind finally breaking down because of mana? Or maybe some powerful mage has trapped me in an illusion where my son is back with me, but has decided to torture me slowly.' Eugene thought to himself. Indeed, it was just like Kaladin had said, his mind was too small to understand the greater truths of the world.
"I have taken care of all their external relations. Any group big or small has been dealt with. I just saved them for the last." Michael said as he spoke with Leon about the fall of the Black Fangs group.
"So, we can get back to our little vacation?" Leon asked.
"Yes. You should get what you came here for over with. We technically have a week here, but it would be best if we left as soon as possible. Crossing the Void takes time." Michael replied.
"Oh, how long did we spend crossing last time?" Leon asked.
"We spent a little over a week." Michael replied with a neutral expression.
"What?! Then that means the war has been progressing for a long time! Why didn't you tell me about this?!" Leon asked.
"I am your patron, not your personal assistant. You do not know anything. Do you think you could have crossed the Void on your own? Even most Minor Gods find it difficult to navigate the Void. Imagine a mortal like yourself trying to cross the void. You will spend millennia there and lose your mind!" Michael scoffed. "You should be more grateful. I could have just lied and told you that your wish was impossible to fulfil." He crossed his arms.
"Err, I guess you are right. Sorry, then. But I still plan on spending the entire week here. I told you that I wanted to make peace with my past. That is what I will do before we go back." Leon said and crossed his arms as well.
"Very well, then. Do what you want." Michael waved his hand and turned around. "Let us return. Tomorrow, we will return to the diner, and you will tell Megan and James about your true self." Michael turned around. In the blink of an eye, they all appeared in a dark alleyway. It was just beside the hotel that they had spent the night in before.
Michael took the lead and made his way into the hotel. The receptionist from the previous night was on duty this time too, and there was no way she could forget about Michael and Leon, the two flawless men that had come in the previous night.
However, they had company this time. All four men behind Michael and Leon were also stunning and breathtaking!
"Hello." Leon greeted the young lady.
"Oh-hi! Nice to see you again!" The young lady appeared flustered as she responded to Leon.
"You too." Leon smiled sweetly. "I need four rooms for my friends here. We'll pay for six nights."
"Al-alright." The girl went to work quickly. She soon handed over four keycards after payment had been made. "Have a nice night!" She waved at the handsome men before letting out a dreamy sigh and leaning over the counter.
"We can talk tomorrow." Leon nodded at Eugene as they got to their rooms. He knew the man wanted to ask a lot of questions, especially after hearing all the cryptic things that they had spoken about. Most of what they said had flown over the man's head, so he was dying from curiosity.
"Alright..." Eugene nodded and gave Leon a onceover before he stepped into his room. When he closed the door behind him, he sighed and leaned against it, slowly sliding down to the floor. His eyes were sad and he reminisced about the past.
"My boy..." He sighed and leaned back, staring at the dark ceiling of the room. In the darkness, he wept, letting out the sorrows of twenty years that had been held back within his heart for so long. He wept for a long time. It was only when his tears could no longer run that he finally got up from the fetal position he had folded into and climbed into bed to rest his weary mind. f𝓇𝘦𝒆𝘄𝑒𝗯𝑛𝗼ѵ𝙚l.𝒄𝘰𝓶
Morning came soon, and Eugene woke up with the rising sun. He sat on his bed and watched the day brighten outside the window of the hotel. When the day was bright enough, he stood up and went to freshen up. There was a lot of catching up he needed to do with Leon. Plus, he had to find a way to make it up to Leon. Growing up with no one must have been hard.
Eugene had also intentionally cut all ties with Leon so no one could trace them together. Because of that, he knew almost nothing of Leon. He wanted to know his son much more, like the back of his hand. And today, he would start working toward that goal.
