The Black Shadow Soul Hunter-Chapter 76: The Untamed Forest

The vehicle roaring engine stopped with a hard brake. The smell of burning fuel mixed cold air. The big tires of the car made strong bite in the muddy soil as there was no road up ahead to go. It had rained in the forest sometimes ago, which made the air much colder. The cold was piercing through the skin.

There was a problem. They were planning to follow the road up to the hill to enter through the forest. Then getting over it close to the dark forest that they were heading into. However, the road was no more. It was a dead end. At some point during the last week or so a terrible rockfall occurred, obliterating whole segments of the narrow road way and making the other parts non-traversable.

Lee packed his with a gun, a small knife, ropes, some water and took a big stainless sword in hand. He wore the auto0bot device with his wrist. This will keep the signal.

Cynthia connect the auto-bot device with her laptop.

The night sky has already turned to black, as they approached into the Forest Up ahead.

"I think we have to walk from here. Do, you still have the signal."

Ruan wanted to hear some good news from Cynthia.

Cynthia –"I will stay here at the vehicle along with Mr. Bruno, while you can follow the signal that I will connect to the auto-bot. So, you can proceed."

"Ok, Cynthia we will try our best to bring her back safely, you guys also stay safe and be careful."

Mr. Bruno also added, "Yes, me and Cynthia will wait here, both Ruan Thiuan and Theon Lee must go inside the trail. And we will keep contact from here."

"Yes, I also think it will be better. We have to follow the signal carefully."- Lee added with smirk as he wanted to make other's not to make much fuzz.

"And we must keep things quiet, this does not look good to me. I will take a dagger and knife. I will also take pistol with silencer for back up."- Ruan told Lee as there was tension in the air.

Mr. Bruno turned his head and said, "We will hide in the woods and switch off all the lights, so that we will not attract any unwanted attention."

Cynthia looked at Ruan Thiaun, her eyes lights of hope.

"Ruan, come back safely with Dr. Lily. All the best to both of you."

The forest was rain-soaked filled with mist and cold fog. The surrounding place of muted colors and amplified sounds, where the air hangs heavy with the scent of damp earth and the rhythmic drumming of rain creates a somber, yet strangely calming atmosphere.

Lee looked at the shadow. He had a smell of something unknown that triggered his nostrils. Lee could sense something was waiting in the dark. Big trees and bushes covered the forest like big giants. Tall pine trees and oaks silhouetted against the glow of the moonlight that was piercing to their skin with soft glow.

Moonlight shined the ray between the dark woods. The havoc was mesmerizing.

There was a chill in the spine of Ruan as she steeped forward with Lee.

He tightened his grip with the sword that was in his hand. He was chiseled, his features was astonishing. He carved towards the darker side while Ruan Thiaun was behind her with a knife and a gun with a silence.

Ruan hold the dagger in her hands and the gun was loaded in the satchel. Her steps were sheath and deliberate. On the other hand Lee took the sword in his strong hand moving ahead with a sense triggering for any thing strange. His eyes were sharp and wide. Quick to pick up any motions.

Leaves of the trees in the woods were wet and the insects were making noise. There were some mosquitoes and flies nearby, so Ruan had wore some kind of cream on her skin and passed it to Lee.

"These will protect you from the mosquitos, it will help."

"But Ruan, the smell will make other cautions. And we don't want that. I got a better idea."

Lee took some herbs like mint and grass from the weeds and covered their body. This will add the smell of the forest and also safe us from the mosquitoes perhaps."

Branches creaking in the wind, owls and other strange birds were making noises from nearby. The woods felt like alive with so much life!

All beneath the natural noise there was something else, something creepy to make chill in the bones.

The night was settling the forest in to a transformation of shadow and mystery. While the darkness hides secretes beneath a canopy of massive sky filled with many starts.

Lee followed the direction of signal indicating by his auto bot.

"Auto bot tell me about the signal."

Ruan Thiaun was following Lee as his eyes was glowing like a cat. It seemed bit different in the moon light or this could be her mind playing tricks with the condition.

Her sharp eyes were scanning the place, picking up any movement or any sound that could be unwelcoming.

The scent of wet soil filled with rain pinched her nose. She saw the dead skin of a big snake near to the pile of rocks. Her mind was filled with unknowing danger and secrets yet to come.
