The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 371: The Kiss
"If I can accept our fate then why you two are trying so hard to fight it? If I can accept the three of us mutually in this relationship then why you two still can’t?"
Despite the fact that she was still in the living room while the two men were in the balcony at the other end of the apartment, Emily was still able to hear them loud and clear. As her ears registered Kaiden’s question, she realized just how selfish she had been acting all this time.
She kept telling herself that she never crossed the line with Shadow because she didn’t want to hurt Kaiden. However, the truth was - Kaiden was never against her love for Shadow. It was her insecurities and fears that made her act like everything was going fine when their bonds were clearly suffering.
A deep sigh left her lips and she buried her face in her palms, still listening yo the conversation between her two mates.
-
The silence lasted for a few moments before Shadow finally spoke, "I’m sorry, Kaiden. No matter how hard I keep trying, I always end up failing. I’m just unable to fix this mess that I have created and because of this... all three of us are suffering."
Kaiden took hold of Shadow’s shoulders and turned the man to face him and spoke, "Then stop."
His words left Shadow confused and he just stared at the werewolf in question, waiting for the latter to clarify what he was trying to say.
"I’m telling you to stop trying then. You already know that you can’t completely end your bond with Emily. It means that no matter how hard you try, you will never be able to stay away from us. And even if by some stupid miracle you succeeded in ending your bond with the two of us, do you think that will be enough to erase the feelings as well? You better not be foolish enough to believe that these feelings are here because of the bonds."
Kaiden stopped for a second to let his words sink before continuing, "Since you can’t change the fate of our bonds, stop trying. All you need to do is to accept it. Accept that you and Angel are in love. Accept that I don’t have any issue with this at all. Accept that I have already accepted you in our lives, relationship, and bond. Accept it, Shadow."
His voice was firm as he spoke those words to Shadow but at the very same time, they were also for his mate who had been listening to their conversation since the beginning.
He took in a deep breath before confessing - "I might not love you like I love Angel... but I need you here with us just as much as her. I don’t need you physically in our relationship but mentally, I need you just as much as her, Shadow. Can’t you stop fighting already?"
Shadow started shaking his head with a pained expression on his face. He looked straight into Kaiden’s eyes before whispering - "You don’t understand."
"Understand what?" Kaiden wasn’t about to give up. "Tell me what it is that I don’t understand, Shadow. Loud and clear!" His voice was demanding and he did receive a response.
"You don’t understand that it’s not that easy. Sometimes it’s hard for me to hold back myself." Shadow was clearly struggling to make Kaiden understand the real problem.
"Hold back from what, Shadow?" Kaiden pressed, wanting the man to speak out the words loud.
"From crossing the damn line!" Shadow shouted in frustration. "From behaving like she’s mine..." His voice turned soft after the initial outburst as he continued, "... sometimes, it becomes impossible to hold back my desire for her... and Kaiden, neither of us wants to take advantage of the trust you have shown in us."
The two men became silent after that confession but not for long as Kaiden suddenly grabbed one of Shadow’s hands and dragged him back to the living room where Emily was waiting for them.
Once the two of them were standing right next to her, Kaiden let go off Shadow’s hand and turned his attention toward his mate. "Angel, will you do something for me?"
"Anything." Emily didn’t even need to think before she answered in a firm and determined voice.
Kaiden took hold of her hand and spoke, "Kiss him, Angel."
His words were followed by silence as both Emily and Shadow stared at him in pure shock. But Emily didn’t hesitate for too long when she felt Kaiden’s wolf urging her to accept the task.
Kaiden’s words did surprise Shadow but what shook him even more was when Emily turned to face him and walked closer. He wanted to step away, to get as far from her as possible, but his body was frozen in place.
Emily stopped right in front of the vampire lord and gazed into his eyes. Rising on the tips of her toes, she removed the space between their faces and placed her lips against his.
The moment their lips came in contact, both of them felt their sleeping bond flourishing to life in joy. It was like a desert had finally seen rain after ages. Everything felt perfect, and what made it even better was when Kaiden allowed them to sense his feelings.
Just like he had been saying, he indeed accepted the two of them together, even if meant physically. Both he and his wolf were at peace seeing his mate kissing another man and it was only because he accepted Shadow equally in their relationship and bond.
The kiss lasted for a few seconds before Emily pulled away. Even though the kiss was only reserved to the softest touch possible between their lips, it was still enough to ignite the desire between them that had been staying dormant since her birthday.
A smile bloomed on Kaiden’s lips as he whispered to Shadow, "I will give this Sunday to you. Make sure to make most out of it."
