The Broken Halo-Chapter 207: Very Good
The mountain Instructor Emith told him to run around was approximately thirty kilometers wide at its base.
It was extremely absurd for the instructor to tell him to run thirty times around the mountain in under thirty minutes.
Simon was just a Minor Fiend, and by all means, he should not be capable of doing this, but Simon knew how instructors like Emith taught.
The harder one is pushed, and the more limits one breaks, the stronger the person becomes.
As long as the person doesn’t die immediately, then he or she would get stronger.
’She’s just like that bastard. What do I do? I don’t think I can ever recover from what that bastard did to me on Earth. I woke up from the slightest noise, slept while being half awake, and had nightmares of the bastard’s training when I truly slept.’
’I cannot and will not go through such a thing again. Even after you died and after I died, why must I encounter somebody like you in my second life, you damned bastard.’
Although Simon was inwardly cursing Instructor Emith and his late friend, he was mainly calculating how he would be able to run thirty laps around the mountain in thirty minutes without Instructor Emith finding out that he had the physical capabilities of a Supreme Archfiend.
’I can’t run at full speed, and I also cannot be too slow. But I cannot be average too. What to do. What to do.’
Simon narrowed his eyes as he jogged for the first three minutes at an average speed.
On the fourth minute, he was done with his calculations.
’The answer is simple. I’ll increase my speed, but not to a ridiculous degree. And to explain why I’m able to exhibit and maintain such level of speed, I’ll use the high level of control I have over my demonic energy as the reason why I’m able to increase and maintain my speed despite my current heart rank.’
After coming to this decision, Simon’s legs and feet glowed with dark emerald-orange glow, and in the next moment.
Bang!
The ground shattered beneath his feet and Simon’s shot forward like a bullet.
Instructor Emith glanced at him with surprise evident in her gaze.
’To actually accomplish the task the instructor, I’ll need to have the speed of an average Minor or a Prime Archfiend. However, a Prime Archfiend might not even be able to run thirty laps around the mountain in less than thirty minutes.’
’If I’m right, then running around the mountain is not actually part of the physical training exercise. It’s probably because I entered her class late and tried several excuses to escape from her class.’
’So, now... What I need to is to be as fast as a Minor Archfiend.’
Simon ran at a speed that caught the attention of his classmates and Instructor Emith alike.
"How is he so fast?"
"Isn’t he a Lesser Demon?"
"It looks like he’s burning through his demonic energy reserves."
"Yeah. He’ll soon be dead tired. What a fool."
Many of Simon’s classmates snickered when they realized that Simon was using his demonic energy to increase his physical capabilities so as to finish the task their physical training instructor gave him.
All who believed that Simon was still a Lesser Demon and that Simon would soon run out of demonic energy had no idea that Simon was now a Fiend because they had not bothered to use their specific methods to figure out what Simon’s heart rank was and many were not perceptive enough to sense the changes in Simon’s demonic energy because of his extremely high control over it.
But for some like Sunless who was observing Simon with a gaze that held a thousand meanings, they could sense that Simon was now a Fiend, and they were baffled and shocked.
Meanwhile, Instructor Emith’s eyes flickered with a strange light as she observed Simon. Some moments later, she nodded her head, almost like she had come to a decision.
As for Simon, he continued while making sure to maintain the same pace.
At some point in time, he began to run while his mind was somewhere else, completely distracted.
Twenty six minutes later, Simon finally completed his thirtieth lap, then he stopped while panting heavily with his hands on his knees.
Sweat fell from his face to his mask, and some of that sweat dripped down his mask and fell out from beneath it.
He was not faking his exhaustion.
He could have used his demonic energy to strengthen his entire external and internal body as he ran, thereby preventing this exhaustion, but he knew that if he ran so much without showing any signs of exhaustion, Instructor Emith would be suspicious of him.
Step
Step
Step
The sound of footsteps drifted into Simon’s ears, and he looked up.
Bang!
A vest landed in front of him, and Simon’s left eye twitched when he saw the vest.
He knew what was coming, and just as he feared, Instructor Emith’s proved that he was right.
"Wear that and do a thousand push ups. You’re behind the class, so be quick. We have more training to do before we call it a day."
Simon looked at Instructor Emith, then he looked at the vest which caused tiny cracks to appear on the ground after she threw it.
Without saying anything, he nodded and put on the vest.
At this point, he just had to live with the consequences of him entering the class.
He knew that if he said anything, complained that she was not allowing him to rest, or did any other thing aside from what she told him to do, he would be given more work to do.
So, without hesitation, he wore the vest which weighed about five thousand kilogram and he began his push up.
"Oh. And usage of demonic energy is banned. I’m here to train your physical body, not your demonic energy. The reason why I didn’t talk when you were running is because I didn’t tell you, but from now on, you shall not use demonic energy in my class."
Simon’s lips twitched, and he merely nodded to show that he understood.
He began his thousand push ups while carrying the weight of an elephant on his back.
Instructor Emith observed him for a moment, wanting to ensure that his form and posture was right, and that the weight was not too much for him. After seeing that everything was good with Simon, she nodded and turned to his classmates who were still struggling with their training.
She spotted a girl in their class trembling under the weight while saying that she could do no more.
"Hey! Alena! What do you think you’re doing?! CONTINUE!"
The girl was frightened, and she quickly went back to doing her exercise. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Instructor Emith’s cold eyes swept across the remainder of the class.
"Let me tell you something. You will feel like you want to die, but you will not die! So, do as I tell you!"
"DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!"
"YES MA!"
The entire class answered loudly in unison, and Instructor Emith nodded with a pleased expression.
"Very good."
