Chapter 372: Qixi Festival (8)
Why Chef Long didn’t question its sources and how she made them?
But Chef Long remained unperturbed throughout and only listened quietly.
The only time Haoran showed reaction was when she mentioned the presence of demonic beasts. "Your original world is not peaceful?" His hand grasping hers suddenly tightened.
Chunhua nodded and explained, "Just like the Main Game World, there are monsters in our place but the only difference is that they don’t drop loots."
If they dropped loots like food, she would have relentlessly chased them. Unfortunately, the risk is not equivalent to rewards.
Their meats are also tough as leather and rock. The only ones valuable form them is their core that can used to increased cultivation, other body parts such as fangs, bones, tail, and skin which can be cleanse and used to make dharma artifacts.
To live in that world, Xiao Hua must have a rough time. Haoran couldn’t imagine what sort of life she must have and even more as an orphan.
"Don’t worry, I’ll protect you." Haoran promised and locked his hands with hers.
"Chef Long, I’ll protect you too." Chunhua smiled making the man curled his lips.
Chunhua saw Haoran lifted their locked hands. Afterwards, she felt something soft, warm and moist touched the back of her hand, causing a shudder to travel to her spine. Eh, what was that?
"I’ll take that as a promise." Haoran said, taking back her attention. His eyes shone with indescribable light as his gaze firmly stayed on her face.
Chunhua somewhat felt a rare peace. For a moment there, her food-filtered lenses failed to operate.
She didn’t realize until now that Chef Long was actually handsome!

"Grandma Mei gave it." Haoran handed the pink paper bag full of this pastries that were still warm.
Chunhua opened the paper bag.
She could smell the nice fresh scent of the newly fried and baked goods.
Seeing the beautiful lock charms pastries inside, she sniffed and said, "It smells so good." Chunhua picked one and brought it closer to the Haoran’s mouth. "You must have been exhausted and hungry from searching for me, Chef Long. Take a bite."
Haoran looked at the pastry, at the fingers holding it, and at the girl’s eager face and bit off a huge chunk. ƒreewebɳovel.com
The chocolate is not too sweet and had just the right amount of sweetness. The creamy and silky texture of the chocolate is well suited with the crispy skin of the pastry.
Grandma Mei had some skills!
"It’s delicious."
Haoran’s eyes deepened when he saw Chunhua finished off the same pastry he bad bitten.
"Chef Long is there something on my face?" Chunhua touched her face and asked.
Noticing something, the man’s eyes became murky.
Haoran gently pressed his thumb on the corners of her mouth to wipe the chocolate stain. His eyes were darker than bottom of the depths of the ocean as if wanting to swallow her whole.
"Nothing, I’m just thirsty." Readjusting his expression, Haoran replied and swallowed the lump on his throat while suppressing some impulsive thoughts.
Chunhua stood up and grabbed the youth’s hand, "Chef Long, let’s go buy some drinks."
Haoran allowed himself to be led into a stall selling fruits smoothies.
"Which one do you like?" Chunhua asked.
He really wanted to say that he was not thirsty for the drink but in the end, he parted his lips, "I want milk."
"One Milk flavor please." Chunhua said to the shopkeeper.
"That will be 10 yuan." The male shopkeeper replied.
"Make it two." Haoran set the bags down, opened his wallet and paid 20 yuan.
"Chef Long...you don’t need to..." Chunhua said but her eyes excitedly looked at the two cups being filled with smoothie.
Haoran only chuckled before asking, "You’ve been calling me Chef Long. Can you call me a different name?" It’s not that he hates the way she was addressing him but it is sound rather distant. It was embarrassed to admit that he was a bit jealous with how those couples called their partner.
Chunhua handed one of the smoothies to him before asking, "Well, what do you want me to call you?"
There were a lot of thoughts going on his head, but Haoran only said, "How about A’Ran?"
Haoran was striving for something more intimate but for now it was enough. Let’s take it slowly. He mentally said, though the train of thoughts running in his head was different.
"No problem Chef Long...I mean A’Ran!" Chunhua called.
Who am I kidding? Haoran took a big sip of the smoothie as if to quench something.
"Chef Long, I’ve been thinking..." Chunhua kicked the pebble on the ground before saying, "How about we rob a bank?"
Haoran paused before saying without an ounce of jesting, "Which bank and how much?"
Chunhua was stunned at how readily the man agreed. "Chef Long, are you serious?"
"In regards to you, I’m always serious." Haoran stared at the girl causing a certain someone to stare back.
Chunhua regained her moral sense and shake her head, "Never mind, I was just joking." Despite suggesting that, the thought really crossed her head.
Since this isn’t really a real world, she shouldn’t have mental burden but Chunhua couldn’t forget the 90, 000 yuan.
Haoran saw her expression and asked, "Is it for that kid?"
Chunhua nodded.
"How much?"
"90, 000 yuan." Chunhua answered.
A gleam appeared in the man’s eyes as Haoran opened the paper bag and inhaled the scent with the hint of smoke, wood, and vanilla. Not bad.
He cracked the shells and removed the skin, leaving only the edible nuts which she gave to the girl. His movements were smooth and elegant turning the simple snack peeling session into a beautiful sight, "Doors will always be open. How about wishing for it?"
Chunhua was doubtful. "Chef Long, the world doesn’t go that way." Because if that’s the case, the main game world should have no monsters and it’s full of restaurants, cafeterias, vending machines, and 7/11 shops instead.
