Chapter 422: Free Talisman

I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m really dead.

That Old Witch will beat me up if she found out I didn’t look after children well. Not to mention Master that seems to favor that Old Witch. He would also smack her with his pan for angering the Old Witch.

Streams of invisible tears flowed from Elga’s eyes.

"It’s your fault Cui! You should call for me later!" Elga pulled her hair and glared at the pumpkin-haired guy, while imagining grotesque images in her head.

Receiving a deathly glare, Cui stiffened, "Instructor, why are you suddenly angry? What’s the matter?"

"It’s the Landowners’ children. I can’t find them inside the territory."

Every old residents had long categorized those little creatures that the always follow the Landowner as her children and the Landowner doesn’t seem to refute the rumor.

"If it’s them, I think I saw them climb down the newly built mountain road." Cui said.

Cui wanted to say something but the pixie stormed off and climbed the walls to talk to Fern and his beast men group.

Then, he saw the pixie jumped off the wall.

"She must really be in a bind." Cui was suddenly guilty.

Cui felt a tap on his shoulder.

He turned around and found out it was Jun. "Hey Cui, I heard from someone that a resident discovered a dungeon. The Territory Manager called for us."

"A dungeon?" Cui had never foot in a dungeon before and he doesn’t what it looks like.

Jun brought Cui to the Town’s Hall. De and Meng Chu was already there. The Territory Manager was talking with the two.

And beside the Territory Manager was another group, the leading man was engaging in a conversation with Remi.

Remi deposited 250 points in the wooden plate of each of Nian Zhen’s 15 team members for the dungeon.

Nian Zhen was satisfied with the points and also exchanged the supplies they have accumulated.

[30 units of Fearcrow Feather]

[30 units of Wild Berries]

[120 units of wood]

[63 units of stones]

[27 units of...]

The balance of their team went up to 315 points. Nian Zhen was in good mood.

"Mister, about the dungeon, we will have to ask to lead the investigation team there." Remi pointed towards Cui’s group.

Nian Zhen complied.

"You just need to guard the dungeon until Master comes back." Siri said. He could also send them in but what if it’s a one-time dungeon?

General Kang’s Territory was surrounded by three outer walls, one made one stones guarding the facilities and the other two were wooden bastions, built ten meters apart.

On the outermost bastion, a moat was dug two meters deep and two meters wide, it was filled the spikes. To cross it, one must use a drawbridge, the only entry and exit.

The heavily guarded territory was divided into four areas which were separated by tall wooden walls- (1) General Private Residence build next to the warehouse, (2) the Military Compound that includes the training areas and Residences of General Kang’s subordinates, (3) Commercial Area consisting of Farm, Quarry and Blacksmith Workshop and (4) the prison or where the slaves were being kept.

The so called Prison was smaller than a basic resident cottage with poorly insulated wall and leaking palm roof that would tremble when a gust of wind blew by.

There was no bed and the caught players whose feet were bound by ropes had to sleep on the cold hard ground inadvertently leading some to catch cold.

It almost a carbon copy of the dilapidated cottage Chunhua started with.

There were another two of similar cottage situated adjacent.

The door of the prison was kicked open. A man carrying a small pot full of water stomped in. Following him was another man carrying sliced moldy breads.

Their eyes were filled with undisguised disdain and disgust from the musty smell of the workers.

The man beat the pot with a stick waking up the tired workers before yelling, "Wake up. It’s Lunch time!"

The two dropped the pots on the ground in disdain, spilling more than half of the water and bread before leaving the premises, never wanting to stay for another second.

Once the guards left, curses escaped the captives’ mouth and their eyes blazed with anger glaring at the ’lunch’ on the ground.

"If I escape this place, I’ll kill every each one of them especially that woman who deceived me!"

"I’ll slice them up and peel their skin and let their corpse dried in the sun."

"..."

After venting their anger and discontent, the captives panted. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

They have just returned from logging and mining stones in the quarry and that rambling cost them their last bit of stamina.

One of the captives who was wearing a monks’ tunic and Buddhist beads didn’t bother wasting his breath and went to pick up the food, wiped the dirt off before fetching his share and for the one sitting beside him.

"Thank you Abbot." Jun Chang smiled weakly before taking the piece of bread. His face was flushed from fever that had yet to subside.

The sound of heavy coughs reverberated in the room and everyone except for the monk distanced themselves from Jun Chang.

"Cover your mouth when you cough! What if we get infected?!"

"So unlucky. I wished I was in the other cell."

"Where are the guards? Shouldn’t they isolate those who are sick?"

"Why don’t you just die already! Don’t drag us with you!"

Jun Chang saw the monk clenching his fists. "Don’t bother. It doesn’t matter." But his words didn’t reach the monk’s ears.

The monk listening to their cruel words threw the moldy bread onto the last speaker’s face. It hit him in the nose.

"Kid! I can read the lines on your face. You’ll face a bloody disaster today!" The monk stood up and smacked the speaker’s face thrice, leaving red palm print on his cheeks.

The man’s side kick wanted to help and he also received a free talisman. "You too, Kid."
