The Cat-Like Miss Preston: Mr. CEO begs for Reconciliation!-Chapter 113: Our Chloe Is a Crybaby
Donovan Xavier raised a hand, his long, elegant fingers gently caressing her. He pressed his thin lips close to her ear and chuckled hoarsely, "Doesn’t my Chloe like this?"
Chloe Preston’s face flushed. She leaned back slightly, pressing down on his misbehaving hand. "Behave yourself."
"You used to be so proper. Not much time has passed, and you’re already showing your true colors again."
Donovan Xavier smiled. Mindful that she was pregnant, he ultimately refrained from going too far and released her.
He got into bed and carefully cradled her in his arms. He reached out to gently poke her belly and sighed. "When is this little one coming out? Being celibate is really hard on me."
Chloe Preston’s eyes were as clear as water. She wrapped her arms around his neck and asked, "When will you get your memory back?"
Donovan Xavier frowned. "That’s not something I can decide. Am I not good enough for you now?"
Chloe Preston lowered her gaze, fiddling idly with his long fingers. "You are. But I can’t help but worry that when you regain your memory, you won’t treat me as well as you do now."
Donovan Xavier leaned closer, kissing her cheek and murmuring tenderly, "Of course not. I’ll only treat you better."
Chloe Preston asked, "How do you know?"
Donovan Xavier moved to her ear, his breath hot as he nibbled her earlobe. "Because I already like you so much right now."
Chloe Preston’s thick lashes trembled slightly.
"Chloe, even if I never regain my memories, don’t be afraid. I’ll cherish you, from this moment forward. And if I do remember, it will be even better. I’ll love you even more."
His words were earnest, full of affection and tenderness.
Chloe Preston’s eyes gradually welled up, glistening with tears.
Donovan Xavier raised an eyebrow and pinched her cheek. "My Chloe is such a crybaby. A few words and you’re ready to cry. It’s so adorable."
Chloe Preston wiped a tear away, saying stubbornly, "I am not a crybaby."
Laughter danced in Donovan Xavier’s eyes. He took her pale, slender hand, rubbing it gently as he spoke, "Chloe Preston."
"Hmm?"
"Where’s my ring? It’s been a while. You haven’t prepared it yet?"
Chloe Preston looked up at him. "Why are you in such a hurry? I’m working on it. I designed it myself."
Donovan Xavier bit her ear, his breath warm against her skin. "Hurry up. I’m not very patient. Once you give me the ring, we’ll get married."
Chloe Preston pursed her lips. "What about the Xavier Family?"
"They definitely won’t agree. And if your grandfather finds out, he’ll probably want to hang himself in front of you."
Donovan’s large hand covered her belly as he said in a deep voice, "As for that, I have a plan."
"On another day, once we pick an auspicious date, I’ll take you to Ryston."
Chloe Preston was puzzled. "What for?"
Donovan Xavier replied, "To meet someone. If she likes you, you’ll definitely be able to enter the Xavier Family."
"Who?"
"You’ll find out when we get there."
Chloe Preston nodded, then asked again, "What if she doesn’t like me?"
Donovan Xavier stated, "Impossible. She’s bound to like the woman I love."
"Besides, you’re carrying our little one. She’s very fond of children, so she’ll accept you."
The night grew deeper.
Donovan Xavier held her tightly in his arms, inhaling her pleasant, faint fragrance, and embraced her for a long, long time.
Then, he carefully pulled the covers over her and kissed her forehead. "Sleep now."
Chloe Preston mumbled, "Hmm."
Seeing her close her eyes, Donovan Xavier rose and quietly slipped out of bed.
"Where are you going?" Chloe Preston’s eyes snapped open, and she sat up to look at him.
Donovan Xavier froze, then lifted his eyes and glanced toward the bathroom.
It took Chloe Preston a few seconds to understand. "You’re going to take another cold shower?"
Donovan Xavier didn’t answer.
Chloe Preston leaned against the headboard, thought for a moment, and said, "Come here."
Donovan Xavier walked back and sat on the edge of the bed, leaning toward her. "What’s wrong?"
CLICK. The lamp went out. The curtains hadn’t been drawn, allowing moonlight to spill into the room.
"Chloe," he called out to her.
Suddenly, his robe was yanked down, and cool fingertips traced a path along his abs, heading lower.
Donovan Xavier grabbed her hand, his Adam’s apple bobbing as his breathing grew ragged. "Chloe Preston, what are you doing?"
"Relax. I promised I wouldn’t touch you, and I meant it. I can control myself. Now be good and go to sleep."
Chloe Preston didn’t let go. She moved closer and closer, until she could whisper in his ear, "But I don’t want you to suffer."
"Honey... tonight, you don’t have to take a cold shower, okay?"
Donovan Xavier clenched his fists and sucked in a breath, his mind a chaotic mess.
Later that night, a torrential downpour began to fall outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. The rain battered the banana plants, and the wind sent the sycamore leaves rustling. Raindrops pelted the glass, masking the warmth and passion within the room.
A long time passed. Donovan Xavier lay on the bed, his eyes closed, his breathing slowly steadying. After a moment, he turned his head, the faint moonlight allowing him to see her clearly.
She was exhausted and fast asleep.
A contented smile played on Donovan Xavier’s lips as he savored the memory of their recent bliss. He leaned over and gently kissed the tip of her nose.
He had amnesia, so for him, tonight felt like the very first time—an experience that had driven him wild and made him lose all control.
He had still been somewhat restrained; after all, she was pregnant.
Outside, the downpour had just eased, and the wind had quieted. In the stillness of the night, he heard himself whisper—
"Chloe Preston, I’m so happy with you."
"Stay by my side forever, okay?"
Chloe Preston stirred in her sleep, her lips moving as if she were murmuring something.
Donovan Xavier couldn’t quite hear. He leaned closer, his voice incredibly tender, "What is it, darling? Do you need some water?"
The next second, Chloe’s lips parted, and a single name escaped them, "Miles."
"What?" Donovan’s smile vanished, his brow instantly furrowing.
Who did she just call? Miles? What the hell is that? Is it another one of her friends? Damn it, this amnesia means I can’t remember a thing!
CLICK. He flicked on the light, flooding the room in brightness.
He had to get to the bottom of this.
Donovan Xavier reached out and poked her cheek, demanding unhappily, "Chloe Preston, wake up. Who did you just call?"
"Explain yourself clearly, or I’m not sleeping tonight!"
"Get up, Chloe Preston! Tell me exactly who the hell that is!"
Chloe Preston was in a deep slumber, lost in her dreams and impossible to wake.
A few seconds later, her lips parted slightly again, and she murmured softly in her sleep, "Donovan Xavier, I love you so much... Don’t leave me..."
