The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 122: Young Master, Do You Like Sneaking Around?
Jasper Yale remained unruffled, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.
In other words, Yelena Hughes had no evidence.
Just relying on a few words, she wanted to involve Nancy Alden in this matter.
"I’ll have Hailey Jenkins look into it thoroughly."
Yelena Hughes grasped Jasper Yale’s wrist, as if her life depended on it. She entrusted it to him, hoping for a satisfactory answer.
"You can’t make a big fuss. The other side has a video, and I’m afraid they’ll go all out. Also... don’t let Nancy know just yet."
Yelena Hughes wanted to say more, but Jasper Yale was more adept than her. Investigating such matters was effortless for him, without needing her to interfere.
"Master Yale, if it turns out Nancy was really behind it, what will you do?"
"What do you want me to do?"
Yelena Hughes knew in her heart that Jasper Yale would surely not agree.
She only slightly moved her lips, "I don’t want a flimsy apology."
"Once the truth is clear, if she’s truly involved, I’ll give you an explanation."
Yelena Hughes’ expression showed a hint of relief, "Thank you."
Jasper Yale tossed the materials onto the table, "Didn’t sleep all night because of this?"
Yelena Hughes was barely holding on; when she came in earlier, she seemed to walk on air, feeling dizzy.
Neither of them noticed a piece of paper lightly drifted under the coffee table.
Jasper Yale pulled her down onto the sofa, but Yelena Hughes hadn’t even sat down before she wanted to get up, "I have to go to work."
"You still have more than two hours until your work starts, you can rest for a while."
How could she sleep? Her mind was weighed down with so much.
Yelena Hughes glanced through the glass window towards a nearby mansion, "I don’t want Miss Alden to see me here."
"She likes to sleep in; she’s not up yet."
But this wasn’t her place, Yelena Hughes didn’t want to intrude.
After sitting, Jasper Yale pulled her close to him; the fire in the fireplace burned more intensely, making her feel overheated with the layer of clothing she wore.
"Master Yale, do you enjoy this?"
"Enjoy what?"
Yelena Hughes always had this feeling, but kept it to herself, unspoken.
"Being close to me under Miss Alden’s nose, yet out of her sight."
What did he take her for?
Flames could devour all the cold, like the usual indifference in Jasper Yale’s eyes, which now seemed absent.
His expression, halfway between a smile and a frown, hinted at malice.
"You don’t like it?"
"Of course, I don’t."
Jasper Yale’s lips curled upwards, "Getting close to you, that’s too abstract, I don’t understand. You might as well say, sleep with you."
Yelena Hughes tried to get up, but Jasper Yale pinned her leg down, "You certainly didn’t look in the mirror before you stepped out. Today, I’m not interested."
With that pale face, trying anything might render her unconscious before anything even started.
"I know you’re not in the mood right now."
Jasper Yale grabbed Yelena Hughes’ shoulders, pushing her down onto the sofa. He picked up a blanket nearby, intending to cover her.
"I don’t want it!"
Jasper Yale tossed the blanket aside, removing his coat.
Yelena Hughes felt somewhat bewildered by this man, perhaps because of his natural coldness, any small show of warmth was irresistible to her.
The only lifeline she could cling to now was Jasper Yale.
The warmth all around was something her body couldn’t resist, and she truly dozed off.
When she awoke, uncertain how much time passed, the first thing she did was check her watch.
Fortunately, she only napped for twenty minutes.
She sat up from the sofa and neatly folded Jasper Yale’s coat beside her.
Eager to leave, Yelena Hughes didn’t want to run into Nancy later here.
Following the path she came, she walked outside, just as she heard a low growl.
Yelena Hughes instinctively halted her steps; rustling sounds slowly emerged from behind the shrubs, and as she looked towards the source, her face turned horror-stricken.
It was those two Tibetan Mastiffs that should’ve been tied at the gate.
They had no leashes, their eyes filled with hostility like cold knives, fixated on Yelena Hughes, waiting to strike.
Yelena Hughes had no doubt if they lunged at her now, they could snap her neck.
She absolutely couldn’t run.
Sweat filled Yelena Hughes’ palms with tension, one of the Mastiffs barked and charged towards her.
Just as the Mastiff was about to leap, a stone struck its body, sending it tumbling back to the ground, howling.
Jasper Yale had merely gone inside to change his clothes, yet nearly encountered trouble.
His footsteps approached; the Mastiffs, seeming to understand it was him, also seemed to know they’d crossed the line.
They lay there, wishing they could bury their heads in the dirt, unmoving.
Yelena Hughes’ face was as pale as paper, and another set of footsteps approached.
"Oh my, Master Yale, it’s all my fault." Josephine looked at the two Mastiffs, filled with anxiety, "I just let them out of the cage, and they took off, I couldn’t stop them."
Jasper Yale said nothing, moving beside the Mastiffs.
He lifted a foot and kicked hard, the sound loud enough to be heard.
"Damn dogs!"
Though no anger showed on Jasper Yale’s face, his expression was somehow terrifying.
Josephine’s expression changed.
These two Mastiffs were like treasures to Jasper Yale, yet here he lifted a foot and stepped on one’s head.
"Kept you well-fed, have you forgotten you’re just dogs?"
Clearly, the dogs didn’t understand.
But Josephine did.
Jasper Yale instructed Yelena Hughes to leave first, "Wait for me outside."
Without a word, she hurried out.
Jasper Yale withdrew his leg, telling Josephine, "Lock them up, and starve them for a couple of days."
"Understood."
"Josephine, Nancy isn’t feeling well; don’t mention anything to her. Her priority now should be to cooperate with the doctors for her treatment."
Josephine nodded repeatedly, "I understand, Master Yale."
She watched the man walk out, her face still tense, glancing at the two ’dogs’ at her feet.
Yelena Hughes walked away alone, soon hearing the sound of a car horn.
The vehicle stopped beside her, and Jasper Yale tapped on the car window.
She opened the door and got in, "You can drop me off anywhere."
"Let’s have breakfast together."
"No need, I’m not hungry."
"Yelena Hughes, I taught you, don’t say no after asking someone for a favor. Even if you’re hesitant, at least don’t refuse a simple matter like accompanying me for breakfast."
No matter her temperament, he still liked her to be obedient.
Yelena Hughes nodded firmly, "Alright, whatever Master Yale says."
