The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 104: The Tutor’s Condition
Before Eternity could even register the passage of time, so many days had already passed. In a blink of an eye, it was already Friday.
’Friday,’ Eternity thought to herself as she stretched her arms forward, allowing herself to break the tautness on her back muscles. ’My favorite day of the week.’
She was in the living room, sitting on the carpeted floor, in front of the sofa, and behind the coffee table. She had just finished rereading her notes, which now littered the floor of the living room, for her next class today, which was literature.
Olivia, her literature tutor, gave her the assignment to read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." She could honestly say that this was probably one of the greatest coming-of-age books she had ever read. Needless to say, she enjoyed this assignment more than ever.
"But still..." Eternity muttered, releasing a deep exhale. "I can’t help but feel tired."
She felt exhausted from all the week’s worth of tutoring sessions, which both she and Evan didn’t think was possible for an artificial human like her.
But still, she still had some remaining energy left in her body to enjoy her afternoon classes, which were, aside from literature, her one-and-a-half hour excursion trip to the outside world.
In the midst of the total silence of the apartment, the doorbell began ringing.
"It must be Olivia," she said under her breath as she glanced at the clock embedded in the wall. "Hmm, she’s 20 minutes too early today."
Eternity shook her head to stop herself from contemplation, and she hurriedly walked toward the door.
"Coming!" She said loudly, hoping for her tutor to hear her behind the closed door.
As soon as she opened the door, Olivia was there, looking as cute and charming as ever. However, for some reason, she seemed rather glum.
"Good afternoon!" Still, Eternity greeted her cheerfully, as she always did.
Olivia usually mirrored her energy whenever they were together, which was a great indication that the teenage tutor was quite comfortable and ’vibing’ (a term she learned on the internet, which meant they were getting along well) with Eternity.
Yet today, she didn’t seem like her usual self.
She was avoiding eye contact, staring at the floor as if there was some invisible thing catching her attention or she was searching for an escape route. Her pink lips, which were often coated with colored lip balm, seemed dry, and she was incessantly biting off the dead skin with her upper teeth.
Overall, Olivia’s demeanor today seemed jittery.
"Is everything alright?" Eternity asked slowly and unsurely, frowning.
Upon hearing her question, Olivia tensed up and looked at her as if she were a deer caught in the headlights.
"W-w-what do you mean?" she stammered, laughing too forcefully and tensely. "T-t-there’s nothing wrong, Eternity! Nothing at all."
Eternity’s frown grew deeper, and she looked at Olivia with a mixture of confusion and concern, trying to make sense of Olivia’s evasive response. Yet she kept mum and, instead, she gestured for Olivia to come inside the apartment, to which Olivia nodded in response and went inside accordingly.
They went to the kitchen-dining room, which they usually did whenever Olivia arrived earlier than the start of their tutoring sessions. Olivia headed to her ’designated’ seat on the dining chair while Eternity immediately headed toward the refrigerator and asked Olivia, "Juice?"
Eternity still bothered to offer politely even though she already knew that Olivia would answer ’yes’ like she always did.
But this time, Olivia shook her head and said, "I’ll pass."
Eternity raised an eyebrow, her gut telling her something was completely wrong with Olivia’s behavior.
"Olivia?" Eternity said in a tentatively low voice, scrambling to take a seat on the dining chair directly in front of where Olivia was sitting. "You can be honest with me. Is there something bothering you today?"
She grabbed Olivia’s hand, causing Olivia to stiffen and snap her head to meet Eternity’s gaze. Her gray eyes, which had been looking elsewhere the whole time since she entered the apartment, finally looked at Eternity.
There was unmistakable sadness and worry in them.
"Hey," Eternity whispered soothingly, giving Olivia’s hand a tender squeeze. "It’s alright, Olivia. You can tell me anything."
Hesitantly, Olivia nodded, though her demeanor seemed extremely anxious.
"Eternity," Olivia spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "I... I need to talk to you about something."
Eternity’s concern deepened as she noticed the tremor in Olivia’s voice and the troubled expression etched on her face. "Of course," she replied softly, her gaze fixed on Olivia. "You can tell me anything."
"It’s about our field trip class..." Her voice faltered, biting her lips and tightly closing her eyes shut.
Eternity’s chest seemed to have tightened with concern as she observed Olivia’s visible distress, her lips pressed tightly together as if struggling to contain the weight of her words. Olivia was a very articulate girl, but for some reason, she was struggling to find the right words at this moment.
"What about it?" Eternity probed.
Olivia finally opened her eyes and took a deep inhale, like she was gathering all her strength because it was physically painful for her to say what she was planning to say.
"Will Mister Holz continue to accompany us on all of our field trips?"
Eternity’s confusion grew, and there was only one explanation why Olivia was acting nervously at the mere mention of Evan’s name.
Evan must’ve offended her.
Eternity tried to recall Olivia and Evan’s interaction last week to see if he had accidentally made her feel uncomfortable, but she couldn’t think of an instance where he did! In fact, they seemed to get along well, and Evan was surprisingly acting like a father figure to Olivia.
"He was planning to join us today, although I’m not sure if this would be a common occurrence starting from now on," she replied, trying to hide the puzzlement in her tone. "Why did you ask?"
Olivia sighed heavily again, and it took her a couple of seconds of contemplation before she spoke again.
"Because if Mister Holz becomes a mainstay on our field trips, I might have to resign from being your field trip teacher."
