The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 133: The Doll’s Pinky Promise
"That doesn’t sound like much of an insult," Eternity said, looking quite perplexed.
"Oh, it is, Miss Doll." Jakob laughed dryly. "It is."
"How so?"
"Basically, what he’s trying to say is that you don’t really think of us—your gay friends—as your true friends and are merely using us as an accessory."
Eternity didn’t have a real heart like a human, at least according to her knowledge about Eternity Women and herself. Despite this, she felt a tight ache in her chest upon hearing Jakob’s explanation.
"So, all this time, this is what J thinks of me, huh?" she whispered to herself.
Her vision began to blur, and she could feel her eyes moistening. Eternity looked away, avoiding Jakob’s gaze before he could notice.
But it was too late.
"Miss Doll?" Jakob straightened his back, alarmed at what was happening.
"I’m sorry..." she tried to speak, only for it to turn into a sob.
Soon enough, tears started trickling down her cheeks, and loud sobs escaped her lips.
"I’m sorry this happened to you," Jakob said, patting her back in a comforting manner. Then he groaned. "Ugh, I’m sorry. I don’t really know how to comfort other people."
Eternity laughed through her tears. "I’m the one who should be sorry. I’m supposed to be giving you a background on what happened with J, but here I am, making it about me!"
"Hey," he said, sounding reproachful. "Don’t say it like that."
But she shook her head, knowing fully well that it was exactly what she was doing.
Eternity took a deep breath, fanning her eyes with her hands.
"Okay," she said finally. "Let me just calm down a bit more, and then after that, I’ll tell you what’s going on."
"Are you sure...?" asked Jakob.
Eternity forced a smile, wiping away the tears that continued to flow.
"Positive."
***
"Esteban?" Jakob repeated in disbelief. "You mean Esteban the liftman?"
Eternity nodded hesitantly, feeling rather bemused by his reaction. By this time, she had completely calmed down, and her tears had dried up.
"Huh," he said, looking at the sky as baffled as she was.
"What’s wrong?"
"Esteban... isn’t even my ex," he said, causing Eternity to gasp loudly. "You make the most interesting reactions, do you know that?"
Eternity looked down, hiding her face to conceal the crimson shade of her cheeks.
"It’s fine," Jakob chuckled, shaking his head. "Anyway, we only had a one-night stand. That’s all."
"So why was he...?"
"Calling my name when he was with J?" Jakob snorted. "He must’ve had a good time with me—Oh, are you the type who gets uncomfortable around this kind of topic?"
Eternity stifled her laughter. The irony was almost too much. She was literally a sex doll—made for sex. It would be absurd to think she would act like a bumbling virgin on the mere topic of sex and casual encounters.
Not that Jakob knew she was a sex doll, anyway.
Eternity shook her head. "No, I think I’m old enough to talk about such topics, Jakob."
"’You think?’" Jakob repeated.
Her moss-green eyes widened, startled. She realized a bit too late that she had slipped up again.
"I-I-I..." Eternity stammered, not knowing how to escape or save herself from the situation in which she had entrapped herself.
"How old are you, Miss Doll?" Jakob probed.
"24," she replied immediately. Too immediate, like it was a rehearsed answer.
"24 is quite young but old enough to talk about such things!" Jakob laughed deeply, the sound resonating from his belly. He didn’t seem the slightest bit suspicious. "Allow me to be more descriptive then."
Eternity relaxed slightly, only realizing now that her whole body was stiff from worry that her friend might find her shady.
’I’m truly grateful that Jakob is an easygoing person,’ she thought.
"So?" Eternity drawled. "What’s the tea?"
Jakob snorted. "I really do find it amusing whenever you use internet lingo in everyday conversation."
She raised an eyebrow. "Does it not suit me?"
"Not that it doesn’t suit you," he clarified. "It’s more of... you seem too elegant and... old-fashioned, even, to be using such terms."
Eternity furrowed her eyebrows together.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
"Take it as you will," Jakob said, trying to ease his way from what could’ve been an awkward conversation. "Anyway, regarding Esteban,"
Eternity nodded fervently and gestured for him to continue. She realized a bit too late that they were straying away from the important topic at hand.
"We just happened to bond over the realization that the person we were in love with was straight."
She looked at him in surprise, her moss-green eyes widening. The wind swept her fiery red hair across her face, momentarily obscuring her view. Eternity brushed the strands away, revealing an expression that was a mixture of astonishment and curiosity.
"You were in love?" She gaped. "With a straight man?"
Jakob nodded, a bitter smile gracing his lips.
"I knew from the start that he was unreachable, but to find out that he was straight all along—I felt like I was doused with cold water! But apparently, I wasn’t the only one who felt like this."
"Oh?" Eternity exclaimed. "What do you mean?"
"My LGBTQIA++ colleagues decided to form an informal support group, you know, so we could process our grief."
"That seems..." Eternity trailed off because she didn’t want to sound judgmental.
"Too much?" Jakob guessed. "I know it is. Everyone in the group knew that it was. But anyway, that’s where I got the chance to be closer to Esteban."
"Wait," Eternity interrupted abruptly, her curiosity piqued. "You said ’colleagues.’ Does that mean the person you’re in love with also works at RBAB?"
Jakob nodded, biting his lip as if he had been expecting this question.
"Who is he?" she asked, leaning in closer, her curiosity burning.
There was a moment of silence between them, as if Jakob was contemplating whether he should share this information with her. But after a while, he let out a deep sigh.
"Promise me you won’t laugh," he said, his voice almost a whisper.
Eternity nodded fervently, raising her pinky finger. "I won’t. Pinky promise."
Jakob chuckled softly at her small, earnest gesture. Still, he raised his pinky and linked it with hers, sealing the promise.
As they pulled away, Jakob sighed again, as if gathering all his strength to speak the words that weighed heavily on his heart.
"You know, Jakob," Eternity said gently, "if it’s too painful for you, then—"
"Sir Holz."
Eternity froze, a deep frown forming on her face.
"What?" she asked, needing to be sure she had heard correctly.
"The person I was in love with," Jakob repeated, his tone laced with melancholy. "It’s Sir Holz."
