The CEO's Seductive Doll-Chapter 85: The Doll is Safe and Sound
Eternity’s emerald eyes widened, and she opened her plump lips to speak, yet her throat could not produce a coherent sound in response to what she just heard.
But it seemed like she didn’t need to because Olivia’s gray eyes widened, and she pulled her hand away from Eternity’s as if the contact with her skin had left her scalded.
"I said something off again, did I?" Olivia asked with a shaky, worried voice. "You’re going to fire me, are you?"
Eternity furrowed her eyebrows, feeling confused at the turn of events. What the hell was going on?
"I’m sorry!" Olivia bowed her head as low as she could, probably even lower if it were not for the table in front of her. "People tell me I tend to say things that are beyond reasonable but make a lot of sense to me."
"Do not worry about that," Eternity soothed. "But I have my doubts about how someone else would react if you were to ask them the same thing."
"I’m sorry!" Her head went even lower until her forehead bumped against the table.
"Please raise your head, Olivia." Eternity urged, which Olivia hesitantly followed.
"I would be lying if your words didn’t surprise me." She began, and Olivia noticeably tensed up. "But I’m not offended. In fact, I’m curious how you got the idea that I’m a human trafficking victim!"
"Are you sure?" Olivia asked, her eyes still looking away from Eternity’s. "If my words didn’t offend you earlier, I guarantee my subsequent ones would."
But Eternity merely smiled and said, "Hit me with your best shot!"
"So you said you’re not from this country," Olivia started to tell her theory of Eternity’s backstory. "And you indicated that the education system back in your own nation is not as advanced compared to here." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Eternity nodded, motioning for her to continue with her hand.
"From this information," she continued. "I can assume that your country of origin is a poor, developing country. This explains why you need tutoring, although I’m not sure 𝘸𝘩𝘺 you need tutoring for literature, at the age of 23. Also,"
"Also?" Eternity probed.
Olivia’s cheeks flushed into a pinkish hue.
"You’re very beautiful, Eternity."
"Thank you," Eternity chuckled. "Although I’m not sure how this contributes to my being a human trafficking victim,"
She shook her head.
"No, Eternity. This is the 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 reason why I think you are one." Olivia declared with much determination. "My conjecture is that the billionaire, Evanescence Holz--"
"Call him ’Evan." Eternity interrupted, frowning. "He dislikes the name ’Evanescence.’"
Olivia wrinkled her forehead but corrected it.
"My conjecture is that the billionaire Evan Holz, was enamored by your beauty and decided to bring you here. You, being..."
"Uneducated," Eternity finished for her.
Olivia reluctantly nodded.
"You immediately agreed without thinking about the repercussions of your agreeing to come with him here."
Olivia’s expression turned into a sneer.
"Now, before he plans to flaunt you around his peers, he wants to hide your poor background by having you tutored. That’ll make you seem like a woman with high education and, in turn, not make him look like a laughingstock for bringing a beautiful, younger woman from a poor country."
Eternity was silent for a few seconds.
"Is that all?"
Olivia nodded.
"Do I sound crazy?"
"Not really," Olivia assured, a small smile forming on her lips. "Maybe a bit judgmental, but surely imaginative."
Olivia lowered her head again, looking genuinely apologetic for what she thought of Eternity.
"I’m sorry."
"It’s fine," Eternity said, shaking her head. "Though I see your point, you made an interesting one, after all."
"So," Olivia drawled. "Am I right?"
"Heavens no!" Eternity laughed heartily. "Evan didn’t kidnap me out of my country to use as a trophy girlfriend!"
’Instead, I was bought from a shop and gifted to Evan against his will.’ Eternity wanted to clarify, but that would only confirm the human trafficking allegations.
Olivia’s eyes widened in surprise at Eternity’s laughter, clearly not expecting such a reaction. She seemed taken aback but also relieved that Eternity didn’t confirm her suspicions.
"I’m glad," Olivia said in relief, and her shoulders were finally visibly relaxed. "I was really worried for a moment there. I’m glad to hear that you’re safe, and that’s just my imagination going haywire."
Eternity offered Olivia a reassuring smile. "I appreciate your concern, Olivia. It means a lot to me. But I don’t think you should be openly saying things like that because you might end up offending some people."
Olivia returned the smile, although she looked quite worried.
"I’ve been told that I say whatever’s on my mind without thinking."
It was Eternity’s turn to hold Olivia’s hand that was on top of the table.
"I know you only meant well and came from a place of concern. And who knows, what if I were a human trafficking victim? You could’ve saved me from my predicament."
Olivia could only smile again. This time, delight took the place of worry in her eyes.
"You know, in case I was right with my assumption," Olivia said. "I planned to bring you to the police station on our fieldtrip class."
Eternity couldn’t help but gasp, not because of the police station part but because of the field trip one. "You’re also in charge of my field trip class?"
Olivia nodded and beamed at her.
"Apparently, Mister Royall convinced Mister Holz that I’m quite knowledgeable about the city of Berlin, so Mister Holz agreed that I should also be the one to show you around the city!"
Eternity raised an eyebrow upon hearing the name ’Royall.’
"By ’Royall,’ do you mean...?"
"Oh, I meant Mister Freiheit!" Olivia clarified. "He told me he personally persuaded your boyfriend to hire me as your tutor. Thank the heavens for Mister Royall, or else I wouldn’t earn a grade for my internship."
"Why’s that?" Eternity queried.
"No one wants to take in a sixteen-year-old as a teaching assistant." Olivia explained. "They say that the students won’t take me seriously if I’m the same age as them."
"That’s a bit harsh." Eternity furrowed her eyebrows. "Although I see their point."
Olivia sighed in distress but pointed at her meal in front of her.
"Well, enough about me," Olivia said, trying to change the topic of the conversation away from herself. "I’ll finish my lunch, and we’ll get started on our tutoring session as soon as I’m done."
She paused for a second.
"Are you sure you don’t want to eat before we begin?" Olivia asked, just to be sure.
"I’m good," Eternity assured. "Do you want me to prepare the textbooks while you finish up?"
Olivia grinned and nodded. "That would be lovely."
Eternity stood up from her seat and was about to leave the kitchen-dining room, but Olivia grabbed her hand.
"But seriously, Eternity," she began. "I’m glad that you’re not in a situation where I thought you were. The idea that someone as kind and wonderful as you would be in danger makes me sick to my stomach."
Eternity’s smile faltered slightly at Olivia’s words, her mind drifting to the unsettling reality of her existence.
"I promise you," Eternity said. "I’m in a perfectly safe condition, and I’m living my best life."
