The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 65: His Love
Vera Xavier watched him, and she had to hand it to him. ’In my past life, I was afraid of him, so I didn’t know him all that well. If he hadn’t shielded me with his own body when I died, I might never have known how much he loved me.’
’And from the looks of it, he’s clearly not someone who’s good at expressing his feelings. His personality is a bit stoic, too. It looks like the road to changing him will be a long and arduous one. Even though I have very positive feelings for him because of my memories from my past life, actually falling in love with him won’t be so easy, it seems.’
She nodded, remembering something. She picked up a green bean and held it to his lips. He glanced at her, and seeing her smile, he ate it without a word.
Vera Xavier asked him, "Nathan... uh, Nathaniel, I thought you didn’t like green beans?"
"How did you know I don’t like green beans?" Nathaniel asked.
Vera inwardly cursed. ’Oh no.’ She knew he disliked green beans because of something that had happened at a dinner party in her past life.
’Back then, some woman who was trying to pursue him had given him some green beans. No one knew what had set him off, but he had picked up the entire plate of green beans and dumped it on her face. Then he said he didn’t like them, and if she liked them so much, she could have them all to herself.’
’I can’t just tell him that, can I?’
So, she cleared her throat and said, "I told you I would try to get along with you and have a proper relationship, right? So naturally, I had to do my homework. I’ve been doing my best to learn more about you."
Her words put Nathaniel in an exceptionally good mood, though his expression barely changed, save for the corners of his lips turning up slightly. His tone was casual. "If there’s anything you want to know about me, you can just ask me directly. The information you gathered isn’t accurate. I like green beans a lot."
This time, it was Vera’s turn to be surprised. ’Could it be that in our past life, he was just deliberately looking for an excuse to lose his temper?’
She was still trying to wrap her head around the matter from her past life when he suddenly added, "I won’t dislike any dish that you like."
Vera was so startled by his sudden remark that her chopsticks clattered to the floor. She then realized that while he might be stoic and not a great conversationalist, he had a knack for being unexpectedly charming—and his charm always hit the bullseye.
For example, the way he ate the candy earlier, and now this... this confession that might not even count as one.
She bent down to retrieve her chopsticks, but he was already one step ahead, picking them up and personally getting her a new pair. "Eat more," he said. "You have an exam tomorrow. You need to build up your strength."
Vera bit her lip lightly and asked, "So, you brought me here today to make sure I got enough nutrition?"
Nathaniel said nothing.
Vera, however, let out a laugh. A warmth spread through her heart. ’For someone like him, being this thoughtful doesn’t come easy.’
Vera then asked him, "What made you decide to mail those things to me?"
"All that matters is that you received them," Nathaniel replied simply.
Vera leaned in close to him and said, "Thank you!"
Nathaniel glanced at her, then unhurriedly leaned forward, tilting his head down slightly. He gave her a swift kiss on the lips. "Now *that’s* the proper way to show gratitude."
Vera was dumbstruck once again. She truly hadn’t expected Nathaniel to just kiss her like that!
Her face flushed instantly. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
She didn’t dare look at Nathaniel. If she had, she would have discovered that his face was just as red as hers—flushed all the way to the tips of his ears. The only difference was that his expression remained as composed as ever.
