First, Grandma Dixon heard Rona Langdon’s cursing, followed by soft murmurs. Then she heard Vera Xavier offer to cook for Rona, which she refused. After that, Vera went upstairs. It was all surprisingly calm.

’I’m dying of curiosity,’ Grandma Dixon thought. ’Could it be that Rona made such a huge scene today that she feels humiliated and has decided to change her ways?’

After returning to her room, Rona Langdon found an old set of clothes to change into. She looked at the outfit Vera Xavier had cut to shreds, her heart aching at the sight. ’That Vera is truly ruthless, to just cut up this dress! This dress was worth over a thousand bucks!’

And the other outfits... she had felt the material when she took them. They were so smooth and sleek, much better than even the most expensive clothes she owned.

Then there were the shoes. Not only were the styles beautiful, but the leather was excellent and incredibly comfortable. It was just a shame her feet were a different shape from Vera’s and a much larger size, so she couldn’t wear them. Otherwise, she would have worn a pair today.

She had originally planned to give those shoes to her niece from her side of the family. But now, Vera had taken them all back. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

The more she thought about it, the more her heart ached!

Rona Langdon twisted her neck. The spot where Vera had pricked her with the scissors was throbbing with pain. She gritted her teeth and cursed, "That worthless bitch is so vicious! How dare she lay a hand on me! I’ll make you pay for this next time!"

After her outburst, she felt incredibly wronged. She had wanted to take advantage of Zachary Preston’s absence to teach Vera Xavier a good lesson and show her who was boss.

But not only had she failed to teach Vera a lesson, she had first ruined her own reputation and then gotten a lesson from Vera instead!

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became!

It was already eight in the evening when Cara Preston returned home. The moment she walked in, she sensed that the atmosphere in the house was off. The kitchen was a complete mess, utterly chaotic.

Her gaze darkened. Her first reaction was that Rona Langdon was at it again, trying to discipline Vera Xavier. This was something she was happy to see, but judging by the mess everywhere, it didn’t look like Rona had gotten the upper hand.

She went upstairs, knocked on Vera’s door, and slipped inside. "Sister, what happened at home today?" she asked.

Vera Xavier could see right through Cara Preston’s scheme. With a look of pure grievance, she said, "Mom took all my clothes and shoes today."

As she spoke, she stared intently into Cara’s eyes and saw them instantly light up. But what Cara said was, "How could Mom do that? I’ll go downstairs and have a word with her."

With that, she went straight downstairs to find Rona Langdon.

Vera Xavier put on a hesitant expression, but Cara Preston said, "Don’t worry, Sister. I’ll have a good talk with Mom and make her give your things back."

’Inwardly, she was ecstatic. Rona took Vera’s things. If I go down now, say a few bad things about Vera, and sweet-talk Rona, she’ll definitely reward me with an outfit.’

’Once Rona says the clothes are mine, Vera will have nothing to say. Even when Zachary Preston gets back, I’ll be in the right.’

Pleased with her little scheme, she went downstairs and knocked on Rona Langdon’s door.

Vera Xavier raised an eyebrow. ’She could practically predict what was about to happen. Rona suffered a huge loss at her hands today. For Cara to so eagerly present herself now... wasn’t she just volunteering to be a punching bag?’
