The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 55: [Bonus - ]I Know

Nikolai simply watched in silence till Mineah finally went to sleep. He then walked out outside of the stone house. From there, he sat on a rock while staring up at the moon.

There, one of his vultures flew towards him and perched itself on the rock beside him.

"It's nice of you to accompany me on my lonesome, Roro," Nikolai chortled.

Roro simply snorted as it looked at the other two vultures flying around them. They were a family. Roro was the father, and the other two were Ala, the mother, and their son, Kuru. They were his and Dahlia's pets, and it was also she who had named their vultures.

Looking up at the moon, Nikolai let out a sigh as he muttered, "I wonder… How come I'm not just someone normal like my kind? I mean, why do I even have to be picky with human blood, Roro? And why the hell do I have to start craving it every full moon?"

Everything seemed to be connected as well. Ever since the sky cried blood during King Stephan and Queen Dana's union, his craving for human blood every full moon started appearing as well. It seemed like his and Mineah's fates were intertwined together after all, and no one knew how things would turn out in the future ever since.…

He smiled upon recalling Mineah's genuine words of them making their relationship work as a real husband and wife. He wondered if he was really capable of doing so…

"I should tell her about Dahlia," Nikolai muttered. "But I don't know how to start…"

Roro made a hissing sound, making him turn to the vulture. "Hmm, what's with that reaction, Roro? Ah, right, I haven't introduced you and your family to Mine," he chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll let you three greet her tomorrow…"

With that, Roro simply flapped its wings and flew back up together with the rest of its family. Watching his pet leave with the rest of its family, Nikolai couldn't help but reminisce about one of his precious memories with Dahlia back in the day.

'Nikolai, I want to remain human so that the two of us can have many babies. Ala and Roro only have one, so we should have more…'

Those were her last words, a bright smile etched onto her face as the two of them watched Roro and Ala be together with their newly-hatched Kuru on the rooftop of his palace. That was also when a blue moon suddenly appeared in the sky as well.

What should've been a normal day of him and Dahlia sharing a few good moments with one another had turned into a tragedy for her. Their plans together shattered when he ended up killing her twenty-one years ago on that same day.

Ever since then, he had seemingly lost his reason to stay alive. He couldn't even count how many times he tried to end his immortal life because of the guilt and pain inside his heart. It was all just too much to bear.

Closing his eyes, he held back the tears welling in his eyes as Dahlia's memories gave him a few smiles despite the pain.

Opening his eyes, he then weakly murmured, "Mineah is demanding for my heart, but I feel like I'd be betraying you, Dahlia. I vowed that no one will own my heart except for you. My heart… it stopped beating the moment I lost you. What should I do?"

Mineah was asking for answers, but it was hard for him to express himself whenever it came to Dahlia. How could he tell Mineah that he killed the woman he loved by drinking her dry? Even the thought of how it happened still haunted him all these years. That smile on her face despite her lifelessness was still so vivid in his head.

Was he really allowed to love again? Dahlia didn't deserve it… He didn't deserve to be happy as well after what he did.

Nikolai sighed loudly as he stood up. He would love to go back inside to be with Mineah, but he was still scared of what seemed to be growing feelings inside his heart for his wife.

When did it even start? Perhaps when he found out from his Scions that Mineah was in danger? It almost felt like his world was ready to crumble again the moment he received their report for some reason.

Just the thought of losing her and not being able to protect her properly made him lose it. He traveled as fast as he could to her, not minding the dangers ahead. He… He was ready to vanish and kill whoever and whatever would hinder his path to get to his wife safely…

"Mine…" Nikolai lovingly hummed as he now stood before his sleeping wife.

Sitting on the bed, he simply stared at her before raising his hand to gently caress her cheek with his knuckles.

Mineah's arrival in his life was honestly something he didn't expect. She was making him feel things he wasn't fully prepared for.

And that hunger… Not just for her blood… Was it only lust? After all, he was still a man with needs, but… deep inside, he felt like there was something more for her brewing within.

Eventually, she stirred and slowly opened her eyes. "Why are you still awake?" she sheepishly murmured.

He smiled and said, "I'm a vampire, Mine. I don't need sleep to regain strength."

"You still need rest to ease your mind though," she murmured. "Come here."

Nikolai flinched, her words sounding as if she was aware of the dilemma currently agonizing him. And before he could even respond, Mineah had already grabbed his hand and pulled him closer to her. That gesture made him smile as he immediately laid down beside her.

"I'm mad at you because you still intend to feed on Rosela," Mineah sluggishly yawned out. "I want you to fall in love with me. And by doing that, I don't want you getting involved with any other woman at all. If you need to feed, I will provide my blood for you."

He inwardly smiled. She was so adorable that he ended up cuddling her into his chest.

"Please don't misunderstand me, Mine," Nikolai explained. "I simply don't want to risk your life. Also, I know you're aware that I don't feed on humans…"

"You did it before, so I don't see the point why you can't do it again with me," Mineah murmured.

"What… w-what-"

"Dahlia," she firmly said. "I know about her."
