Chapter 42: 42: Disapproval

I was still struggling to come up with a tangible response when the car pulled up at our destination.
"We’ll continue this conversation later." Angelo informed me as I stepped out of the car and I absolutely wasn’t looking forward to said conversation at all.
After we all alighted the car, my heartbeat picked up because I was instantly reminded of the fact that we had a meeting to attend right now. As a sigh left my mouth, I tugged Landon’s jacket closer to me while sighing again.
"Let’s go," Damon said and even after he and his brothers began to move, I still remained in the same spot till they glanced back to state at me.
"You’re nervous." Damon stated solely like he as speaking about the weather and I pursed my lips. Of course I’m nervous right now. Who wouldn’t be?
When I didn’t respond, Landon came back till he was standing by my side.
"There’s no need to be frightened, okay? We might be mad at you but we’ll definitely still protect you. He won’t be able to hate you tonight or any other time caused we’ll all kept you safe." He revealed and even though I won’t admit, his words helped me out so much, they made me stop feeling so, so frightened.
I ended up nodding as I let out a long exhale. "Okay,"
"Let’s hurry then, our father is definitely waiting for us right now," Damon called out this time and I nodded again.
I guess we do have to finally get this over with.

When we arrived in the king’s throne room, he was waiting there, and he looked even angrier than he looked back in the gathering tonight. He looked so furious right now, one might think we had actually committed a crime against him from how he was staring at us.
"What is the meaning of this?!!" He thundered angrily as jr paced around. I let out a shaky sigh, my heart starting thump hard because it was clear that I was the one being referred to right now.
"I don’t understand what you mean, father." Angelo was the one to respond this time and his father leveled him with a glare so sharp, if he was a lesser person, he’d hand crumpled to the ground at once. But Angelo looked completely unfazed as he held ad fathers’s gaze.
"Don’t you dare play dumb with me right now! How dare you keep the fact that you’ve all found your fated mate away from me?!! Choosing to reveal it tonight of all nights? When I thought you were gonna announce your wedding dates to your betrothed... I even invited your betrothed brides’ family to attend tonight’s gathering as well!" He yelled and the triplets snorted at the same time,
"I don’t understand your annoyance, father. We chose to reveal our mate when we were ready, since when is that a crime?!" Damon snapped as he folded his arms.
"I didn’t expect this from you, Damon. Why didn’t you advise your brothers to do the right thing? Why didn’t you reveal your fated mate to me first? I had to find out tonight along with every other person! You Damon, you’ve even lied to my face about that wrench.., that she was your mistress. So that was nothing but a lie?!"
I stiffened ever more, wishing that I could disappear from this conversation right now.
"We had our reasons, father. Please respect them." Damon said in a flat voice this time.
"And of course, we didn’t mean any harm. We had reasons for doing what we did, but now we’re revealed her to everyone, so there shouldn’t be any problem in moving forward." Landon chipped in this time.
Their father still looked so angry as he continued to save around again.
"You’ve all insulted me by keeping that away from me, which is why I cannot allow you to mate with her," the king suddenly announced and I stiffened as my eyes widened.
"Pardon?" This was Angelo speaking right now.
"Yes, cause if you had made me aware that she was your fated mate, I’d have run a background check on her, I’d have put her through the necessary tests and so on, but you all kept it away from me, so she cannot become you mate, nor can she get on the luna throne.
Damon stepped forward this time. "Wait, so you’re we’d have to reject her?"
The king nodded. "Exactly,"
My heartbeat accelerated and something tightened hard in my chest at once. I didn’t know what to make of that feeling right now. I should be feeling extremely excited right now, but I feel nothing,
"You must be out of your mind if you think we’d actually do that, the fuck?" Landon scoffed out through a laugh.
"What is the problem now, father? The agreement was that you’ll let us wed our fated mates if we find her, or we’ll end up with our betrothed brides. Now that we’ve found our mate, you definitely cannot go back on your word now." Angelo added this time, his face a mask of fury,
"Like I said before, I’m not trying to change my words, I just said a background check needs to be done on her." The king bit out.
"Well, that definitely isn’t necessary because we already did one." Landon pointed out and I frowned in surprise because I didn’t know they looked into my past.
"I still cannot approve of her without assessing her myself. After all, I need to ensure she’s good enough for my sons, and for the pack,"
Damon snorted while Angelo laughed.
"Since when did you start caring about us, father?" Angelo asked in a flat voice.
"You know I’ve always cared. I might not show it but I do care, and that’s why I can’t approve of someone who’s undoubtedly from a low class. What is her title? She’s titleless, isn’t she? A titleless person definitely can’t be mated to my sons." the king spoke as he looked between his sons.
"She’s not titleless. She’s a princess," Angelo revealed and the king was clearly shocked by that revelation. I was also mildly taken aback because I had kind of forgotten that I was a princess.
"Is she now? From what pack?" The king asked me this time and I swallowed emptily, feeling nervous as hell as I responded.
"Starlight pack,"
The king’s mouth fell open as he looked at his sons.
"S- she is our enemy’s daughter? You three want to get mated with an enemy??"
