The Cursed Triplet Alphas' Fated Mate-Chapter 44; Blame
Chapter 44: 44; Blame
Sue
I stared between the Princes and their father, unable to figure out what Damon meant just now.
The king shook his head. "Of course that’s not why I brought it up, I did it because we need justice, and we’re definitely still gonna get it. But for now, we can start off by killing off our enemy’s daughter and sending her head wrapped up to her father as a present." The king explained to his sons.
It was like he was mistaken right now. Did he think my father would care if that ever happened? My father would only care if it was my younger sister.
If it was me, he’d be relieved that someone had helped him finally get rid of his embarrassing child. I had tried not to think about the fact that my father never bothered to come for me despite knowing he took me away. That was more than enough proof all over again that he cared only about my younger sister.
"But since when did you start to care about mother? Last we heard, you never did." Landon pointed out as he regarded his father wearily.
"You definitely heard wrong. I’ve always cared about her," he insisted almost immediately but Landon didn’t look like he believed him.
"Now, make a decision right now. I’m sure you’d never want someone like this as your mate and Luna any longer." The king continued as he looked between his children, my heart leaped into my throat once again, panic flaring within me as my eyes settled on the gleaming sword the king was yet to put away.
"Did you know about this? That your father is behind our mother’s death?" Angelo asked in a low, flat voice as he stared at me with a look which I could recognize at all. I quickly shook my head as my eyes widened.
"What? No! I had no idea at all!" I responded just as the king snorted.
"She’s clearly lying but what did you expect? For her to tell you the truth?"
"You did say you were a fighter back in your pack, so you must definitely know of your pack’s history," Damon growled this time and I flinched. freёwebnoѵel.com
"That’s different, I only knew surface level things, I didn’t know anything about the pack’s past!" I cried out, still unable to believe how indifferent the princes were acting right now.
As I looked between them once again, I wondered if they’d really stand by and watch me get killed by their father? Over something I didn’t even know about? Over the sins of my tether, who always treated me like a stranger and never like a daughter?
"Excuses, excuses," Damon said as he scoffed and looked away from me.
"You’re all in favor of me killing her, yes?" The king began and he lifted his sword high in the air. My eyes widened as my knees shook while I fell to my ass in the very next moment.
"Don’t kill her." Angelo spoke this time, stopping his father at the last moment. I was breathing so fast that I felt so dizzy right now.
The king didn’t look happy as he turned around to face his child. "Why not?!"
"Well, she’s our mate, isn’t she?" Angelo snapped and the king’s eyes widened in bewilderment.
"Don’t tell me you’re still gonna accept her..."
Angelo waved him off. "We aren’t doing that anymore, but what we’ll do with her would be our decision." Angelo explained and those words made my heart drop into my stomach. I didn’t know what to think or how to feel. Does this mean they won’t be marrying me anymore? What exactly did he mean?
"Are you sure you’d be able to do what’s needed without your emotions coming into play? Because I could just finish this off right now." The king spoke, clearly displeased.
"Nah, we’ll decide what to do with our mate." Angelo responded, then he was motioning me over. I didn’t dare resist as I quickly got to my feet and was beside him in the next second.
"We’ll leave right now," Landon said to their father who nodded as he finally put his sword away.
"Alright, have a lovely night." He said in response then they were all leaving, with me awkwardly walking behind them.
I didn’t know what to expect on moving forward, but I just know whatever it was could never mean anything good, the amount of coldness I was feeling from them presently couldn’t be described with mere words after all.
Before, despite their actions, they were still never this cold to me, if it was a normal day, despite whatever i might say, Landon or Angelo would be walking beside me right now, in my personal space at that. However presently, it was like they couldn’t wait to be completely away from me.
When he got into a large room in the princes’ wing, I was so nervous that I was only breathing as slowly as possible because I didn’t want to make any noise, especially seeing as the room was quiet since no one was speaking. The princes were seated, their head faced down, clearly deep in thoughts, while I awkwardly stood in the middle of the room.
"Be honest with me... were you aware of that? Of what your father did?" Angelo was the first to speak.
Again, I shook my head fast while my heart pounded away.
"I didn’t, I swear it." I insisted and he didn’t respond, he just looked away.
After what felt like ages, Landon got to his feet, his hands deep in his pockets as he spoke. "I don’t think you can become our Luna anymore."
There was no trace of playfulness in his eyes right now. If anything, his eyes were so cold that they crept me out. He emitted so much coldness right now, which was a sharp contrast to what I was used to when it comes to him.
I swallowed emptily as his words settled deep within me, then I spoke.
"Are you all blaming me for your mother’s death?"
