Chapter 548: Chapter 288: Master of the Forbidden Zone

Jiang Shu leisurely placed the two large bags of groceries from the supermarket into the back seat of the taxi, then seated himself in the passenger seat and slowly drove towards home.

However, as the vehicle crossed the boundary of EF District, an image of a woman inexplicably popped into Jiang Shu’s mind.

Du Yuyi.

Come to think of it, since he had stood her up last time, he had not seen this woman again and had no idea what had happened to her.

Since he was already in F District, he might as well make a detour to check on her.

With that thought, Jiang Shu turned the car around and headed towards the location of Du Yuyi’s Taro Club.

But three minutes away from the Taro Club, Jiang Shu suddenly displayed a look of vigilance. He furrowed his brow deeply, his eyes clouded with suspicion.

He had seen something in his Foreknowledge Technique that dismayed him.

But...

That vision would happen in four minutes and twenty-five seconds, so in order to see more of the upcoming events, he had to continue forward according to the scene revealed by the Foreknowledge Technique.

He couldn’t change his actions; otherwise, the future he could see would alter as well.

The taxi raced at eighty kilometers per hour, continuously avoiding pedestrians crossing the road and sports cars that would suddenly accelerate, the dizzyingly beautiful streetscape flashing by in Jiang Shu’s peripheral vision, while his gaze remained fixated on something in a void.

The future.

As he drew closer to the Taro Club, the future he saw became more and more vivid and concrete.

There was no danger.

Judging by what would happen in the next four minutes and twenty-seven seconds, he would not be at risk. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

But he still found the future somewhat incomprehensible.

One minute later, Jiang Shu’s car stopped on a quiet and deserted street.

The location of the Taro Club was rather secluded, situated in the suburbs; there may not be many people around even during the day, and now, just past nine in the evening, the place was already enveloped in a deathly stillness.

Jiang Shu looked up at the position of the Taro Club upstairs and, just like in the future he had seen, there were no lights on.

However, in the next second, something eerie happened.

"Bang—" A dull sound emanated from the small building. Looking in that direction from Jiang Shu’s point of view, at the end of a straight staircase, a thick iron door was automatically opened, revealing endless darkness within.

The rainwater pipes were exposed outside the building, running from top to bottom along the wall, leading to the rooftop of a five- or six-story building, and ending about thirty to forty centimeters above the ground. The outlet pointed directly at a sewer opening on the road.

At that moment, sounds were coming continuously from that dirty white water pipe, as if some hard object was knocking inside. Shortly thereafter, a hand reached out from within.

The hand was a non-human hue of bluish-purple, gaunt and withered. Judging by the size of the hand, the creature hidden in the pipe was approximately human-sized, but inexplicably, it managed to squeeze into that narrow pipe.

Then, this hand slowly extended out of the pipe, grabbed the ground, and violently pulled with strength, as if finding a fulcrum to dramatically speed up its emergence.

Another hand stretched out of the pipe, heightening the sense of incongruity; these hands were not small and were clearly not soft. How had the owner of these hands gotten into the pipe?

But the fact was sheer, and soon, an extremely thin human-shaped creature emerged from it.

Long-limbed and over two meters tall, with a lateral width of about forty centimeters, it was extremely thin but larger than what the drainage pipe should accommodate.

In essence, this was entirely unscientific; it must be some special ability.

The thin, tall silhouette was dressed in a Western-style servant’s attire, but the clothes were not clean. Supposed to be white, they were covered with a layer of dusky color.

Its head, too, was elongated, with only black voids where features should be. These voids, also elongated ovals, appeared as though they had been stretched along with the entire skull, creating a peculiar look.

"You’ve gained weight again," a clear female voice came from the earpiece of the thin, long servant.

Jiang Shu had already heard it many times in his Foreknowledge Technique, so he recognized it; it was Du Yuyi’s voice.

Although the detached sense was very similar to Liu Tingruo’s, compared to the crispness of Liu Tingruo’s voice, like a cold, clear mountain spring, Du Yuyi’s was huskier with a subtle flirtatious undertone.

"Oh no, I haven’t. Don’t you know what thermal expansion and contraction are? You must realize it’s winter now; it’s just the pipe contracting from the cold," the thin, long servant retorted irritably, then added, "Really, Miss, you are quite impolite."

"What did you say?" Du Yuyi’s tone turned cold on the other end.

"I said, God loves the world, may God bless you," replied the thin, long servant quickly, following up on her words, "I swear, if not, let Aunt Suliyia next door give my ass a good kick!"

Jiang Shu rubbed his ears; the voice of the thin, long servant was overly shrill, like two awls constantly scraping beside him, somewhat torturous to listen to.

And he could faintly detect an overdubbing accent, which made this otherwise normal phrase sound sarcastically peculiar.

Then the servant took elegant steps towards Jiang Shu, crossing his right hand in front of his chest, then bowing slightly, offering a greeting before speaking in an unhurried pace, "Mr. Jiang Shu, my mistress Du Yuyi requests your presence."
