Chapter 586: Chapter 301 Magic? Deception? Ready to Go!_2

On Wolf Face’s body, Jiang Shu felt nothing but an abyss-like oppression.

There was no obvious armor, yet there was a terrifying presence, and now his arms had nonchalantly morphed into silvery wing suits.

This transformation was unlike anything he knew.

Normally, when prosthetics transformed, there would be clear signs of assembly and joints, but as Lang Tai’s arms changed, they flowed like water, as if liquid metal was freely reconfiguring itself.

Such a shape-shifting ability, Gary had never heard of; he could only roughly guess that it was some kind of mysterious metal made from Black Silver, beyond that he knew nothing.

Black Silver...

Could his entire body have been forged from Black Silver?

Even now, he couldn’t help but be shocked — how terrifying must be the amount of Black Silver and technical support required for such a feat?

"Let’s go," Jiang Shu patted Gary on the shoulder, "we need to leave this place quickly."

"Okay," Gary nodded.

The group quickly left the building and dispersed, heading towards their shared destination.

——

"Wake up." The Fox patted the collapsed President on the ground, applying the Heart Anchor technique to revoke his hypnotic state.

The President’s eyes snapped open as if he had been jolted awake from a nightmare, but upon awakening, his gaze was laced with confusion. He looked at the person in front of him wearing a fox mask and then around at the unfamiliar surroundings, failing to comprehend what had happened to him.

But soon, a glint of clarity appeared in his eyes, and he remembered — he had been abducted.

Abducted by the people from Rift and Deception Group.

"You’re the Fox, aren’t you?" the President asked calmly, looking at the person in front of him, then struggled to sit up, "Deception Group, right? I remember I haven’t offended you."

"So what?" laughed the Fox dismissively, "Does it have to be that you’ve offended us for us to target you? Let me think, your employees haven’t offended you, have they? And yet you still did what you did to them."

"I think we can have a proper discussion," the President quickly changed the topic, seemingly unwilling to elaborate, "What are you doing all this for? Money? Attention? Or something else?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

However, Fox, seeing through the President’s intent, talked nonsense with utter seriousness, "For freedom, for justice, for human destiny as a community."

President: "..."

He had hoped to elicit the Fox’s self-interest and then sway him with prospects of gain, but the Fox started spouting about humanity’s common destiny...

And just like that, he was left speechless.

"Behave yourself," the Fox chuckled again, seemingly indifferent to the President’s words. It was as if he had an idea, and he said to the President, "Think on the bright side—since we’re wearing masks and haven’t shown you our true faces, it doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll kill you, does it?"

The President frowned, then relaxed, "What exactly do you want me to do?"

"Shh—" the Fox made a mysterious silence gesture towards the President.

At that moment, Jiang Shu and Fang Yue, both wearing masks, walked in. Their gaze lingered on the President on the ground for an instant, then quickly shifted away.

"All set?" asked the Fox, turning to Jiang Shu.

"Almost, we’re just waiting for Hughes. Once he’s in place, tonight’s show can start," Jiang Shu replied.

"Let’s check the scene setup," suggested the Fox.

"Sounds good," Jiang Shu agreed. He shot a look to the little Ding flying beside him and Ding stayed behind to watch the President, while the Fox followed Jiang Shu out of the ruins, towards a certain building deep in the rubble.

After the war, that building had become extremely dilapidated, like a failed and unfinished construction project.

A few floors below housed a few Wanderers who had lost their homes due to the war and, without residence or job due to various factors, could only live in such ruins, scraping a living from scavenging.

However, only the first and second floors were sparsely populated. The higher floors were virtually uninhabited.

Without an elevator, daily ascend and descend became extremely difficult.

And the top floor was the destination of Jiang Shu and the Fox.

Standing on the secluded and silent backside of the building, Jiang Shu together looked up at the top of the building, both showing reluctance to take the stairs.

So they called Gary over and had him take them to the top floor of the building.

Back at Gary’s base, the President focused on the painter, Fang Yue, seeing no one around, he considered using benefits to influence Fang Yue.

But he was well aware that with such people, it’s not effective to lead with one’s own demands and bargaining chips, which would only provoke an instinctive resistance.

He needed to take it step by step.

First, he needed to figure out what kind of person Fang Yue was.

The President observed the man, impeccably dressed in a white suit, wearing an equally minimalist white mask.

Obsessive-compulsive.

The President quietly made a note of this, then noticing his own dirty clothes and the wardrobe in the base, he coughed to get Fang Yue’s attention and then said, "Sir, this suit is very dirty, could you help me get a clean one to change into? I can offer you a reward for it."
