The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 63: The Dungeon City
Chapter 63: The Dungeon City
Elsewhere, Agares was blown far back by the shockwave of dark energy that struck the floor boss.
Although he managed to block part of the explosion using his sword’s protection, he still took a significant amount of damage.
[-1500dmg]
[HP: 2650/6850] [-1500dmg]
’If I didn’t have the protection gem on Shadepiercer, that explosion probably would’ve done around 3000 damage,’ he thought.
Aoi took shelter inside the pocket of Agares’s black military shirt, pointing her tail outward to help shield him, though it didn’t make much of a difference.
The dark energy faded, tearing apart the boss room, burning the toys, and turning the room into a sea of fire. Agares had defeated the puppet-like floor boss.

Agares smiled. Defeating the 59th floor boss gave him a great boost. With that puppet monster gone, he’d earned enough EXP to level up and move to the next stage.
He tapped his magic pouch and pulled out an HP potion. He drank it slowly, recovering most of his HP. Not just one—he used three bottles.
[+3000]
[HP: 5650/6850] [+3000]
"Are you alright, Master?" Aoi asked, worried.
"I’m fine. Thanks, Aoi."
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You’ve received dropped items]
[Items:]
[10x Gold Coins]
[1x Cracked Crown Fragment]
[1x Crownstring Gauntlet]
[1x Marionette Core]
[20x Monster Core]
[1x Throneless Key]
The puppet monster had shattered, leaving behind a pile of dropped items. Agares grabbed them and checked—he now had 5 out of the 10 Throneless Keys needed.
He had gotten the others from defeating floor bosses on floors 20, 30, 37, 50, and now 59. Five more to go before he could access the Saber Throne chamber.
The dungeon merchant on the previous floor, Merchant Lo, had offered him a lot of monster cores if he was willing to sell the Throneless Keys.
But Agares knew what they were—and how important they were.
’There’s no way I’m selling something this valuable just for 2000 or 5000 monster cores. It’s not worth it.’
Besides, Agares had another reason for conquering this dungeon—to reach the 100th floor. That’s where the Sword of Lumen Astra awaited its true wielder.
Now, he was already halfway from the top to the bottom, having pushed through various dangers and distinct themed dungeon floors.
The 50th floor had a toy theme. The 40th floor was water. The 30th floor was metal. The 20th floor was earth. And the 10th floor was plant-based.
His journey had brought many benefits: increased stage and level, higher attributes, improved skills, and even enhancements for his sword, Shadepiercer.
The sword’s protective power came from one of the main buffs granted by a dark-element gem. When activated, the gem gave a 40% increase to defense.
Agares had gained a lot, and there was no need to rush. Besides, he hadn’t sold all the dropped items he’d collected from floor 50.
According to Lo, the next dungeon merchant would be on floor 60.
"The pet menu’s open! Yaaay!"
Agares turned and gently rubbed Aoi’s head. Ever since floor 30, she had been asking to become his pet. At this point, he had no reason to say no. Their bond had grown stronger with each battle.
’It wouldn’t be a bad idea to make her one of my reliable companions.’
"You’re right. But for now, let’s return to floor 55 and rest."
Aoi nodded after clearing her throat. The 55th floor was the first city they’d met after so many dungeon floors. Not only humans lived there—other races did too.
It was Midgard City, a place built by the dungeon system to make life inside feel more alive and real.
"Alright, Master."
Agares tapped his pouch and activated a teleport token by pressing the circle at its center. In an instant, blue light surrounded them and transported them from floor 59 to 55.
He and Aoi appeared beside the crystal stone. They weren’t the only ones—other persons arrived from various places as well.
Though everyone came from different races, they all obeyed the city’s rules: no crime, no discrimination.
Agares thought this city inside the dungeon was even more humane than most human cities on the surface.
"Ahhh, I’m so tired," Aoi sighed, stretching out her arms.
"You’re always like this."
Agares walked away from the crystal and made his way toward the city center. People mingled freely, and monster cores were the main currency—coins were worthless here.
"Before we head home, let’s do some shopping. After that, we can do the pet contract."
"Yup! I’m coming too!"
Right. Thanks to the monster cores he earned from selling boss drops, Agares was able to buy a medium-sized house in the city. He’d been living among the locals for a month now.
No one suspected him. No one knew who he truly was. That’s why Agares felt safe living here in Midgard.
Eventually, he arrived at his favorite shop—Merchant Lo’s place. When Lo saw him coming, he immediately smiled, already guessing what Agares was about to do.
"Looks like you’ve brought something I want, Sir Agares."
"I haven’t even shown you anything yet. Are you a fortune-teller now?"
"HAHAHA!"
"Come, show me what you’d like to sell. I’ll be more than happy to take it."
Agares nodded, then tapped his magic pouch and pulled out the items he wanted to sell—starting from regular drops to boss loot. Lo scanned them all carefully and started counting.
[Scan complete]
[Total Items: 106]
[Calculating total value...]
[Calculation complete]
[106 items = 390 Monster Cores]
"Well? Fair price?" Lo asked, showing a detailed list so Agares could review the pricing.
"You’re offering too low for the boss monster cores. I’m selling them at 30 each—the floor 50 boss wasn’t easy."
"Alright, fair enough."
[Recalculating total value...]
[Calculation complete]
[106 items = 440 Monster Cores]
"How about now?" Lo asked.
"That’s what I had in mind."
Agares handed over his items and received a pouch with 440 monster cores. That brought his total up to 2640.
"Thank you, Sir Agares."
"Anything else?"
"Yes. I plan to do a pet contract. Do you sell the materials?"
"That depends on your pet’s tier. Different tiers require different materials."
"I see. Alright then. I’ll come back later," Agares said.
"Wait, Sir Agares."
"I’ll share a little tip—just for my favorite customer."
"Try finding a woman named Milenia. She’s human—and a mage. She might be able to help you with that."
"Milenia?" Agares repeated.
"It seems I know exactly where I can find her."
