The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 87: Feeling Guilt
Chapter 87: Feeling Guilt
"Faking my death?"
"Yes, by using your Shadow Clone skill," Milenia replied.
Shadow Clone was a skill Agares got from a merchant on the 70th floor. Since he had one unlocked skill slot left, he could learn a new skill—one he felt was important for him.
That merchant sold skill tokens, both for hero-specific jobs and general ones. But there were no tokens for the Saber job.
Agares didn’t let that discourage him and chose a different path. In the end, after scanning hundreds of skills in Merchant Luo’s database, he picked Shadow Clone.
He wasn’t interested in Lancer skills—just a personal matter.
Even though many of the Lancer hero’s job skills were powerful, they didn’t appeal to him.
Assassin skills didn’t help either since his sword’s debuff reduced his agility.
Warpriest skills were usable, but only for those with a light affinity base stat.
Archer skills? What was he going to throw? His sword?
Priest skills? Not a chance. His fighting style was too offensive for that kind of magic.
So he decided on a Mage skill—Shadow Clone—even though his INT stat was zero.
Sadly, he didn’t have any item to reset his stat points right now, which meant he’d have to manually put points into INT every time he leveled up.
But as long as he had mana, he could still use Shadow Clone. The downside? The clone couldn’t deal damage, even if it slashed a thousand times.
Because the core of Shadow Clone was magic, he’d need to increase his INT stat if he wanted his clone to be useful in real fights.
Still, given the situation at the dungeon right now, he found out that the skill was perfect for scouting hallways—without relying on Aoi’s sound resonance anymore.
And for now, it was perfect... for faking his death.
"Why do you even have this idea?" Agares asked, turning toward her.
"Everyone in town already knows your condition is getting worse. And I’ve been limiting visits," she said.
"So even if I suddenly announced your death, nobody would be surprised, because—"
"They already expected me to die," Agares cut in, narrowing his eyes toward the front, where Silva was slowly walking away from Milenia’s estate.
"Exactly."
Agares stayed quiet. He wasn’t sure if this plan would work, but Milenia looked completely confident. Like she could already see how it would all play out.
"My clone won’t last more than a day, you know that," Agares said.
"Don’t worry. We just need to bury your clone. You can cancel it anytime once it’s all over."
"That’ll drain my HP."
"That’s the price if you want to get rid of them, you know."
Milenia raised both her hands and gently patted Agares’s shoulders. Aoi jumped off his shoulder to give her space, and Milenia’s gaze landed directly on him.
"Once they believe you’re dead, those adventurers will leave town and never come back looking for you."
"You’ll be able to explore the dungeon freely, visit the city without hiding, and finally have peace. I think it’s worth it."
Agares nodded. It was a solid result, and honestly, something he never thought of.
But any carefully crafted plan always had tiny cracks—ones that might get exposed to the public.
Still, seeing how prepared Milenia was, he figured it wouldn’t hurt to go along with it.
He only had to activate his new skill and create a perfect dark energy clone of himself.
Then, he left the rest of the plan in Milenia’s hands.
"Alright."
"I’ll follow your plan," Agares said.
"Good."
"I’ll get everything ready. You just focus on resting for a few more days—the longer the better. It’ll make people lose hope that you’ll survive."
"Okay. I’ll do my best."

Present Day – Dungeon
Milenia and her men brought Agares’s clone’s corpse to the city graveyard. Some people had already been ordered to dig the grave—Agares’s so-called final resting place.
Silva had fainted after being hit by her friend. Her party members were still in shock. They never expected Agares to die this way.
Leon Thorn, the leader of the adventuring party, had done what he thought was his duty—killing Agares through Cassandra.
One of Silva’s teammates walked toward Leon, seeing how guilty the man looked.
"We see everything. I’ll report this to Archmage Helderic. He and the Kingdom of Caer Vireth will reward all five of you generously," the man said. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"I don’t want money!" Leon snapped.
"HAHA!"
"Everyone wants money. You’re just naive."
"Don’t feel guilty for killing a criminal. You saved millions from whatever crimes Agares would’ve committed in the future," the man continued, patting Leon’s shoulder.
"You should be proud. Your family will be proud of you."
"Can you just go?" Leon shouted.
"We’re going back to the surface in two or three days. If you want to come, I’ll be waiting by the city’s crystal stone that morning."
Silva’s party left, one of the men carrying her unconscious in his arms.
Leon remained seated, drowning in confusion and guilt, wondering if what he did was really justice... or a mistake.
"I don’t know how to feel."
Cassandra had told them everything—what she saw, what she remembered. She made it clear: Agares didn’t destroy Faircallen. Someone else did.
Even so, she didn’t know who. Her memory ended the moment the Thread of Fate was cut—just when Agares arrived at the ruined village.
Cassandra knelt and hugged Leon, gently cupping his face, their eyes locking together.
"Forget about it. You need rest."
Looking into Cassandra’s teary eyes softened Leon’s heart. She was right. Too many things had happened today—it was exhausting.
In the end, Leon and his party left the area in front of Milenia’s estate.
What they didn’t know was that Agares had been watching them all along, standing behind the glass wall—fully recovered. Aoi sat on his shoulder like usual.
"They really believed Milenia’s plan," Aoi said.
"Milenia is the ruler of this city. Of course the people will believe what she says," Agares replied.
"So, what will you do now?" Aoi asked.
Agares’s thoughts drifted back to Silva—his friend who had to suffer a painful loss just to meet him.
However, in order to maintain Agares’ status, he had to let Silva feel such loss. That was the consequence and Agares could not prevent it.
"Let’s prepare for the pet contract."
