The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 95: The Power of Trauma
Chapter 95: The Power of Trauma
***
The next day.
Milenia’s residence.
Just like they talked about the day before, Milenia looked busy preparing the items she would use, starting from gems, potions, to spare armor for Agares and enhancements for her magic staff.
Agares saw this, and Aoi looked in the same direction. Both of them stood at the open doorway, watching Milenia being busy.
This was her first time going back into a dungeon after taking a three-year break.
"You look like someone going on a trip."
"I need to prepare many things for our safety later."
He didn’t know how to react, but for someone who hadn’t explored dungeons for a long time and was starting again, maybe what Milenia was doing seemed normal to them.
"When are we going to leave?" asked Aoi.
"After Milenia is ready, we’ll go."
Aoi smiled, nodded, and agreed. Agares and Aoi continued watching carefully as Milenia prepared everything to make sure their journey would go smoothly.
From behind, specifically from the stairs below, a maid came to call Agares. She came to tell him that a blacksmith had come looking for Aoi.
"Ah, he’s here," said Agares. Milenia turned around.
"What?" she asked.
"The blacksmith from town. I asked him to make custom claw-shaped weapons for Aoi. Looks like he’s here to deliver my order."
"Oh, is that so?"
Agares patted his magic pouch and pulled out his camouflage magic earring. He immediately put it on one ear. At once, yellow light shone and covered Agares’ whole body.
This made him unrecognizable to others due to the temporary illusion effect. Even so, Aoi and Milenia already knew and could recognize Agares with the magic earring.
So they weren’t disturbed by it at all.
Agares and Aoi walked down the stairs with a maid walking beside them. They arrived at the front door of Milenia’s house.
He opened it and saw a middle-aged man, around 37 years old, standing there holding a wooden box.
"Are you Aoi?"
"She’s my younger sister. Is that her order?" asked Agares.
"Yes."
He gave the box to Agares and said goodbye. The middle-aged man clearly said that the custom weapon had already been paid. They just needed to accept it.
Agares took the wooden box and stepped inside. He sat on the long sofa in the living room and slowly opened the box.
The lid came off, and inside were two black claw-style weapons, fitting for Aoi’s hands.
Aoi became very excited. She smelled the weapon and said she didn’t really hate the scent. In fact, she liked it. This was the first weapon she had ever gotten in her life.
"Please put them on me."
The man nodded. He took the claw weapons and put them on both of Aoi’s hands. Agares saw Aoi move and walk with the weapons like normal. She looked completely comfortable.
Surprisingly, the black claw weapons disappeared without trace, enough to shock Agares.
"Don’t be too surprised, Master. I tried to make them disappear so they could blend with my form. Actually, I’m still using them on my hands," Aoi explained.
"I see? I didn’t know those claw weapons worked like that for you."
Not long after, a woman walked down the stairs to the first floor. She wasn’t carrying a backpack and was still wearing her beautiful navy-blue dress.
Milenia was ready to go explore the dungeon.
Agares looked up and smiled, clearly seeing that Milenia was ready with her equipment — and so was Aoi.
"I’m ready," Milenia said gracefully.
"Me too," Aoi said, raising her hand.
The man nodded. After everything was ready, they had to leave the city immediately.
Before leaving, Milenia wanted to leave a message with someone. She was the ruler of the city, and if she left, someone she fully trusted needed to manage things.
Milenia’s attention and thoughts were focused on Goro, a middle-aged man from the demonkin race who had lived in the city for a long time.
Until she came back, Goro would be the one handling the city. The threat from Agares was gone, and the adventurers had already returned to the surface.
Goro’s job would be much easier than Milenia’s.
When they arrived at the crystal stone, Milenia stood still with wide eyes. Her heart pounded hard — not like before. The Crystal Stone was the entrance to the dungeon.
Agares turned to her and clearly saw Milenia frozen in place, fighting the trauma in her heart. He didn’t want her to be wrapped up in that deep fear again.
It could affect her body and her health.
Slowly, he stepped closer to Milenia and held one of her hands. Agares’ touch suddenly brought Milenia back from her daze. Her eyes locked onto Agares.
"Agares?" Milenia asked softly.
"Don’t be afraid. I’m here."
"You can hold my hand whenever you feel scared."
Milenia stayed quiet, then smiled broadly and nodded in agreement. Agares also smiled, feeling relieved that Milenia was willing to listen to him.
He took his teleportation token and gave it to the crystal stone guard. Agares had already explored up to floor 74, but Milenia was different.
Her last dungeon journey was logged at floor 66. Since then, she had never explored any deeper.
Even so, Milenia knew she had to grow stronger. For three years, she had made many alchemy potions using her mage skills. She also started a prostitution business to earn money.
With that money, she could buy HP Elixirs and greatly improve her abilities. Today, among Agares and Aoi, Milenia had the highest stage and level.
Currently, Milenia was at stage 6 and level 2. That meant she had reached the peak of the noble stage, just by relying on EXP Elixirs over the past three years.
After getting approval, blue light covered all three of them. In an instant, they vanished from Midgard City and arrived in a dungeon hallway just past the boss room on floor 65.
Agares looked around and saw the door to the floor 65 boss room was still closed.
"Are we there yet?" asked Milenia, still keeping her eyes closed.
"You can open your eyes."
Milenia nodded. She slowly opened her eyes and saw the dungeon walls she feared so much — dark, damp, and cold. The trauma inside her came back.
She collapsed to the floor, her breath unsteady and her heartbeat pounding fast. Milenia lifted her hands and covered her ears, not wanting to hear the moment her friends died in front of her.
"Milenia! Wake up, Milenia!" shouted Agares.
Luckily for them, there were no monsters wandering in the dungeon hallway. All monsters and mini boss monsters were gathered in specific rooms. Even so, Milenia was still stuck in her trauma.
"AAAAAAAKKKHHHH!"
Milenia’s loud scream threw Agares and Aoi far backward. Agares reached to the side and pulled out Shadepiercer from his inventory.
He quickly stabbed the sword into the ground, giving himself protection.
"What’s happening to her?" asked Aoi.
"Her deep trauma is affecting her mind and body."
"If we let it go on, it will hurt her."
"Then what should we do?" Aoi asked.
Agares went silent, then his focus turned to his sword. That’s right! One of Shadepiercer’s buffs was the Anti-magic ability.
With that, only Agares could pass through the magic wind coming from Milenia’s body.
"I’m going to go in and save her."
