The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]-Chapter 97: I won’t be going
Hua Tianshu suddenly heard the sweet sound of bells jiggling and immediately stopped walking. His facial expression turned stiff as his eyes went out of focus.
Although Jie Fu Lian was currently avoiding Hua Tianshu, when he saw this reaction, he couldn’t help but feel a little worried and unconsciously reached out to tap the man’s shoulder but stopped mid-way.
"Shizun?" Duan Luoyang lightly clenched Hua Tianshu’s arm as he looked at the man with a worried gaze.
When Hua Tianshu finally woke up from his dazed state, he immediately frowned as he revealed, "Bai BaoShi is dead."
"Huh?" Duan Luoyang’s eyes widened in shock.
"What?!" Jie Fu Lian immediately cried out, for a second, forgetting the fact that he was avoiding the man.
Hua Tianshu clenched his jaw as he gritted out, "I just got the message from Bai YiJun."
It seemed that Bai YiJun had really finished the task that he had been assigned. Finding Bai BaoShi was probably not an easy thing to do, but since he was the leader of the information guild, it was only natural that he lived up to his reputation.
Jie Fu Lian’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he couldn’t help but ask, "How did she die?"
"Bled to death," Hua Tianshu shook his head with a sigh as he shortly replied.
"A murder?" Jie Fu Lian inquired and Hua Tianshu nodded his head as he confirmed it.
"Who killed her?" Duan Luoyang also asked, his face as pale as a blank sheet of paper.
"The Master of curses," Hua Tianshu gritted out, clenching his hand tightly in a fist.
Both Duan Luoyang and Jie Fu Lian felt a little speechless as they heard this answer.
Jie Fu Lian took a minute to calm down before he used his brain to analyze the situation and carefully asked, "What about her corpse or her grave?"
"She was found dead in a city called Shi Cheng. Since none of her blood relatives were found in time, she was not properly buried. Her body was treated the same as the corpse of a homeless person and was thrown behind the city."
Jie Fu Lian’s frown deepened as he heard this.
"Then let’s go to Shi Cheng," Duan Luoyang immediately spoke up.
Hua Tianshu shook his head with a sigh as he spoke, "No, that would not be necessary."
"Huh?"
"Let’s go back to Xiujiang."
Duan Luoyang’s eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he immediately asked, "Why?"
"In the demonic realm, all female demons are considered high-ranking demons. If she was easily killed by a master of curses, she was definitely not a high-ranking demon."
"Then what about Bai LiuXian?" Duan Luoyang titled his head as he curiously asked.
"That’s why we are going back to Xiujiang," Hua Tianshu spoke as he side-glanced at Jie Fu Lian and continued, "Since she wasn’t a demon, it is quite possible that the city head of Xiujiang is the demon."
"Huh?"
Jie Fu Lian and Hua Tianshu had already discussed this theory before and hence, when Hua Tianshu said this, Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he agreed.
"Bai YiJun is not a demon but Bai LiuXian was a half-demon. They had the same father but a different mother so naturally, we would think that Bai LiuXian’s mother was a demon. However, now that we know it was not her, the only other suspect left is Bai Guanyu." Jie Fu Lian patiently spoke up as he explained, "We had already suspected this to be the case but we needed to know for sure whether Bai BaoShi was a demon or not, and now it seems that we have that evidence."
"You mean to say...?" Duan Luoyang muttered out a question that he didn’t even dare complete it.
"Bai Guanyu had been possessed by a demon," Hua Tianshu spoke up as he confirmed, "The possessed demon needed the life energy of a human to keep up his disguise but if the demon was strong, the life energy of a normal human would not be enough for him. In order to not bring too much attention to himself, he married a woman of unknown status who was known to be beautiful, but as we know, Bai BaoShi was not just a woman with beauty. She was a talented rogue cultivator who was powerful, intelligent, and kind. He wanted to show everyone that he married her because of her appearance but in reality, he married her because of her strong life energy."
Hua Tianshu took out three transportation talismans as he spoke, "Let’s go meet Bai Guanyu and make sure whether this theory is correct or not."
"We aren’t walking anymore?" Duan Luoyang asked, feeling a bit shocked.
"It would be best if we get there as fast as possible," Hua Tianshu replied without missing a beat, "In any case, we’ve been walking for two hours but haven’t come across signs of any nearby towns. If we keep walking like this, we might need to sleep in this forest."
Duan Luoyang felt very delighted and thankful as he saw the three transportation talismans. Although he wasn’t tired, he was certainly bored from walking with these two awkward men who were suddenly acting as if they didn’t even know each other.
"I won’t be going." Jie Fu Lian hesitated a little before he spoke up.
Both Hua Tianshu and Duan Luoyang looked at the man in confusion as they heard this.
"Uncle Fu, what do you mean?"
"I have somewhere else I need to go. Don’t worry, I’ll come back."
Hua Tianshu frowned, "Then let me come with you."
Jie Fu Lian shook his head as he spoke, "No, you have to go to Xiujiang."
"We can go together."
Jie Fu Lian took a step back as he once again shook his head, "Hua Tianshu, I have a lot to think about. Just trust me. I’ll come back."
Hua Tianshu frowned as he heard this but although he still wanted to stop the man, he couldn’t say anything as a response.
Duan Luoyang looked between the two and felt like he had suddenly turned into a child that had to pick a side between his parents.
"Uncle Fu, make sure to come back soon," After careful deliberation, Duan Luoyang sighed as he spoke, "We’ll be waiting for you."
Jie Fu Lian softly smiled as he heard this and nodded his head, "I’ll be back before you know it." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
He took a few more steps back and turned around before running away, disappearing into the forest.
Hua Tianshu clenched his fist and once again felt the fear that he thought he would never have to experience again—it was the fear of losing Jie Fu Lian and not being able to do anything about it.
Duan Luoyang looked at Hua Tianshu with a sense of pity as he tried to reassure him, "Shizun, he said he’ll be back. Just trust him."
Hua Tianshu did not give a response to this and kept staring in the direction where Jie Fu Lian had disappeared off to.
"Shizun, we also need to get going."
Duan Luoyang lightly pulled at Hua Tianshu’s sleeve.
Hua Tianshu opened his mouth to say anything but hesitated for a minute before he finally asked, "What if he disappears again?"
Duan Luoyang tilted his head in confusion as he heard this question. He was unaware of the history shared by the two and so naturally, he did not know what his Shizun was talking about, but he knew that Hua Tianshu needed reassurance.
"Just have some faith in him," Duan Luoyang sighed as he patted Hua Tianshu’s back, "If he doesn’t come back, we’ll go and find him."
Tears started trailing down Hua Tianshu’s eyes and Duan Luoyang suddenly felt dumbfounded.
"Shizun... Are you c-crying?"
Hua Tianshu bit his bottom lip as he tried his best to control his emotions but the expression on his face only turned worse.
Duan Luoyang gulped as he ran out of ideas on what to do or say.
At this moment, he couldn’t help but miss Hua Meifang who would probably know best how to deal with a crying Hua Tianshu.
"Shizun, are you alright?" Duan Luoyang reluctantly asked although he could see that the man was not doing alright, "Uncle Fu already promised to return, didn’t he? Just have a little faith in him. Why are you already crying like this?"
More tears started pouring out of his eyes and Duan Luoyang felt as if he had only worsened the situation.
Like a little child that was complaining to his mother, Hua Tianshu opened his mouth and loudly whined, "He called me an acquaintance!"
Because of the man’s loud crying, Duan Luoyang could hardly determine what had been said.
"An acquaintance?" Duan Luoyang tilted his head in confusion as he repeated.
Hua Tianshu cried even louder as he nodded his head, "He ignored my confession and called me a mere acquaintance! I’m not even his enemy anymore! I’m just a mere acquaintance!"
"..." It seemed that since Uncle Fu was no longer around, Hua Tianshu could no longer be bothered to keep it together and ended up having a mental breakdown.
Duan Luoyang waited for Hua Tianshu to finish crying his heart out and this lasted for a little more than half an hour.
