Chapter 83 - The End Before the End

The battlefield burned red.

Bodies clashed. Screams echoed across Lavera. The skies bled ash, and the ground trembled with sorrow.

Matt stood in the center of it all—his hands glowing with fire, his chest heaving. His eyes searched desperately for the others through the haze of blood and smoke.

"Zeze!" he shouted.

No response.

"Gabriel?!"

Only the clash of metal answered him.

He turned—and there she was.

Vaneshka.

Her long crimson hair floated like smoke, her veins pulsing with blood magic, her blade dripping with death. Her smile curved slowly as she approached him.

"Found you," she whispered. "You've been running long enough, Matt."

Matt's eyes narrowed. "You won't touch anyone else."

She tilted her head mockingly. "Then stop me."

He raised both palms—and a wall of flame burst between them, splitting the earth.

She leapt through it effortlessly, laughing.

Matt growled and hurled another blast, the flames screaming in the wind. She twisted around it like a shadow, vanishing—

—and reappeared behind him.

Her hand dug deep into his back.

Blood spilled from his lips.

"N-no..." he gasped.

She leaned in, whispering into his ear, "You always tried so hard to protect them. So full of love. So... soft."

He collapsed to his knees. "They're... my family..."

Vaneshka stood above him, her hands dripping with his blood. "Then die for them."

Matt fell onto the battlefield, his flames flickering out.

"MATT!!!" Zeze's scream cracked the sky as she fought through a swarm of knights, her eyes wide in horror.

Gabriel saw the body. So did Margo.

Xyrille's wings folded behind her as she hovered over the battlefield, her face crumpling.

Margo dropped to her knees beside him, shaking.

"No... no, no, no—Matt! Please wake up! Please—!" she sobbed, grabbing his hand, covered in blood and ash.

Gabriel stood beside her, silent, shaking. He dropped his sword and fell to his knees.

"He saved us," he whispered. "He..."

Zeze walked up to Vaneshka slowly, her blades soaked. Her face was stone.

"You shouldn't have done that."

Vaneshka smiled. "He died bravely. Be proud."

"I'm not proud. I'm going to rip your heart out."

Behind her, Xyrille touched down and stared at Matt's body. A wind moved her dark hair.

"...This was never supposed to happen," she whispered.

Gabriel stood. "He gave everything."

Margo wiped her face, red with tears. "Then we give more."

They turned toward Vaneshka. A silence fell over the field.

And then... the Saviors of Creation charged—hearts broken, eyes blazing.

For Matt.

For Ella.

For everything.

The skies split.

A roar older than time echoed across the land as the Blood Titan rose. Taller than mountains. Taller than clouds. Its face was hollow. Its veins were rivers of the fallen. Its heart beat with Vaneshka's laughter.

She hovered beneath it, glowing with crimson power. Her blade, forged from the soul of the slain, spun in her hand like a curse.

"LET THE WORLD BOW!" she screamed.

The titan raised the sword — its weight caused the entire crust of the planet to scream.

Gabriel, Zeze, Xyrille, Margo, and the broken remains of the Saviors stood frozen.

"RUN!" Zeze shouted. "WE CAN'T STOP THAT!"

Suddenly—Lydia emerged from the shadows, her wand-sword aiming for Zeze's back.

A flash.

A scream.

Blood sprayed.

Lydia gasped.

Xyrille stood behind her, her black wings extended wide, her eyes burning. Her sword was deep in Lydia's spine.

"You don't touch her," Xyrille said coldly.

Lydia crumbled to the earth, lifeless.

But there was no time to mourn. freewebnoveℓ.com

The Titan brought its sword down.

The ground cracked. Forests shattered like glass. Oceans boiled. Mountains crumbled. The kingdom of Lavera was reduced to red dust.

Vaneshka laughed.

"No... no...!" Margo sobbed, holding Gabriel's hand as the world split beneath their feet.

Xyrille closed her eyes, her wings glowing. She reached into her soul—into the last piece of her father's love—and ripped open a swirling portal in the air. Blue. Safe. Pure.

"There!" she screamed. "Go now!"

Zeze grabbed Margo's arm. "Come on—!"

Gabriel didn't move.

"I'm not leaving," he said quietly.

"What?!" Margo turned to him, her eyes wild. "No. No, you are NOT doing this—Gabriel, please—"

"I'm going to end her. I'm going to end this."

Tears streamed down Margo's face. "We can find another way, we always—please, don't do this... I can't lose you too..."

Gabriel cupped her face.

"I love you," he whispered.

She shook her head violently. "Then stay. Please—"

He kissed her.

A kiss that tasted of dust, of stars, of everything they had survived.

Their foreheads touched.

"Run," he whispered. "Live. For all of us."

"No..."

Xyrille grabbed Margo. Zeze tried too. But the ground shook again. The portal trembled.

Gabriel stepped back, sword in hand.

"GO!"

The portal swallowed them.

And closed.

Silence.

Gabriel turned toward the crimson sky. Toward Vaneshka. Toward the titan.

He took one final breath.

"This ends now."
