The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 426: Engagement chaos (16)
Shi Ningkai clenched his fists as the crowd around him murmured whispers of his involvement. He looked older than Bingqing remembered. The signature swagger was still there along with the mocking glint in his eyes, but his hair had streaks of gray now, and his once handsome eyes now held bitterness in them.
"I knew you would be here today...Boss."
A wave of silence and confusion fell.
Boss?
Yang Bingqing didn’t flinch by that term of address. Her calm gaze looked the same as before. "I asked you to answer me. Tell me it isn’t you and I will believe you."
He smiled wryly. "We have come a little too far for you to believe me, haven’t we?"
"Were you the one who helped the Hou family traffic women for House Jielun?"
He said nothing.
"Were you or were you not?"
"I see the right hand man is also here," he smiled at Xie Zi Han.
Xie Zi Han, who was trying to make his presence as least noticeable as possible was now under the spotlight. He threw a hardened stare at him, clenching his jaw.
Yang Bingqing narrowed her eyes.
"What if I say yes?"
Her eyelids trembled for a moment. "If I had known this would happen, I would have finished you years ago."
Nobody understood what was happening. Even Zhuo Meihui was looking at them, failing to understand their conversation. Yet she saw her son, Syaoran, barely fazed by it. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
A bitter laugh escaped from his throat. "You talk like you are some saint now, Boss. Don’t forget who built She with you. Who took the beatings when you wanted to rise above the men. Who made sure every rival who tried to touch you ended up six feet under. And now you stand there, acting like you are disgusted by me?"
A wave of gasps resounded throughout. Shi Ningkai’s words shook everybody to their core.
Built She?
Yang Cheng stared at her back in a long silence. He then glanced at Xie Zi Han, whose fingers were crumpled into a fist. He alternated his gaze between him and Yang Bingqing and all of a sudden...his wedding day flashed in his memory. He has invited him to his wedding but now he wondered from whose side did he actually attend it?
His best friend had worked under his wife at some point in his life.
His wife was the Boss of an infamous gang he had heard a lot about, but whose leader was always shrouded in mystery.
’There is something I cannot tell you about me too.’
I see...
From the beginning to the end, Mingshen saw the gears within his father change. The light in his eyes flicked with the realization of certain conclusions dawning upon him as if he was reminiscing the past. It was like he linked two and two together and finally figured out the result.
But that was all.
The realization only gleamed for a moment before Yang Cheng’s gaze went back to how it was always before - plain and silent.
I thought he would show at least some reaction but he is always true to his nature. Nothing fazes him.
But Mingshen was. Not in the sense of disappointment but a sense of exhilaration had filled him.
Mom was an assassin? Why the hell did she never tell me this!?
Jia sneakily pinched his waist, silently glaring at him.
I know you are thrilled about all this, but at least try to hide it in front of all the guests!
She felt her own heart hammering like crazy. She has been chasing after She this entire time, yet the person who could have helped her the most was right before her eyes all this time calling her future daughter-in-law?
Jia tried to match the lethal Yang Bingqing as an assassin and the bubbly Yang Bingqing she knew as Yang Cheng’s wife and Mingshen’s mother. The truth of her being the former gang leader almost spun her with dizziness.
Yang Bingqing stared at him, as if this was the first time she was meeting this man.
"Because I am disgusted," she snapped, her voice cutting through the air. "You used my name and the reputation of our gang to help the Hou family’s filth! Do you have any idea what they did to those women, Ningkai?" Her voice thundered coldly. "What kind of a man Jielun is-"
"Don’t you dare act righteous now" he barked, his gaze darkening. "You think you are better than me because you disbanded the gang? It’s all because of you that I did what I did! Don’t try to shed off responsibility and blame me, Boss," he angrily laughed. "You are the reason behind everything that happened!"
A punch landed on his cheek and he stumbled back hard. A cut formed on his skin, blood trickling down it as he peered into Xie Zi Han’s cold, piercing gaze.
"I don’t give a fucking damn what you think or what you don’t think about Boss, but for me, she is still my Boss. So watch your mouth, Ningkai. You betrayed our code, so don’t go blaming other people for your sins."
"Why can I not?" Shi Ningkai trembled, enraged. "I stayed loyal to She, loyal to Boss all that time. We went through thick and thin together and had the same blood on our hands, yet she..." he clenched his jaw, "she disbanded the gang all because of one man! All because of that one man she got married to!"
It was now Yang Cheng who suddenly fell under the spotlight, but who barely flinched with the accusations. He did frown over Shi Ningkai screaming at his wife and pointing his fingers at her for no reason.
Yang Bingqing stared at him. "What are you even-"
"Talking about?" Shi Ningkai gritted his teeth. "Yeah of course, you don’t know what I am talking about, Boss because you never bothered to look at me...look at me and how much I loved you all this time!"
She froze.
"Do you think I was loyal to you only because I respected you? Do you think I put my life on the line in every mission simply because you were my Boss? No! I stayed by your side, I protected you from all harm because I loved you! Yet you threw my feelings away in an instant like some garbage and married a man you absolutely knew nothing about! All this time, I was there by your side day and night and you fell for some stranger you had barely met an hour ago? How is that supposed to make me feel!"
