The Devil's Warrior Queen-Chapter 407: Chaos
Chapter 407: Chaos
Although, the soldiers had fallen dead, Falka still remained in the same kneeling position with her eyes closed, and a fiery essence emanating from her. Her locks danced like wild fire behind her and the air pulsating around her writhed and coiled like flaming tendrils.
As she remained in her unmoving state, the trio approached her glowing form, but kept a safe distance from her.
"What happened to her?" Vlad muttered.
"She couldn’t control her chaos, so it controlled her." Ari remarked as she studied the girl in her state.
"Her powers, not chaos." Ares corrected.
"And now she’s in her chaos state because you refrained from doing anything. If we had intervened earlier this wouldn’t be happening." Ari snapped angrily at Ares, but he was rather impassive.
"I refrained from holding her back and instead, paved the way for her to wield her powers. She’s not weak." Ares retorted in a calm voice.
"Well, now she’s unconscious and it’s either she snaps out of it or she remains in that state for a long time." Ari pointed out in a firm tone, her brows drawn together in displeasure.
"We should try to wake her up or something then." Vlad suggested.
"Any slight contact against her body provokes her powers, so you better stay away from her body or then you’ll end up like the soldiers." Ari warned as she pulled Vlad away.
"Right." Vlad muttered as he shifted back in wary.
"I’ll wake her up." Ares said.
"Wait!" Ari warned with widened eyes. "Even if you’re immortal, you’ll still get badly scorched, it might take a long time to heal. Her powers are beyond anyone’s control." Ari said warily.
"I won’t get scorched and if I did, I’ll heal anyway." Ares remarked and without waiting for her reply, he approached the girl.
"Just a few minutes of meeting his mate, he already wants to die for her." Vlad muttered.
Ares kneeled in front of her, he could feel the blazing essence of her powers pulsating from within. Without hesitation, he extended his hand toward her slowly.
Immediately his hand came into contact with her skin, her fiery essence blazed wildly. The spectacle created a surge of blazing sensation that engulfed the vicinity, but in the next second, her fiery essence dimmed and she returned to normal.
For a moment, Falka had been in a trance like state where she couldn’t feel anything, but a flaming sensation within her and in the next moment, it felt as though she was dipped into an icy lake and she could finally feel again.
Immediately Falka regained her consciousness and opened her eyes, a pair of cold silver ones were boring into hers. She gasped in shock and stumbled backward.
Falka’s breathing came in erratic gasps as she moved away from the unfamiliar faces hovering around her. Her gaze dropped on the silver eyed young man that she had caught staring earlier, he possessed a kind of beauty that could terrify souls as well as capture hearts.
With hair as dark as the midnight sky cascading in sleek waves to brush against broad shoulders, and eyes that gleamed with an otherworldly light, the man’s appearance was nothing short of mesmerizing. His striking silver eyes, like pools of liquid mercury, held a depth of wisdom and mystery that drew the gaze of all who beheld them, leaving them spellbound in their wake.
But it was not just his striking features that set the man apart, it was the sheer power and presence that radiated from his lean, muscular frame. Every line and curve of his body was honed to perfection, a testament to the strength and agility that lay within. His towering height cast a long shadow over her, commanding attention and respect.
And beside him were two more unfamiliar faces, a girl with ashen hair and charming purple eyes and then a young man, with snow White hair and strange pair of eyes, blue and red. As she observed them, she noticed they were around the same age as her.
Falka’s face was clouded with confusion on what had transpired as her eyes narrowed between the scorched corpses and the unfamiliar faces.
Regardless of who they were, she was highly alert. Scrambling up on her feet, she aimed her hairpin at them, eyes toughened on them.
"Who are you? Did you do this to the soldiers?" Falka asked in a demanding tone, her chest heaving heavily.
"We’re not here to harm you, there’s no need to be alarmed." Ari said, choosing her words carefully.
"I don’t care. Who the fuck are you and what are you doing here? Did you kill the soldiers? What happened just now?" Falka questioned eagerly.
"We are from Voltaire and East Ravka’s is Ari’s hometown, so we came to pay a visit." Vlad rushed in before either of them could get a word.
Ari gave him a knowing smile. Telling her they came for her would have been quite suspicious, so it was best to scrape that part out and use their wits either way to make her leave with them, thereby gaining her trust. After all, she had nowhere else to go, so she was sure to accept their help.
Her eyes dilated in contemplation "Voltaire?" She breathed out in surprise as she scrutinized them from head to toe.
"You don’t look anything like them, you look...different." She pointed out at their distinct features.
Falka had read that the Voltaire Kingdom was inhabiyed by Vampires and humans only, but on seeing the strangers who claimed to be from there, their features didn’t correspond to that of an inhabitant which only made her more skeptical.
"You could say that. We are different." Ares remarked and her attention was directed on him, the strange man she felt oddly attracted to despite him being a stranger or perhaps it were his radiating silver eyes that looked like a thousand burning stars resided within them, like a charm to her soul, but there was a sensation more phenomenal that she could feel between them, like a string pulling her to him, but in a world that had only been vile and treacherous to her, she resorted to burying the vulnerable side of her, the side that was drawn to him, the side that wanted to explore the strange sensations.
Falka never wanted to be exploited again, never to be trapped again, never to be betrayed again.
"Then what are you?" Falka demanded as she aimed her hairpin at Ares, unwavering and determined.
Ares could see the fire burning in her eyes, the fire of rage which had consumed her from within. But he could also see the cracks of a broken soul, the vulnerable cracks she tried to hide in a bid to survive the harshness and horrible nature of the world.
He saw the eagerness of her will to live, her survival instincts denying the allure of their bond and her resistance was rather yielding. It seemed as though her revenge blackened heart and stern will to finally live was stronger than their newfound bond. She was not just his mate, she was a girl consumed by rage and moulded into a perfect sculpture of revenge.
"I’m a demon and a vampire, what are you?" Ares said, his tone effortlessly drawled as he waited for her answer.
Falka’s brows creased, her eyes darting around as she pondered on whether to tell them her true nature or not. Finally, after a moment of pondering, she spoke "I’m Falka, just a human." She lied and proceeded to walk away.
"Wait! Are you leaving?" Ari called after her and Falka halted, taken aback.
"Why? Do we have any business? No. Moreover I’m curious on what happened to the soldiers but I don’t care anymore, so I’ll just be on my way." Falka intoned with a nonchalant attitude before proceeding with her way.
"We could tell you what happened, if you’re still interested that is." Ares said as he cast her a glance.
Falka halted as she looked back at him. She stayed silent for a second before saying "Okay, what happened then, pretty boy?" She crossed her arms over her chest with a bored look on her face.
"Your chaos happened, but you don’t remember because you were in a trance state." Ares explained with a straight face, but her expression was indifferent to his as she gasped in shock and disbelief.
"That’s impossible. I c-can’t wield my powers, I can’t even wield it properly yet you think I did this?" Falka stuttered as she shook her head.
"I don’t think you did, I know cause we saw you, so I wonder why you lied about being human." Ares muttered nonchalantly.
"I have my reasons, I can’t trust anyone. I’ll be on my way now." Falka said in a hurried tone as she started to walk away.
"Wait! I’m a witch, I could teach you how to wield your powers." Ari blurted out and Falka immediately halted on her steps, obviously tempted by the proposal.
Slowly, she veered around to face them, her face etched with seriousness and doubt, yet a flicker of hope danced in her eyes. "And who are you?"
"I’m Ari, daughter of the Royal diviner in Voltaire." Ari announced.
Falka smirked "So your mother is a witch, what about the other two? Your bodyguards?" She quipped sarcastically.
"Vlad is half demon half vampire, also half angel, his father is the King’s right hand man and Ares is the King’s son." Ari explained.
Falka’s attention dropped on Vlad with dead eyes as she blurted out "No wonder Vlad has pretty eyes, in my kingdom they’d see you as a freak, like me."
"He definitely looks like a demon prince. I heard your grandfather is the Devil, I think we might be related, they call me the Devil’s daughter and curse." Falka said as her eyes narrowed down to Ares.
"Demons can only bear offsprings with their fated mates, so I doubt you’re certainly Lucifer’s daughter." Vlad mentioned.
"That’s refreshing, anyways I’ll be off now." Falka said with a finality as she walked away.
"She’s a mixture of crazy and crazy, she didn’t even spare you a glance, Ares. Sure she’s your mate?" Vlad said with a chuckle.
"She is, she’s only resisting." Ares said in a flat tone.
"We have to gain her trust, she still doesn’t trust us." Ari said.
As Falka moved a few distance away from them, she caught a glimpse of the trio emerging in front of her.
"And what do you want?" Falka asked in a stern tone, as she sighed impatiently.
"We just want to help. We’ve heard of a girl locked in the council house and you fit the description quite well. Noticing how you were being dragged away by soldiers, it seems like you are the girl." Ari remarked.
"And so what? I don’t need your help or anyone else’s. A lot of people said that to me and they’ve done a lot of helping already." Falka snarled, her eyes burning with an untamed rage.
