Chapter 127: Tournament 8

Damon raised his hand, which slightly trembled form the last clash where his sword met with Calum’s hand. ’Sure enough, his physical strength is monstrous.’ Damon thought, before placing his sword to his side.

"First art: Blooming spring."

Like magic, well it literally was magic, he channeled a flood of aether into his sword, and a massive amount of water elements condensed around his sword, and a tsunami was created out of thin air in an instant.

At the stands, Rose’s eyes widened. ’He managed to deepen his comprehension of the first art this much?’ She thought, half in awe, and half in disbelief. The Darkfell royal sword style was closely tied to the weather, or more precisely, the four season.

The first art, blooming spring took inspiration from spring, which meant, during rainfall, and it also when flowers bloomed. The second art, summer blaze took inspiration from summer, particularly the harsh heat of the summer. The third art, Fall, took inspiration from autumn, or more precisely, the fierce winds of autumn. The last art meanwhile, took inspiration from winter. It’s endless chill, and It’s icy winds.

Apart from the normally advancing in their mastery, a practitioner could choose to comprehend further one of the arts or more, thus gaining some degree of control towards the element associated with the technique.

Rose herself never bothered to do so, after all, why would she bother when those comprehended techniques could never be as powerful as her innate abilities. She considered it a waste of time.

The same was the case for Emmett, but even though he was surprised, he didn’t show it outwardly. All that changed with him, was the ghost of a smile tugging at his lips.

Seeing the tsunami advance towards him, Calum raised both arms, before clapping them together.

"Dragon totem: Vaccum clap."

The clap produced a devastating shockwave that crashed with the tsunami, severely reducing it’s strength and size. But Calum still couldn’t escape the rest, which soon caught him in it’s drowning tides.

When the wave from the attack subsided, the entire field had been drowned. The water reached up to both Damon and Calum’s shins. And that was when they were standing on high ground, and not the parts that had sunken.

"You will have to be more serious if you want to land a hit on me." Calum said as water dripped from his now soaked hair.

He stomped his foot down, cracking the whole stadium ground, and sending the ambient water splashing everywhere.

Calum’s aether condensed and spread out to cover the whole area, making the aether sluggish in the area.

Although this would obviously affect him too, the biggest advantage of this would be that Damon’s long-range attacks wouldn’t be as effective as before.

"Third art: Fall." Damon placed his sword on the ground, shattered g it once more, which made all the water from his earlier attack escape through the cracks, but also destabilized Calum’s footing. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

It also showed, Damon’s attack was considerably slower than before, giving Calum more time to act. If Damon wanted to deal any serious damage, he’d be left with no other alternative than to get close to Calum. And that was the exact moment calum was waiting for. He would show how superior he was in close combat.

’Right, I just need you to come closer.’

Seeing no luck with the last attack, Damon decided to engage scaled boy in close combat. He flickered towards Calum, the air producing a whistling sound from the pure speed at which his body moved.

But to his shock, the moment he reached Calum, in a surprising show of speed, Calum sidestepped his swing, cocked his arm back, and bypassed Damon’s defenses, landing a direct hit to Damon with devastating force.

BOOM!

Damon flew away like a cannon ball from the impact of that punch, hitting the stands in an instant. That single attack shattered his internal organs and cracked his ribs, causing him to vomit a mouthful of blood.

Damon wasn’t using his ’Mirage steps’ at that moment, so he was taken aback by the sudden increase in Calum’s speed, and that single millisecond of carelessness cost him a lot.

If it were someone else, or the him from his past life, they would have already fainted from the sheer pain, but Damon gritted his teeth and slowly got up from the ground. This pain was nothing compared to that of what he felt when he consumed the golden liquid from the chalice, back at the island of black sands.

For the time being, Calum stood there in the distance and didn’t attack; he had a feeling that if he attacked at this moment, Damon would pull out something very dangerous. Even he didn’t know why he felt like that.

Damon’s eyes stared at Calum for a second, then increased the amount of aether he utilized fro aether reinforcement.

[Mirage steps!]

After buffing himself quite a bit, Damon placed his sword around his waist and took his stance. "You’re quite tough for a third rate villain, but I guess you just lucked out on the genetic code. Even though, let’s see if my next move is strong enough to break through your defense." Damon wiped the blood from his lips.

Before Calum could answer, or even blink, Damon’s sword turned a sinister red in an instant. [Second art: Summer blaze.]

While it might have looked like Damon wasn’t training, one couldn’t be more wrong. Damon had always been training, correction, Damon always is training. Even at this moment where he was in a fight, Damon was still somewhere else training.

His reflections never quit unless they ran out of aether and faded away. And all his reflections trained in, were the techniques Damon practiced, trying to take their mastery and comprehension to a greater level. If it weren’t for that, how could Damon increase the mastery of techniques that could take years to upgrade in mastery, in such a short time?

Also, Damon had no plans to use his reflections in this fight. He was going to win it using his main body alone. The only reason he had even used one against Levi was because he had underestimated the guy, and was caught off guard. But for Calum, Damon had been going all out from the start, so there was no need for that.

He had much stronger opponents that would require the use of his reflections after all.

Damon slashed towards the ground, and a blood red lacerating sword mark appeared on the ground. The red sword mark instantly spread all around and directly before Calum in a matter of seconds.

Even Calum was taken aback by that, but he still flickered backwards, escaping the geyser of lava that erupted from the sword mark.

’What?’ Calum stared, gobsmacked. ’He could do that?’

Damon’s figure blurred in a series of afterimages, and in an instant, appeared directly on Calum’s right side.

"Second art: Summer blaze."

Damon swung his sword in a horizontal motion, and Calum immediately covered himself with aether and enhanced his aether reinforcement to defend himself from that attack.

But it useless.

The red sword strike barely scratched Calum’s scaled skin, before he tried to jump back to dodge it, but Damon was simply faster. Even though, Damon didn’t follow. He wanted Calum to see for himself, that small scratch was enough.

In the blink of an eye, the seemingly small scratch instantly widened to a large burning lacerating wound, and spread across Calum’s torso. And worse, it was still spreading. He had to force himself to ignore the pain and prevent himself from shouting on top of his lungs. He condensed his aether to fight off the invading aether around his sound, before he finally stopped it from spreading.

It only took three seconds. But for someone like Damon, three seconds were more than enough.

"Third art: Fall."

When Calum was still focusing more on containing that spreading wound by focusing his aether, Damon seized the opportunity, he burst into a series of afterimages, and his sword directly struck Calum multiple times, creating many such lacerating wounds on his body, rendering Calum’s act to contain the previous wound useless.

Blood spurted out, but turned to steam before it hit the ground. Damon’s sword then blurred towards Calum’s right hand.

Blood spurted out of that severed arm like crazy, but just like before, turned to steam; this was the first time Calum had gotten so badly injured in his entire life.

’Ao this is how I lose?’ He thought as his vision began to blur.

Both youngsters stood silent in the utterly destroyed field, before one of the youngsters swayed for a moment, and fell face first to the ground.

"DAMON DARKFELL WINS!"
