Chapter 615: Chapter 615: Visiting to Ask for Hand in Marriage (2)_1

Pei Qin and Mo Heng brought Jiujiu back home, and they found Pei Qian just rinsed her face with cold water, fiercely gargling. Seeing them return, her little face instantly stiffened.

"Oh my! The lotus lanterns on Bear River are so romantic and charming! Which young master is so thoughtful!?" Pei Qin said while handing Jiujiu over to the wet nurse to drink some water and then sat down in the courtyard, calling for someone to bring her a bowl of chilled mung bean jelly.

Lv Chun and Hong Xia quickly brought out the chilled mung bean jelly and mung bean soup.

"Eat less cold stuff," Mo Heng reminded her. Her special days were about to start soon.

"After seeing those lotus lanterns on Bear River, my eyes dazzled and my heart bubbled with envy. I just need a bowl of jelly to cool down!" Pei Qin sighed again.

The heat just subsided from Pei Qian’s little face, but now it burned up again, her shame so intense that she wished she could vanish.

After drinking half a bowl of mung bean soup, Mo Heng saw that she had finished half a bowl of the chilled jelly. He reached out and snatched it away, "No more for you."

"But I still have half a bowl left..." Pei Qin protested with her spoon in her mouth.

Mo Heng pulled the spoon from her mouth and finished the remaining half bowl of mung bean jelly himself.

The maids, including Lv Chun and Hong Xia, blushed and looked down, full of envy. Such a handsome husband, and so good to the young madam, even eating what she left without disdain, they still envied the third young miss.

Pei Qin rolled her eyes at Mo Heng and after he finished, she took a few sips of the mung bean soup.

Pei Wendong, Chang Yonglin, and Xiao Yong, who had been out, also returned home. The three glanced at the atmosphere in the house and their eyes darted to Pei Qian’s face, obviously aware that the lotus lanterns on Bear River were Yang Boyan’s way of courting Pei Qian.

"Let’s all turn in early today! Get up early tomorrow!" Pei Qin told them they didn’t need to study or practice their handwriting and should take a break occasionally.

"I’ll flip through two pages of my book before sleeping," Pei Wendong responded, wanting to ask Pei Qian what was going on but not daring to broach the subject.

Chang Yonglin, thick-skinned, grinned and said, "Sister Qin! Those lotus lanterns are all for confession of love! What a great idea!"

"Great my foot!" Pei Qin glared at him and shoved him back into his room.

Seeing that her sister didn’t say anything else, Pei Qian headed straight back to the rear courtyard, feeling somewhat at a loss and torn. Her elder sister only joked those few words but said nothing else. Was she against Fang Liuming’s marriage proposal and therefore didn’t speak ill of Yang Boyan?

When she went back to her room and sat down, Lv Chun came in from outside, "Third young miss! A young master Yang outside has sent this for you!"

Upon seeing it, Pei Qian noticed it was the Colored Glaze Flower Lantern she had thrown away, and her face reddened involuntarily.

Lv Chun, seeing her reaction, placed the flower lantern on the table and quietly withdrew.

Pei Qian called her back, "Return the lantern to him! I don’t want it!"

Complying, Lv Chun took the lantern away obediently.

She returned shortly, "Young Master Yang has already left; there’s no one outside anymore."

So the lantern was put back on the table again.

All night long, the Colored Glaze Flower Lantern, like Yang Boyan’s eyes, seemed to watch her, making her restless and unable to sleep.

The next day she woke up with two big dark circles under her eyes, which had threads of red in them.

The cook woman and maids started preparing breakfast.

Pei Qin had already been up for a while, practicing martial arts and sweating profusely. Seeing Pei Qian just getting up and after taking a shower, she called her for an outing, "Let’s see what breakfast we can buy on the streets today! Go buy some!"

Breakfast was being prepared at home, and it wasn’t a market day, so there were only a few stalls selling food, which were not very delicious. Pei Qian wondered, and still followed her outside, "Why did you get up so early today?"

"To exercise, of course!" replied Pei Qin.

But that was still too early. Was it because of Yang Boyan yesterday...
