The Enhanced Doctor-Chapter 669 No Coincidence, No Story
Whether it was Liu Banxia or Qiaoqiao, or even Tang Dou lounging on the sofa watching the excitement, it was all a brand-new experience.
Anyway, Liu Banxia now stayed by Qiaoqiao's side constantly, practically inseparable. Even Tang Dou watched with some puzzlement. It had never seen someone so clingy, even clingier than itself!
Liu Banxia was just wondering what kind of fruit platter to cut for Qiaoqiao when his phone rang.
Seeing it was Wang Chao, he slapped his forehead. "Chao, does Auntie have time?"
"She just messaged me. I'll send you the location in a bit. Just get there by 12 o'clock. No rush, I reckon it'll be good if my mom can make it by 12:15," Wang Chao said. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Alright, thanks," Liu Banxia said.
"Why be so polite with me? I can't help you directly anyway; at most, I can offer some advice. That's all for now, I still have to see patients. It looks like there are quite a few today." After Wang Chao finished, he hung up.
"Boss, do you want to go out for a spin with me, or rest at home?" Liu Banxia looked at Qiaoqiao.
"I might as well go out. I've been cooped up at home these past few days, and it's been completely boring," Qiaoqiao said.
"Okay, we'll both go. It'll seem more formal that way," Liu Banxia said with a laugh.
"Yesterday you said you'd definitely take me, and today you're asking *if* I want to go," Qiaoqiao rolled her eyes at him.
"Wasn't I just afraid you'd be too lazy to move? Things are different now. You're the boss, so you have to prioritize the bigger picture," Liu Banxia said seriously.
"Alright, Wang Chao sent the location. Let me see... Not too far, we can get there in just over an hour. It's not a holiday today, so there won't be too much traffic. We can stay home a little longer."
"Tang Dou, you're on house-watching duty this afternoon, okay? We're going out. We'll see if there's anything tasty when we come back and bring some for you. Still want some beef?"
Lounging Tang Dou lifted its head to look at him, then at the door. Seeing he hadn't moved, it rested its head back on its paws.
"Why are you teasing it? Do you think Tang Dou can help with the baby in the future? Aren't there lots of videos online of small animals taking care of kids?" Qiaoqiao said.
"It should be about right. It seems small animals are very tolerant of children. Take when we first met Doudou, for instance. He would casually grab at it, but Tang Dou never got angry," Liu Banxia said.
"That's good. By then, Tang Dou's puppies should be quite big. We can get a little cart, put our baby in it, and have Tang Dou's puppies pull the cart. HAHA... That should be fun," Qiaoqiao said, growing happier as she spoke.
Liu Banxia glanced at Tang Dou. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the puppies in its belly. They weren't even born yet, and their job description was already set.
You couldn't assume Qiaoqiao was just joking. Once she got an idea like this, after the baby was born, she would definitely follow through whenever she remembered it.
This was a rare moment of rest. Liu Banxia had thought it would last a while longer, but after they chatted quietly for a bit, the alarm on his phone went off.
"It's okay, we can go have a meal first, then continue chatting when we get back," Liu Banxia said.
"We still have to go to Brother Qiu's place when we get back. Look at you, insisting on being a lowly Chief Resident, not even coming home at night," Qiaoqiao pinched him.
"Almost there, almost there. Just three more months to endure, and it'll be over. Don't get agitated, we don't want to upset the pregnancy. Otherwise, we'll have to name our kid 'Not-Angry' in the future," Liu Banxia said.
"So you're saying I'm not as important as this little rascal in my belly?" Qiaoqiao glared at him.
"How could that be? It's more like the baby gains prestige from its mother. I'm just worried you'll strain yourself. Let's go, let's go out and have some fun. Tang Dou, take good care of the house! Lately, we'll feed you less dog food and more meat, so your puppies grow up plump," Liu Banxia said.
Qiaoqiao giggled. "Silly, the vet said we can't give Tang Dou too much nutrition, or it might have a difficult birth. By the way, do you think I should have a C-section or a natural birth?"
Liu Banxia grimaced. "It's all up to you. Anyway, you're the boss in this family. Whatever you say is the highest directive."
"That's just lip service. I'm going to change," Qiaoqiao said, patting him.
Liu Banxia let out a long breath. Qiaoqiao was already quite difficult to please now. He really didn't know how he would manage in two or three months when her pregnancy started to show.
He wasn't afraid of trouble; he was just worried he wouldn't be able to grasp his boss's intentions.
Normally, when going out, Qiaoqiao would meticulously do her makeup; it was second nature to girls. Today, however, she just put on light makeup and came out wearing sneakers.
Liu Banxia gave her a thumbs-up, and Qiaoqiao proudly lifted her chin. She, too, cared about this uninvited little rascal in her belly. After all, she was a mother.
While driving, Liu Banxia didn't dare to go too fast. This made Qiaoqiao a bit anxious. Driving so slowly, isn't that delaying things?
But he was very insistent on this matter. Safety first. Besides, I'm not driving below the speed limit; it's normal driving.
The meeting place was a teahouse, quite a popular choice these days. However, in Liu Banxia's opinion, if one really wanted to eat, going to a teahouse wasn't as satisfying as getting skewers; that was truly enjoyable.
"HAHA, hello, Sister-in-law," Wang Chao, who was waiting outside, waved.
"Do you really need to flatter my wife so much? You should focus on winning over Comrade Ma first, then worry about other things," Liu Banxia said.
"My goodness, President Liu, you're like my own brother! Please, never mention her in front of my mother. If my mother takes an interest in her, it's over for me. I won't have any peace," Wang Chao quickly pleaded.
"I'm quite puzzled. Why hasn't Auntie considered her?" Liu Banxia asked curiously.
"Maybe it's a case of 'the darkest place is under the candlestick'; it's simply because we're too familiar," Wang Chao said with a bitter smile.
"Wang Chao, who is it? Do I need to step in and help with an introduction?" Qiaoqiao immediately perked up.
"She's practically his childhood friend, a bit younger than him, and she's been bullying him since they were little. I think they're quite a match, but this guy is just stubborn and won't admit it," Liu Banxia said.
"Isn't it because I haven't thought it through properly? What if we pierce that paper window, and it doesn't work out? Would we even be able to be friends afterward?" Wang Chao remarked.
"But we really are too familiar. Qiaoqiao, imagine if you had known Banxia since you were kids, always playing together, basically best buddies. Could you make a move on him?"
Qiaoqiao nodded thoughtfully. "If it were me, as long as I set my sights on someone, I'd have to win him over. This guy of ours here is such a blockhead."
Wang Chao was dumbfounded. Why did you nod? If you nodded, why are you still saying that?
"HAHA, my wife, she's even more capable than I am," Liu Banxia said with a chuckle.
"Sigh... let's go in. My mom will be here soon. Uh... how did *she* get here...?" Wang Chao was about to head inside when he saw Ma Limin, dressed casually, getting out of a car.
"Hey? Baozi, what are you doing here? Oh... Dr. Liu is here too."
Ma Limin, who initially seemed quite imposing, became a little embarrassed upon seeing Liu Banxia.
"What are *you* doing here?" Wang Chao asked, also a bit exasperated.
"I'm here for a blind date. I'll just go through the motions and get it over with. Are you guys here for something?" Ma Limin asked curiously.
Liu Banxia glanced at Wang Chao. "I'm meeting Auntie today; there are some things I need to ask her. But what a coincidence! So, what does the guy do?"
Ma Limin gave him a look that was both amused and exasperated. Are we really that close? Why are you asking about this?
"He's supposedly in business; I didn't really listen to the details. Anyway, you guys chat. I'm already late." After saying that, Ma Limin hurried inside.
"TSK TSK, what a coincidence. Chao, your rival is right in front of you. How are you going to handle this?" Liu Banxia asked with a grin as they walked in.
"I think the girl is nice. I like her straightforward personality," Qiaoqiao chimed in.
Wang Chao scratched his scalp, also feeling troubled. This is so frustrating! Why did everyone have to pick this one teahouse? Couldn't they have chosen a different place?
"Don't just stay silent. Anyway, I think since you've run into each other, it must be fate," Liu Banxia said again after they entered the private room.
"President Liu, can we please not fan the flames?" Wang Chao glared at him.
"What else could it be? It's just one of those coincidences that make a good story. Look, we were just talking about her, and then she appeared. And not just for any reason, but for a blind date," Liu Banxia said leisurely.
"Exactly! This is fate sent by heaven. Otherwise, even if he asked, she wouldn't have answered. Actually, I think she was saying it for you to hear. If you don't do anything, you might really miss your chance," Qiaoqiao picked up the thread.
"That's right. Fate is truly unpredictable," Liu Banxia echoed.
"It's like the relevant indicators when we diagnose patients. If you grasp them, you understand the illness. If you don't, you miss it."
"It's a simple question, really. Just see if you have feelings for her. It's that simple. If not, then don't worry about it. If you do, well, you don't need anyone to tell you what to do," Qiaoqiao added supportively.
Their alternating remarks bombarded Wang Chao until his brain felt like it was short-circuiting. He seemed to have lost his own train of thought, just staring intently at his phone, though who knows what he was seeing.
Liu Banxia and Qiaoqiao exchanged a glance, feeling a sense of accomplishment. Fanning the flames to this extent was enough; the rest was up to Wang Chao to decide.
Some things you could encourage, but you couldn't force.
The fact that he listened quietly without a single word of rebuttal also proved he had his own thoughts on the matter.
Perhaps he always felt they were too familiar. It was precisely this apprehension, this fear that they might not even be able to remain friends, that kept him from speaking up.
However, in Liu Banxia and Qiaoqiao's minds, these weren't issues. They had ended up together, albeit due to a small mishap. If not for both of them being quite 'bold,' who knew how things would have turned out.
At the very least, it was hard to say when the little life in Qiaoqiao's belly would have come into existence.
