The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood-Chapter 310
The man continued explaining things to Michelle.
So, while he took care of the family matters with everyone thinking his daughter was still alive, she would be in the Academy in her place.
There would be just one problem accompanying Michelle in the academy.
The man’s daughter could barely cultivate. She was born with weak spirit veins.
When she was born, she was at the Spirit Paragon level and had only managed to break into the Divine rank. Nothing further.
Basically, she was considered cultivation trash.
The man was expecting Michelle to refuse because of that, but she actually liked it.
She herself still had to restrain herself from using her spirit energy. She did not want anyone to find out about her Spirit Soul Blood, if she still had it, and about her abnormalities. When she used her spirit energy, there was no guarantee that a Life Stone would not appear on her forehead.
That would mess up the plan completely. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Also, monsters were not allowed to cultivate or study in human academies, so she would be kicked out. So a Life Stone, the symbol of monsters, appearing on her forehead would ruin everything.
She also had to consider what elements the man’s daughter had. Because if their elements varied, she also could not use her spirit energy.
All that would be taken care of if she pretended to be cultivation trash. Weak spirit veins also included having a hard time using spirit energy, so no one could blame her if she could not conjure up even the simplest of spells.
After finishing his explanation, the man was expecting Michelle to reject it, and he would have to convince her. But she actually agreed without what seemed like much thought. In reality, she was just able to think fast and consider her options quickly before deciding to go along with the man’s plan.
Even though it would mean she would have to push aside other plans, like meeting her own father or training her Shadow Mastery.
When Michelle told the man she agreed, he was pleasantly surprised and quickly started planning how to introduce Michelle to the rest.
He did not know whether the culprit who killed his daughter was or was not someone with friends or subordinates within the group. So if he just brought Michelle along, there would be a high probability the culprit would find out about it. Then, it would not be hard for them to figure out that Michelle was a fake stepping in as the man’s daughter.
But there was one thing the man could use.
He had found his daughter’s body on the shore of a lake, drowned. That meant the culprit did not necessarily have to be sure she was dead.
So, if Michelle positioned herself on the shore of the lake, and he led the group by it, they could find her there, looking unconscious.
And then, if the man acted shocked, it would look like he did not know about anything until then.
In the end, there was no way the culprit would know that the man was already aware of the death of his daughter. He was supposed to still be in the middle realm a few days ago, when he found his daughter.
But because he was worried that the artifact that would be used to get the little girl to the upper realm would break, he secretly went back to the upper realm without anyone knowing to get a special Life Stone that could make artifacts sturdier when attached to them.
On the way from the middle realm to the Ostrich family, it was basically impossible to avoid the lake. So while going there, the man was greeted with the sight of his daughter’s body drifting to the shore.
Seeing that, the man nearly broke down. For a while, he just stayed frozen in place, staring at the body. His brain was not able to process what he saw.
When he finally came to, he ran over to the body, cradling his deceased daughter in his arms. He grieved his daughter for a long while, unable to do anything else.
But having been used to the schemes in the large Ostrich family, when he calmed down, he understood that it was the work of one of them. Unrestrained hatred surged in his heart, filling his whole body.
Wrapping his daughter’s body up, he put it away into his spatial ring so he could give her a proper burial at the family cemetery.
By keeping the body in the spatial ring, it would not decay and the burial could be decent. In the upper realm, it was considered greatly shameful to bury someone after their body had decayed.
All that had happened just a day ago. After that, the man returned to the group, burying his hatred and grief deep in his heart. Except for the fact that he knew the culprit was someone from his family, he did not have any other clues. So he knew he had to keep everything concealed.
He did not yet have a plan, but he was first planning to return to the family, where he would start secretly investigating those he knew had something against him.
But when he saw Michelle and the way she could disappear, a plan appeared in his mind.
He could use her to trick his enemies into thinking they failed to kill his daughter. That would make them reckless, which would lead to mistakes in their future plans.
That way, the man could more easily find out who the culprit was and retaliate. Get revenge.
After listening to the man’s plan, Michelle asked him to show her where the lake was and the position in which he had found his daughter’s body. They had to move quickly so the others from his group would not notice that he was gone.
When the man brought Michelle to the lake, he also took the body out of his spatial ring so Michelle could see who she would pretend to be. She then took out her disguise mask and put it on.
The girl she transformed into was slightly shorter and extremely thin. She had long light-brown hair reaching the middle of her back, and grayish-green eyes.
Michelle changed into the girl’s clothes before lying in the water. Then, she asked the man to hold her head under the water until she fainted.
After he did so, he pulled Michelle back a bit so her head would be above the water’s surface and she would not drown. With that, he left.
Knowing it would be dangerous to stay unconscious in the water alone, Michelle had Nyxaroth observe her. If she sank underwater, he was to pull her up.
Back in the middle realm, by the barrier of the Heavenly Law, the group had finally decided to cross it. They gave the artifact, a pendant, into the little girl’s hand and had her push her spirit energy into it.
The next moment, a sphere of spirit energy formed around the pendant, wrapping around the girl as well.
With that, she could pass through the barrier.
After she went through, the group went after her. And the man secretly joined them. The group was quite large, so no one really noticed when one person disappeared and then reappeared.
Even if they were all a family, the family was so big it was basically more of a clan. Not everyone knew each other. The most common relationship was being acquainted but not familiar.
The group proceeded into the upper realm, all excited to finally get home after finding and bringing back the family head’s only great-granddaughter.
As they were passing by the lake, someone noticed something on the shore and went to the little girl’s older brother to report it and ask what to do. "Young Master Leonard, someone seems to be on the shore. What should we do?"
Leonard Ostrich was about to answer when he saw someone running toward the shore. "Uncle Vincent! What are you doing?" he shouted at the man.
The man, Vincent Ostrich, ignored the shout and ran to Michelle on the shore. "Ana! My daughter!" He quickly lifted her from the water and shook her, trying to wake her up.
Hearing Vincent’s shouts, the people in the group understood that the person on the shore was Ana Ostrich, his only daughter. Barely anyone remembered what she looked like because her presence had been nearly nonexistent.
People gathered around Michelle’s unconscious form, quickly putting her on one of the transportation beasts. Even if barely anyone knew her except Vincent, she, as Ana Ostrich, was a member of the Ostrich family, so they could not just leave her stranded.
Once on the beast, a light element Spirit Master, a healer, came over to check on her and wake her up. In the meantime, the group continued moving.
After a while, Michelle opened her eyes, suppressing a frown on her face. Having dark element spirit energy, it was extremely uncomfortable for her when someone pumped light element spirit energy into her body.
But Ana Ostrich, whom she was pretending to be, did not have dark element spirit energy, so she could not show it.
"How do you feel?" the healer asked, helping Michelle sit up. "You nearly drowned."
Michelle pressed the bridge of her nose, feeling like she had water stuck everywhere in her head. "Terrible, but alive."
