Chapter 323: 323

Once again concealing himself completely, Alexander smiled when he heard Michelle speak. She indeed did use a lousy excuse. It was hard to believe that the Dark Lord himself would come down to the upper realm to recruit a new member of the Dark Palace.

But when considering the fact that Alexander had given Michelle the black pendant that gave her the identity of his spouse, and put the same authority as he had into her hands, she basically did become a member of the Dark Palace. And Alexander did come down personally to recruit her.

So Michelle’s excuse wasn’t complete bullshit.

While thinking about that, Alexander’s gaze moved to Michelle’s hand. One of the things no disguise mask could hide was the black scar that Michelle had on her hand, left behind from contracting the black pendant.

With Alexander once again concealed, peace seemingly returned to the courtyard.

But the gazes of the two men present were crooked when they looked at Michelle.

Marcus and Antony viewed her like some kind of monster, and knew they couldn’t mess with her.

Asher didn’t feel fear towards Michelle, but he greatly admired the fact that she could stand up to someone like Alexander.

He wasn’t dumb, so though he had no way of knowing that Alexander was the Dark Lord, he could guess that he was a leader or a high-ranking person of a powerful organization.

And the fact that someone like that personally wanted to recruit Michelle made Asher feel even more respect for her.

Clearly, she was younger than him, but her potential was bigger.

For a while, Michelle talked with her two new Masters. They had to divide on a schedule for when she would train with one and when with the other. She also needed some spare time to cultivate a bit.

In the end, it was decided that she would have three-week cycles.

First week, she would train as Marcus’ disciple.

Second week as Antony’s disciple.

And third week she could cultivate all she wanted.

Also, once she achieved her cultivation goal in the sect, the third week could be taken out of the cycle.

While discussing all that, Antony and Marcus thought of an idea.

What if Michelle didn’t have a dorm room only amongst Marcus’ students, but one more amongst Antony’s students. And she would always stay in the one whose Master was currently training her.

That way, she would have it closer to the respective training grounds and classrooms.

It was a nice idea, but for it to work, it had to be approved by, or at least told to, the teacher council. They all were called upon when it was being decided whether Michelle, as Ana, would be accepted, so any changes about her conditions in the academy should be brought to them.

Or at least to the headmaster.

But neither Antony nor Marcus had exactly good relationships with the teachers of the council. They didn’t want to go there.

So they decided to both write letters containing nearly identical things.

But waiting for the letters to be normally delivered would take long.

So they decided to use a different delivery method.

Both signed the letters and handed them over to Michelle, to bring them to the headmaster.

When Michelle said she wouldn’t just be let into the council building, both of them gave her their teacher badges with their names on them.

The two of them were well known among teachers for being hard to deal with, so no one would stop her as long as she had the badges.

Finally, Michelle agreed and took the badges, turning to leave.

And it ended up exactly like Marcus and Antony said.

Some teachers stopped her along the way when she entered the council building, but the moment she showed them the badges, they let her pass. All she said was that she was running an errand.

Getting to the headmaster’s office, Michelle knocked. When Frans Ostrich answered, she entered.

He was surprised to see her. "Ana?" he raised a brow. "Did something happen? Why are you here?" he asked.

Michelle looked at Francis helplessly.

"Sir, Teacher Antony and Teacher Marcus Julians are sending this to you. They ask you to read it right now and write a response. I should bring it to them." She handed the two letters to Francis as she spoke.

Francis knew how stubborn the two teachers were, so he took the letters and opened them both at once. It was something he never did, but considering it was about the Julians brothers, he broke the rule.

They were either writing the same thing or arguing about something, so it was for the best that he read the two letters at once.

After opening the letters, Francis saw that his first guess was right. The first sentence was identical in both letters.

And unlike usual, the letters were actually quite cultivated and polite.

"Were you with them when they wrote this?" Francis looked at Michelle.

Michelle nodded. "They had a major discussion about how to write it."

Francis nodded a bit before reading one of the letters. Since he knew they were the same, he wouldn’t bother himself with reading both of them.

When he was done reading, he took a random paper, picked up a pen, and wrote the sentence "Do as you like!" two times. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Then, he cut the paper in half and signed both, handing them over to Michelle.

"You may go now," he added.

Michelle bowed her head and left, returning to Marcus’ courtyard. He was once again sitting on the stone stool, Antony next to him.

The only change that had happened since Michelle left was that Asher was no longer present.

So Michelle asked, "Where did Asher go?" She tilted her head a bit.

Marcus just waved his hand. "He has classes now."

Thinking of the time, Michelle nodded a bit. Academies had classes mostly in the morning or early afternoon, so it wasn’t surprising. More unusual was the fact that Asher had the time to visit his Master before his classes.

Well, maybe he was one of the lucky students who didn’t have to get up early in the morning.

Throwing it to the back of her head, Michelle took out the two so-called letters Francis had given her to deliver to Marcus and Antony. She knew Marcus wasn’t exactly a patient person, so he wouldn’t wait.

"The headmaster responded." She handed the two pieces of paper over to them.

The two men looked at the two papers. Antony was calm. He expected such a response.

But Marcus had a frown on his face.

It wasn’t that he wasn’t satisfied with the response. He liked that he could do as he liked when it came to his new disciple.

He didn’t like the fact that Francis wrote it so dismissively, on a random piece of paper without writing anything more.

Wasn’t Ana considered a strange student that needed to be taken care of carefully? So why was he ignoring the situation?

But unlike usual, Marcus kept his fury contained and turned to Antony. "Go arrange a dorm room for your disciple! So she doesn’t have to live in a pigsty when she goes there."

Antony rolled his eyes, but he still stood up and left. Though there wasn’t much to prepare, since the dorms were being taken care of by cleaners or disciples who had cleaning duty as punishment.

Before actually stepping out of the courtyard, Antony turned to Michelle for a moment. "Do come to your dorm room in the upcoming days. The acceptance tests will go on for a few days. After that, the new students will be making a mess and could pick a fight with you. It will be easier if you get your things settled earlier."

Michelle nodded. She did want to avoid trouble as much as possible, since she couldn’t really afford to draw attention to her identity as Ana. So settling into both dorm rooms before the new students got accepted was actually a nice idea.

If she came to put her things there the same day they arrived, they would notice she wasn’t amongst the students being tested and would pick on her. And if she came days later, it would draw even more attention.

So coming before that, ideally during times when all the other students were in class, would give her a peaceful moment to settle her things.

When Antony left, Michelle was alone with Marcus. And, of course, Alexander was up above, observing everything.

Or at least trying to, while feeling the effects of Michelle’s poison on his neck.

Looking over at Michelle, he noticed that her hands were fine, even though she didn’t put any gloves or other protection on them before rubbing the poison on his neck.

How come she was unaffected?

Had she built up immunity to it by testing it on herself in the past?

Alexander didn’t really have the time to think about it, because the poison was quite tormenting.

In a way, he was savoring it, since it was a gift from Michelle. But at the same time, it was extremely uncomfortable.

Sitting opposite her Master, Michelle, through the Shadow Pact, could feel the emotional state Alexander was in, and really didn’t know how to feel about it. She knew he had to be in pain because of her poison, but why was he enjoying it?

It made her reach one conclusion:

"Perversion of mankind knew no bounds."
